HRP reboot - Chapter 2: On the Run

Lindsey nodded and smiled at Requiem. "That makes more sense than heading to that system and it's nice to meet you Requiem"

Dmitry looked a bit confused, she was in his eyes the commanding officer on this UNSC ship well he thought it was a UNSC ship. Becky looked at the hand for a moment before taking it. She winced the moment her left foot touched the ground, even if the trainees' knew they where working with deserters they weren't exactly going to try anything. Not like two Marines to be who barely knew how to fire a weapon were going to be much of a threat.

Jaryd leaned at one of the ODSTs. "Go ahead. Look at me and tell me I wouldn't. I dare you." Jaryd wasn't smiling, but his voice definitely sounded like he was as he stood up straight, his rifle aimed, finger on the trigger, waiting for the rest of the plan.

Saoirse helped Becks walk. "Dimitry, go and make sure the Civilians are ok, alright? I'll get Becks cleaned up. I'll bring her back, I promise." she smiled lightly, then took Becks to a cabin. She helped her into the small bathroom. "Ok, strip. You can keep your undergarments on; Just need to clean you up to some degree. As well as check for other wounds you might not know you have." She patted her shoulder. "I took some first aid classes, some advanced ones. Nothing to worry about, ok?"

Lina sighed. "So. You get a one way ticket back or join us. Either works, but we'd rather not kill anyone. Alright?" She motioned them to the door. "Now march. We'll be putting you in separate rooms before we get to our current destination."

"Charmed." Requiem said indifferently.

"Yes Ma.." He stopped mid word and shaking his head remembering that she had no rank. Dmitry turned and went to go look for the civilians.

Becky looked at Saoirse quizzically. She thought about it for a moment before removing her helmet her black hair was still in it's loose ponytail somehow. She dropped the helmet on the floor with a clatter and began to remove the rest of her armour. "Your going to have to buy me dinner first" Becky muttered sarcastically.

"Pff. If a helljumper hadn't stolen my heart kid, I'd buy you ten dinners and let you be on top." She shot back, grinning.

Two ODSTs glanced at each other, as did Leon and a female Hispanic marine. Then they calmly were led away by Michael, Lina, and Jaryd.

Becky laughed. "Fine" She continued to undress, actually glad to be getting out of her armour.

Dmitry paused having gotten himself a little bit lost, however he spotted Spartans herding marines and ODSTs. "Hey what's going on over here?" The trainee demanded, his rifle raised at his hip.

Lina stopped. "Fuck. Jaryd. No."
She spun, taking aim. "Fine. We're renegades and we're moving these marines to separate rooms. No one is going to be hurt. Now lower that before we have to shoot you, and I seriously don't want to hurt anyone."

Saoirse smiled, patting Becks' head. "Good girl." She said teasingly. "Now just sit down and I'll get your leg fixed up."

Jaryd pointed at Dmitry. "Don't try it kid. You're nice. I don't like shooting nice." He raised his rifle as well, keeping an eye on his motion tracker.

"The medics already looked at it" She told her but did as she was told. Becky was grateful to not have to put any weight on the leg.

Dmitry aimed at the Spartans, his eyes resolute where as others might have shown fear. "With respect Spartans lower your weapons" He demanded. Dmitry was loyal he would never desert or betray anyone, it was turning into a very one sided Mexican stand off.

Lina fired a single shot, blasting Dimitry's rifle from his hands.
"We are people. Not property. We became Spartans think we would be heroes. And now...we're not heroes. Just expendable soldiers. When you watch every single person you know die alon side you, when you lose a friend you knew for years..." Lina lowered her gun. "You'd desert too. Now go check the civilians. We'll drop you off with the UNSC once we're done with repairs."

Saoirse checked her leg. "Looks good..." She carefully checks Becks' arms and legs. "Is it ok if I check your body for any damage?" she asked. "I promise I will be respectful."

Jaryd looked at Lina and messaged her with internal suit comms. "If it's alright with you, I'd rather not lower my gun just yet."

Dmitry narrowed his eyes at the Lina. "Actually I already know what that is like" He began to walk away but suddenly whipped around with his magnum drawn. "Now drop your weapons" As he made that demand the clip fell out the bottom of the pistol and hit the deck with a clatter. "Ah... Shit"

Becky shrugged. "Make yourself at home not like I have a boyfriend to complain or no complain as the case may be"

Jaryd kept his rifle up and walked up to Dmitry. "Son. Seriously. It's better if you just stop trying now. But pull a gun again, and I'll smack you with mine. Deal?" He lowered his gun after the first word.

