Halo Frontlines, Scipio Background

Scipio is an Outer Colony controlled by the United Earth Government (UEG). A desert planet, Scipio has several large seas (akin to the Mediterranean Sea) coupled with large lakes scattered around the surface. Plant life is focused around the bodies of water including along the rivers that spread from them. Widespread forests and crops are relatively recent, with forests added by colonists for terraforming purposes.

There are two cities on Scipio and several dozen towns and settlements spread further out, with the largest city being the capital Zama. In total, the population for Scipio totals at 1.5 million. While not a strategically placed colony, it is noted for its abundance in edible aquatic life and thus a portion of its economy draws from agriculture. The larger portion derives from mining, as the colony world is rich in rare metals. Several mining operations are based away from the cities and further in the deserts and mountain ranges.
