Past of the Heretic!

~ This is set before all current going-ons in the Halo RP, infact it is in the past. ~

Paarthurnax came around, he was still very dazed and could hear the viscious screams and scratches of Kig-Yar and Jiralhanae. He did not take warmly to this and tried to stand, although he could not, he looked to his sides and saw two Jiralhanae dragging him, he was confused and very weak.

He watched as the Jiralhanae carried him into a giant room, one he had saw before. On one side there were Sangheili Councilors, on the other there were Prophets. He tried to think of reasons why he had been brough here, without his armor and by being dragged by the Jiralhanae filth. At the end stood the High Prophets and Tarturus, or one of his Chieftains. The Jiralhanae had finally reached the podium and left him there. He looked up and saw the Prophets. Tarturus walked over to him and grabbed his neck, pulling him up into a stance.

"Stand filth!"

Paarthurnax was suprised by this, and he stood lifelessly, wandering what was going on.

"Why...Why have I been brought here?"

"Do not speak heretic filth!"

He stood there baffled by that, how was he a heretic, what had he done?

"It is okay Tartarus, leave the poor wretch be!"

The Prophets spoke to the Jiralhanae and he bowed and then back away. Paarthurnax stood still, looking confused about the whole situation.

"Paarthurnax, you have been brought here against your will. Like the Arbiter, Thel you failed a most valuble task!"

Paarthurnax stood there again, he did not answer back as he knew it was not his place. He noticed Tarturus had returned with what looked like the Mark of Shame.

"Tarturus, get your Jirahanae to put him in there, and prepare for the ceremonial tradition"

The Jiralhanae dragged Paarthurnax into what looked like a cell, made from solely Plasma. He knew what was coming and he knew he had to face the music.

"For your failure of this precious task, I hereby declare that the Mark of Shame, is imbedded into your skin, how does the Council plead?"

Paarthurnax looked around and saw the entire Council cheer and plead guilty to his charge.

"For your heresy, you shall be given the Mark of Shame!"

Tarturus forced the staff into Paarthurnax' chest and he let out an extremely loud cry. Tarturus smiling and laughing whilst doing so.

Paarthurnax again like before was being dragged out, he did not have the strength to fight back, not that he would of if he did anyway. He saw them drag him to a cell, more specifically Cell No. 2524.
The Jiralhanae tossed him in there, before locking it firmly. One of the Jiralhanae rounded up some spit and then did what everyone expected a filthy ape to do. Paarthurnax grunted and rushed towards the entrance to the Cell with force, shaking it rapidly.

"Rest easily heretic!"

"I am no heretic!"

The Jiralhanae grunted and then walked away. He was locked in this awful Cell, and soon the Great Journey would begin, and he would be left behind.

Paarthurnax woke, he had been asleep. He found this astounding, that he managed to sleep in such a dumpy hole. He could hear the Jiralhanae, bringing the slop around, which was the rubbish they served, which was apparently food. The Jiralhanae arrived at his Cell, they laughed and teased him about the food.

"Having fun with your delicious meal?"

"Move on filth!"

"Who do you think your spekaing to?"

"A Brute who thinks he knows everything!"

The Jiralhanae grunted, served him his slop and moved on. Paarthurnax stood stareing at the supposed food and just ignored its existance, there was no way he was eating that. The Jiralhanae came back.

"Eat your food!"

"You eat it, I am going nowhere near it"

"You do as your told!"

"Oh really. We shall see about that!"

The Jiralhanae pressed the pad and the Cell became unlocked, it ran in and grabbed Paarthurnax' throat, and held him against the wall.

"Yes...We shall!"

Paarthurnax forced the Jiralhanae's hand from his throat and pushed him away. He looked at him very closely and they had a stare-off.

"I suggest you go, before I get angry!"

The Jiralhanae grunted again and exited the Cell, locked it and proceeded back down the hallway. Paarthurnax walked back to his original position, annoyed at the Jiralhanae.

Tartarus approached the cage unlocking it, he knelt down by Paarthurnax.

"Come on dog, the Prophets wish to see you!"

Paarthurnax was escorted to the Prophets, who had plans for him, big plans.

"Come on it Paarthurnax, let us discuss future plans"

"I have a proposition for you. You can have you original rank back, in exchange you go the the world of Haven and destroy it for us?"

Paarthurnax thought about the options here, how could he resist.

"Of-course Noble Prophets!"

"Delightful. Go and get ready!"