Saoirse blushed. "You're pretty cocky." She said. "And cute. So tone it down. You make me want to take you to bed and cuddle." She stuck her tongue out at Becks, then carefully and respectfully began to check over her body. "You seem fine. Just gotta stay off the leg." She stood. "Here, let me help you get to bed."

Lina facepalmed, then walked over and picked up the clip. "Seriously? You're acting stupid. Go make sure people are safe. You ain't gonna stop Spartans."

Becky smiled slightly. "Yeah... Well it was either be a cocky marine or a cocky petty criminal turns out I suck at both but... At least this one pays well" She stood slowly, trying to see if she could make it anywhere under her own steam.

Dmitry looked at both the Spartans, clearly thinking of other options before glancing at the now empty magnum. The UNSC would expect him to do something, anything even if it was wrong. He reversed his hold on it so that the handle was now a mixture club and swung it a Jayrd. "For Earth!" He yelled, knowing that there was only one outcome to this.

Lina intercepted the blow, twisting Dimitry's arm behind his back.
"Kid, Jaryd would kill you where you stand. Now for the love of god, cool the fuck off. Because we just want to live peaceful lives." She twisted harder, "And not endanger anyone."

"Dammit Becks. I'm a sucker for a cock marine. Tone it down already." Saoirse blushed. "Now...mind if we talk?"

Dmitry grimaced in pain but did not cry out. He gritted his teeth. "Fine... Since you... Explained your view point so democratically I will do as you.. Suggested Spartan"

"Sure and tone it down?" She said a bit confused by the expression. "Oh wait I... Understand"

Lina let him go. "Good."

Saoirse blushed. "Yeah...because I'm tempted to invite you to share my bed. Fully clothed." she giggled. "Now...I need to admit something to you...and you have to promise you'll try and understand."

Dmitry rubbed his wrist. "I suppose I do owe you..." He muttered to himself his loyalties divided between a personal debt and remaining loyal to the UNSC.

"Yeah of course you want me to be fully clothed" She said teasingly. "Who wanted me to undress to my undergarments?" Becky was just messing around at the moment, she had never really thought about getting close to anyone.

"That's clothed." She pointed out. "And you do look cute. Want to come to my bed anyway? Never will be cold at least." She was getting carried away. "Becks...listen..." She sat back on her heals. "I'm not with the UNSC. Well, I was. But me and my Spartans...we left. He deserted." She looked pained. "Because I can't condone such...such young kids to being treated as little more then property. Because their people, and Rika...Rika's become the daughter I'd never have had." She sighed. "That's it in a short nutshell. I left to save what I felt was important." She looked uneasy. "Do...you understand?"

Lina let him go, and herded the Marines and ODSTs into separate rooms, then turned to Jaryd.
"So. Think We'll ever get a chance to throw them back to the UNSC?"

Jaryd shrugged, going back to the bigger group of Marines. "Doubt it. You should've let him hit me. I would've broken his nose. Pain teaches quick, yanno."

Becky listened quietly and remained silent for a minute before finally replying. "Well... Thanks for saying that I look cute but.. I've never really... Had... Or done anything.. Relationship style or" She decided to answer the other part of what she had said. "Well I can understand that even if the UNSC needs every Spartan but there are rumours of them going rogue" The marine had never really thought about having a family of her own, but she guessed that she would not like kids to be treated as property. "I know of a rumour of a Spartan going rogue according a marine on watch, this was three ships ago in about... I don't know where but there was apparently a rogue Spartan there was a huge convoy due to the pirate threat" She sounded as if she did not believe the tale on bit. "I mean what's one Spartan or a pirate going to do against a convoy?" She laughed quietly. "Your serious about being not of the UNSC"

Dmitry walked away, messing with his magnum trying to load the thing.

Saoirse touched Becks' hand. "You'll find someone." She looked down. "I'm serious Becks...I'll return you to the UNSC, if you want. We're not going to hold anyone against their will. We might keep you in a room...but we'll take you back...just say so."

Lina and Michael arrived on the bridge.
"Miss Ryan?" Michael spoke up. "You can go rest. We can keep an eye on the ship."

Becky could not help but laugh. "Your kidding right?" She looked at Saoirse and shook her head. "I go back to the UNSC I'll still be a poor, broken trainee I stay here I'll be a poor, broken deserter" Becky felt her cheeks grow warm as her hand was touched.

"I'm used to Ma'am but sure" Lindsey replied with a shrug. "No if it is okay with you two I would prefer to remain on the bridge for a few more hours first" It was where she felt most at home on a ship.

"Well. Least here when you come to bed, you can have a friend willing to keep you warm at night and no one really making you get up at the crack of the crack of dawn." Saoirse patted the girl's hand. "So...do you want to return to the UNSC? Just say the word."