Paarthurnax bowed and exited, Tartarus did not look happy. Paarthurnax headed straight to the Armory.

Paarthurnax was now fully equipped with his weapons and his armor. This was a once in lifetime oppertunity for him, for this would not happen ever again.
He had a few days until the day in which he would board the CCS. He returned to his quarters and rested.

He felt as if the gods were looking upon him that day, for he never expected this would happen. He was delighted, that he was released and given another chance to eliminate the pathetic human race. He slowly drifted into a calm and steady sleep.

"You cannot escape your heresy Paarthurnax, this will catch up on you eventually"

He quickly got startled, and was not sure on what just happened. Was that a real voice, or just a figure of a past?

A few hours had passed, and he was now on his Phantom, along with the rest of his lance. He was not sure on where he was going. The rest of his lance, looked at him differently. He thought this might have been because of his Mark, he did not take any notice. He knew better.
Instead he focused on his goals, and what he would do differently to his last mission, which nearly got him killed.

"Paarthurnax. You and your lance are to infiltrate the mining facility, and execute all and any resistance. Rig the entire facility with Plasma Charges. Leave no warrior behind!"

"Affirmative. It will be done"

He sat back happy with his mission and beginning to show excitement in his body features.

Paarthurnax engaged his camouflage and walked through the well-lit Mining Facility. Him and his Lance were all in camouflage and sneaking around.
He was enjoying it so far. They had only encountered a few enemies so far, it really was dead. He stopped and disengaged his camouflage. He reached inside his utility and grabbed two Plasma Charges. He gave one to his Minor, and ordered him to place it on the opposite side, he did so. Paarthurnax planted the charge on the wall, and linked it to his detonator. He and his Lance re-engaged their camouflage and proceeded on. A marvelous and easy mission so far.

They continued on for a half hour and they had finished planting the charges. Something was not right. They had recently entered a room, and their were a lot of human bodies. Their chests were open and it seemed to be forced open, everyone of them.

"What's going on?"

Paarthurnax looked to his Special Operations Minor, Kaine and shrugged. There was a loud noise coming from behind a door. Paarthurnax was shocked and he grabbed his Energy Sword and evaded up to the door. Many more loud noises came from around the room.

"Sangheili! Take your positions!"

His Sangheili got into position around the other doors. There were about twenty Sangheili currently, all highly trained and skilled. There was a weird hissing sound on the other side, something he had never heard before.

A load of small pulp things burst out of the door. Paarthurnax evaded backwards and placed his sword back into his holster and grabbed his Plasma Rifle and started firing. All the doors around the room too had been broken and hundreds of pulps were now filling the room. Already a lot of Sangheili had fallen to this unknown creature.

"Retreat, retreat brothers!"

Paarthurnax ordered his warriors to fall back. He got into a werewolf position and ran like one out of the room. His remaining warriors also did so. He was unsure of what this was, he could raise no contact with the outside world. Instead he ordered his warriors to continue running, as thousands of pulp like creatures flooded the facility.

"RETREAT!"

Paarthurnax grabbed his sword and swiped at the unarmed combat forms.

"Shipmaster, we have been engaged"

"Affirmitive. Hold. Chief Adviser?"

"Contacts bareing three-five"

"Engage. Phantoms; Banshees roll out! Pick up our warriors!"

"Understood. Banshees; Phantoms roll out"

Paarthurnax thanked the Shipmaster before a pillar fell down infront of him and onto him. He fell lifelessly to the floor. He could see his warriors form a formation and defend him, whilst the medics tried to free him.

"What is going on. Paarthurnax we are waiting. We do not have much-"

"Filok majesto! Hold on, he's trapped!"

"Quickly, we must hurry"

Paarthurnax felt someone dragging him along, his vision was blurred. He tried getting to his feet but could not.

"Gods above! They're trying to board our Phantom. EVADE, EVADE!"

He could hear the sound of the Phantom dropping from the sky. He was placed down as his Sangheili warriors fought off the enemy. He tried getting up again but his legs would not move, he looked around, many Banshees had been brought down and there was a Phantom laying in flames in the center. His hearing went impared for a second.

"We need to move now!"

"Indeed"

The Sangheili then came back and grabbed Paarthurnax, dragging him backwards back into the boggy forest.

"Shipmaster, we have lost the Phantoms"

"How is that possible?"

"They boarded it, Shipmaster"

There was a clean silence, but the fire continued heavily.