Michael shrugged. "We're not UNSC; no ranks. Rika and Saoirse lead. We're all equals though. Everyone's input counts. No brass giving us do and die orders anymore."
"Just live." Lina added. "That's the only standing order. And protect your friends."

Becky smiled. "That is actually a good idea" She decided to pat Saoirse's hand back. "I don't know I've never really had much of a future anywhere"

"Oh well... I'm not but I'm used to being called by my rank" She explained, however she was still adjusting to not being part of the UNSC. "I understand just give me a few days to adapt"

Saoirse smiled. "Ok...Here, let me get you to the bed. You rest and I'll get you some clothes before...before..." She looked down, and a few tears fell. "Before we put Ren to rest..."

Michael shrugged. "We can give you a few days."

"I'll be fine with my armour if it is just the same with you Saoirse" She informed her, not really wanting to be out of uniform for very long. It was then she noticed that she was crying. "Are you okay?" Becky asked taking a careful step towards her.

Lindsey smiled. "Thanks... I still cannot believe that I am here I lost my entire crew, my ship... Even my place in the UNSC..." She shook her head and closed her eyes for a moment. "At least here on the bridge I can be close to what I know"

"My daughter Rika had a boyfriend...he...he was the Spartan that died saving you...I knew him...he was a good kid...a joker...really kind..." She leaned against the wall. "Rika was the Falcon Pilot...sh...she's in her room in shock. And...I..."
Saoirse held her arms out. "Can I have a hug?"

Michael nodded. "I understand."

"I am sorry that you lost him..." She said as she gave her a hug. "Me and Dmitry lost our fireteams respectively" Becky tried to sympathise but she did not think she was very good at it.

"So what made you... Well rebel?" Lindsey asked not sure really how to ask the question.

"We all were treated like property, Miss Ryan." Lina explained. "But we're people. And as people, we decided we weren't property. Now we're here."

Saoirse sniffed. "Thanks..." Hugging back, she slowly pulled away. "Here..." she dug out a comm. "Call if you need anything. I'll be one deck up...unless you wanted to take up my offer." she teased pathetically.

"Please don't call me miss you make it sound like I am a school teacher" She told Lina. "I am sorry for what you went through but believe me I am glad you where there to pull me off my ship I would have run out of ammo and well I didn't want to get too friendly with an elite"

Becky accepted the comm and smiled. "I... I... Can we talk about this? Well us? If there is... An us"

"Becks...I'll be clear. What I'm looking for is someone to snuggle up to and...well...be there for me. My girlfriend is god knows where...so...that's all I'd want is someone to be there for me. And since the only person I currently would have in in a horrible state of shock...I'm desperate. So I'm sorry if I'm being pushy and annoying." She sighed. "Is...that kinda what you wanted to know?"

Lina sighed. "Alright...Lindsey."

Becky listened. "I.. I don't want to... Get tied down to anyone.. Especially since all my friends apart from Dmitry have got wiped out" She looked exhausted. "I... I don't know what I... Wanted to know"

"Where would you like me to go?" Lindsey asked, wanting to pull her own weight on the ship.

"Help get the civilians settled and make sure everyone is accounted for." Lina said.

Saoirse sighed. "You won't be tied down...just...you can...Gah..." She rubbed her temples. "I just want someone to share my bed so I don't feel alone is all Becks. Nothing else." She finally said.

"You brought civilians on this ship?" Lindsey said incredulously. "What?" She stopped herself. "No... Your right sorry I would have done the same had the Nevada not been disabled then boarded" She stood and made her way off the bridge. "I... Do you have a mess area? I have not had chance to drink or eat for a while"

Becky nodded slowly as she spoke. "I.. I don't want to get close to anyone in case they get killed again... Your really nice and all but I'm only eighteen barely an adult" She looked at the door. "I shouldn't even be here but my options where not exactly open.. I've never had a chance for a future or to have someone there for me and I... It's a lot to take in"

Major Henderson finally got a comm link, trying to call to the December, "Common, common. Answer already... I need to evacuate everyone.... and get a damn promotion with Yang.... Common..."

AS Henderson and the Marines were waiting patiently for the link to go through, Barnes and Kyle got the firetruck they needed, "Hey Sarge, I think you're going to like the new UNSC party vehicle!" Shouted Kyle over the comms to him.

"Copy Kyle, just make sure not to hit that pole! I cannot lose Gerry, or any of you for that matter!" John shouted back at them, then looked up to Gerry, "Lancaster! They're on their way! Just hang tight!"