"We cannot risk sending more Phantoms in, you are on your own for now"

"Understood Shipmaster"

They continued fighting until reaching another Compound. This one was more secure and alot harder to find. Kaine opened the covered hatch, and they all slid inside.
They used some glow torches to light up the room. Paarthurnax felt very tired. He saw a few Sangheili branch off going deeper and deeper into the Compound, whilst the remaining amount stayed securing the door and Paarthurnax.

"You're badly wounded Officer"

"I...Can see that"

"Whilst they are out there and we are in here, we cannot get you to the EVAC"

He was not sure whether he was meant to reply but he did not.

"So that means we must venture further into this facility and hope to find an exit. Is that acceptable?

"Yes..."

He let out a quiet yes, and the Minor grabbed him and carried him away. They ventured deeper into the abandoned facility.

Breathing was getting harder as they ventured deeper and deeper into the unknown facility. They encountered no new contacts, all was quiet. There was very little light, and everyone was exausted.

"Halt!"

Paarthurnax looked up ahead, he was not sure what was going on. Then he realised that there was nothing up ahead. Well there was, it just was not visible. Everything two meters ahead was in pitch black, nothing could be seen. The Minor that was carrying him had dropped him down.

"Engage night-vision"

Paarthurnax too entered night-vision and looked straight ahead. It was clear. The Minor picked him back up.

"Perhaps a power outage, continue on"

He remained silent. Whoever was currently commanding was doing a fine job. He could not take over anyway. Not in his condition.

Everyone had gone from him. He had been placed down, whilst they went in search of an exit. They had been gone about a half hour. He still could not move. He feared he had broke his legs. But nothing could be done at this moment it time. What was that? He looked around curiously. There it was again, where was it coming from? A faint groan, very distant but could still be heard. He continued to look around, not noticing anything out of the ordinary.

He let a few minutes pass, and it was not heard again.

'Drip...drip...drip' Was all that could be heard now. A small pool was forming on the floor, from a leak somewhere in the facility. It was dark, light enough to see, but dark. There was some light coming from his helmet, two small sockets that he could see through. He dimmed them, making sure that the entire area was dark. He knew something was not right. They had been gone too long, but what could he do. All he could do, which was sit there, and hope that they return.

"STAY AWAY!"

Paarthurnax jumped up, and realised that he had moved. Around him were a few Special Operations. He looked up and saw Kilo 'Vernomee.

"ARGH!"

Kilo swung towards the creature whilst another Special Operations Unit came over to Paarthurnax and jabbed something in him.

"Welcome back Officer, we lost you for some time. Oh yes, that will help your legs. Your legs were paralysed, within a few minutes, they will be back to normal. Just stay here"

Paarthurnax looked around, there were a lot of injured and dead warriors. The remaining seven were fighting off the creatures, who magically came from everywhere.

"Last magazine brothers!"

Paarthurnax looked to the Sangheili that shouted that. Below him were a lot of empty Carbine magazines. He knew automatically that they had been fighting for quite some time. Paarthurnax had, had enough of this creature. So he stood up slowly and carefully now that his legs were better. He grabbed his sword and lit it up. The surrounding Sangheili looking due to the sound. He looked to those injured.

"Can you fight?"

Most of them nodded.

"Then rise!"

The injured got up, and equiped their swords, having no other weapon.

"Out of darkness, these blades will light our way!"

He walked forwards, and those fighting too equipped their swords. He then charged, as did the rest...

Paarthurnax spun through the air with his sword as he cut two of the unknown creatures down. His warriors thriving and he excelling, like no other.

"Drive them back!"

They just mowed down any of the creatures with their swords, an excellent display. Each and everyone of them, dying before getting a chance to do anything.

"Halt!"

Paarthurnax looked around and realized that the creatures were no more. They had exterminated the current threat, at least in that area. Paarthurnax disengaged his sword and placed it back into his holster. He turned around and looked to his Sangheili warriors who did the same with their swords.

"Is everyone okay? Take five"

His warriors rested against the walls and on the floor. They had been fighting and running for a long time. They were extremely tired, some even frightened. He was not surprised though. This creature was unknown and very scary looking.
Paarthurnax removed his helmet and rubbed his face, there were quite a few scratches on it. They ached but did not bother him that much. He then placed his helmet back on.

"Come on, lets move!"

They charged valiently down the hallway with their swords out. They were being careful, they had not encountered any creatures for a while, and that raised their awareness.

"Clean, no hostiles!"

"Excellent!"

He continued on, now walking. Something was off, very off.

"Check your corners! I do not like this, not one bit!"

Time to go up close and personal.

Nothing, maybe it was a break, yeah that was it. However he continued on, not letting his guard drop. He couldn't tell how far they had gone into the facility. There was little light and they had be running for ages, how big was this facility?
They had reached a walkway, a dead end.

"Take five brothers. If you notice anything strange, report back."

The Sangheili rested for a short while, remembering what the Officer had said. Paarthurnax walked right up to the edge and saw what looked like a control panel appear. He pressed it and a lift started coming up tp their level. A result...

The lift arrived and Paarthurnax stood there and looked at it. He walked onto it before ordering his warriors aboard it.

He looked around a few times, it was all a little weird. Then the lift started going up, his warriors formed a defensive perimeter around him.
It accelerated very slowly, but within a few minutes they got very far.

"Keep yours eyes open warriors!"

Then from nowhere, the creatures appeared and jumped onto the lift.

"Engage, engage!"

The Sangheili engaged the creatures, who outnumbered them greatly.

They went deeper and deeper into the Installation, or what it seemed to be. No further contact was ever made, no-one knew if anyone made it out of the Installation, too much went on and no contact got in or out...

"They're all gone, every last one of them, this parasite just came and took them and soon they will be coming for me, if this is ever recovered, note that there has been an outbreak, a containment breach. We were overrun, forced to retreat as they made foul of our fallen comrades, hundreds came, thousands even. They just continued coming, we had no time. I have right and reason to say this...I am scared, I'm not sure what to do. At all. They took them, grounded them one by one, lay siege to their honoured bodies as we foolishly retreated. We were so far, so close...but we couldn't, I had not the gut to continue on after they struck. They tore my comrades apart, limb by limb and they came back, taking more and more.
There is no contact, the communications out, too far down in this shaft. It's a-

(Padded footsteps)

No, they're here, repent, repent now!

(Sounds of growling and gunfire)"

The Supercarrier floated around in masked orbit, unaware of anything down below. There was anarchy aboard the Command Bridge, Advisers running everywhere trying to do something of use, before the Admiral.

"Lance Lima; Lance Echo; Lance September; Lance Foxtrot, respond!"

"Glassing beam charged. On your mark Admiral."

"Good, keep trying to raise contact, we're not leaving them behind, dead or alive."

The Command Bridge continued to get noisier as the Admiral walked around his Command Bridge, staring out of the huge glass pane that was the front of the miles long Supercarrier.

"Special Operation Lances, report in over? Ranger Lances report in over? Zealot Strike Team, report in over?"

"No contact, sonar reports nothing."

"Scan for thermal."

"Sir, no response from the Special Warfare Lances, nor the Zealot Strike Team."

"Keep searching!"

They continued to work.

"Lifeforms found, there not ours."

"Keep scanning."

"There's hundreds, thousands either!"

There was silence.

"Admiral, glassing beam ready!"

"That would kill any survivors!"

"Admiral, our scans are picking up no friendly warriors, that most likely means there dead or too far underground to pick up."

"Your point?"

"We should glass the surface, those under the earth will survive, the glass will not pass through our forefathers creation."

"Excellent. Fleet, prepare for glassing!"

The Commanding Officer looked towards the Fleetmaster awaiting a signal. The Fleetmaster stared back.

"What are you waiting for? Glass the planet!"

The Fleetmaster grew impatient as the Commanding Officer nodded and struck a hand near his as chest he ran towards the central console and lowered the podium.

"Fleetmaster, it awaits your hand."

"Excellent..."

He approached the podium before sitting down on his thrown-like chair before the bottom of the Supercarrier vanished and became a glass viewing deck. The podium was brought closer to the Fleetmaster as his hand anxiously awaited.

I looked as thousands of impure crowded the ground below us, hunger in their eyes, and in their gullets. The faces of what were once proud warriors stared back at us as my noble warriors fired at them. They cleared the landing zone, wading through ferns and swamp, knee high. The fetid air filled their lungs to the brim, coursing through their veins, reminding them of the disarray they were walking into. The hell our "leaders" had promised us.

"A thousand hells await you, impure beings!"

His hand slid on to the console as the beam began to heat up before the ground below started shaking and separating as did our ship, it shook from side to side as the glassing was set into motion, those who were among dishonoured carcasses...were now too forsaken.