All Gerry could do was moan in pain, how had he not slid all the way down the pole yet? What was keeping him so high upon it? Whatever it was... He guessed it was better then having his whole insides ripped out, in one fellow swoop.

"Well, Becks, I'm only asking for a friend." Saoirse said with a soft laugh. "Not asking you to marry me." She added teasingly.

Lina sighed. "We got some stuff in the kitchen. Actually a lot. Don't exactly help yourself, but like. Go make a sandwhich and have a glass of juice."

When Lindsey had left, Requiem allowed the link through. "Hello, you've reached the "We are Rebels not UNSC" Hotline. If you're looking to join us, press One. If you're trying to lie to us and take us over from the inside, press two. If you're a colossal idiot who thinks we'll save your pathetic asses when you have a perfectly functional frigate over there, press three. For anything else, please press the red button on your communications link that reads WARNING: SELF DESTRUCT. Have a pleasant day."

Lindsey found her way to the kitchen and quickly open the fridge, there she took a glass of water and downed it swiftly. "Okay Lindsey... You can do this just..." Even if the UNSC hated her she still had her duty to them, she owed the rebels her life. She would find one of their Spartans and tell them everything before asking to be held in custody. That would even everything out.

Becky smiled in understanding. "Oh I thought you meant more than friendship.. Yeah a friend would be good to have since well they are either killed today apart from one or a billion miles from here in the galaxy's lost and found bin my home"

"Yeah. My asking to share a bed is merely...I'm lonely. I just wanna wake up and find a friend next to me. That's all Becks. I promise." She then grinned. "I'll let you handcuff me if you don't trust me." She added jokingly.

"Oh I did not expect you to be into that sort of stuff" Becky teased playfully.

Lindsey found the civilians and made sure that they where all okay, they seemed fine if frightened and scared counted as fine. A few of them recognised her but said nothing. She left her heart heavy, looking for a Spartan.

The only Spartan Lindsey would find would be Michael, who had left the bridge in search of Saoirse.

Saoirse blushed. "Just a bit Becks. Anyways. What do you say? Warm bed, a new friend, and lots of hugs. What more could you want?"

Lindsey walked up to Michael and looked up at the Spartan asked. "Hey can I talk to you for a moment?"

Becky laughed and said. "Well now that you ask if you could be a Pilot or a Spartan and you can get more than hugs, maybe hand holding"

"I can see if Michael will teach you to fly Beck." She offered. "I'm sure he'd love to train you to fly the Pelican. We do need a dedicated pilot so Michael is free for ground duty."

Michael looked up. "I have a moment. What do you need?"

"What no you say what more could you want and I find pilots and Spartans... Attractive" She explained. "I'm going to be a marine"

"I want to tell you everything I know before I have to obey the UNSC protocol for being captured" She told him bluntly. "I owe you all a personal debt and this is the way for me to be most helpful"

Saorise blinked. "Oh." She play pouted. "What, you don't find scientists attractive?" She stuck her tongue out at Becks.

"Alright." He sighed. "You wanna give me all your intel then be locked up. Is that what you're getting at?"

"That... Well some are cute like the female ones" She felt herself blush.

"Yes well there was a reason as to why I had to avoid capture I know the location of sensitive ONI intel... It is well very sensitive if circulated publicly" Lindsey explained to the Spartan.

Saoirse laughed. "Get dressed and I'll show you to my room. Make yourself at home, alright? I gotta go do things and all. Need to be at a certain place soon so we can settle down on this planet...hopefully."
The woman patted Becks' head playfully. "And thank you. I think marines can be really cute. Especially when they let me play doctor." the woman chuckled.

Michael leaned against the wall. "I'm listening."

Becky felt her cheeks flush. "Okay and we marines like having nurses fuss over us" She limped back over to the bathroom and slid back into her grimy, blood splattered combat gear. "Hey doc? Mind giving me a hand putting all this on?"

"Well there is a system near here that the UNSC once used for transporting cargo through it was a major lane for trade, however it soon gained the attention of pirates" She told the Spartan. "ONI decided to eliminate the pirates in the Tyroid System and... Well their solution failed or went rogue I was going to part of the battlegroup sent to eliminate this threat I believe it is a Spartan as who else could warrant the specific attention of the spooks" She fumbled inside her jacket for something and in her hand held out a small data crystal. "This was on the spook who had placed himself on my vessel I can access it but my AI believed a Spartan might be able to we both believe however it contained everything about ONI's secret"

Michael accepted it. "Thank you...anything else? And are you sure you want to be detained? Or are you just wanting to help?" He asked.

Saoirse didn't hesistate, helping her into her combat gear.
"Becks, we'll find your some clothes. Can't have you in these things all the time." She said.
