| You want to know the real me? Fine, I'll tell you.
I am a spartan. Not a spartan like the ones you hear about on the news. I'm one of those ones Spartans that you never see, never hear about. That is, I'm supposed to be like that. I'm a Spartan III, no, more like a Spartan 2.5. I am not supposed to die. I am supposed to fight, and keep fighting until my mission is complete. My superiors in the UNSC Intel and Recovery Offices had me trained to never give up on a mission, and to never stop, unless the abort codes were given. That nearly made me kill my salvation, but that's for later.
I was not the only one made, oh, no. I had brethren, one brother, two sisters, but they were not my family like how you would think, they were not my blood. They were like me, but they were not from my family. Their names were Lee, Christina, and Emily. They were the closest thing I had to a family. I was the first to finish training, so I was the first to go out into the universe.
That was a mistake.
The Covenant attacked Reach. All available ships were recalled, and I managed to make it back before the end. I was selected to join Operation: Uppercut while the others were still training. I helped Noble team breach the bridge of the cruiser. After that I returned to the surface to receive new orders.
This is where my story truly begins. I was given orders to destroy any and all Covenant tech that I come across, and to not stop until the abort codes were given. I accepted these orders and began my "hunt," you could say. I killed anything that was not human, destroyed all of the weapons, vehicles, comm relays; everything.
And then it all changed.
Reach was gone, my superiors, my friends, everyone; was gone. I was left alone, going about my bloody work of ending the Covenant through brute force. Only the UNSC forces stayed, but only in name, I never stayed with any fleet for longer than a week. Then, the Chief managed to reveal the secret of the Halos, and the Covenant was split. Elites joined with humans, Brutes stayed with the Prophets, and we finally started to win this war. But, I couldn't stop. Every Covenant ship I met had to be destroyed, no matter which side it was on, Loayalist, or Separatist.
One day, I came across a UNSC ship, named the Blizzard's Fury. I was running low on supplies, so I asked to dock. I didn't know that there were Separatist ambassadors on-board at the time. I made friends with some of the marines, really got to know the crew. But then I saw the Elites. As soon as I saw them, my training kicked in. I killed them, before I even knew what was happening. The UNSC marines escorting them attacked me, so I was forced to kill them too, as well as my new found friends. And it went on, and on, until I was labeled "rogue" and marked for death. I was exiled from the one place that stayed constant, the one place where I could sort-of fit in.
Not long ago, my training was erased, by a person using Covenant tech. I almost killed him, but now I can now encounter Covenant and not be forced to kill them. But that doesn't change the fact that I am now a terrorist in the eyes of the UNSC. I can no longer return to them, to help fight against the Loyalist forces.
To all that read this, know but one thing:
Please, I ask not for forgiveness, but for understanding, so I may look upon you and not feel shame for what I did.
Deis ducente non dividendae. Under the gods, undivided. | |

| This is the continued story of one Dormii Fortuni, a Spartan III who went rogue.
I am Dormii Fortuni, the dream of luck. I am not rogue, I wish to return to the UNSC, but that won't happen. You see, I killed, but not what you think. I killed marines, honest, good-hearted marines who never questioned orders and never missed an assignment. I killed them, brutally, and was marked for death by the UNSC. But that's not what this is about.
This is about what came after.
Not too long after I was set to die, I met some people. Most of them were Spartans, some marines, some ODSTs, and the occasional Elite. To name a few, there was Draco, the Spartan sniper with a demon inside named Zayne.
Draco has never missed a shot, but Zayne is the one you should worry about. Zayne comes out whenever Draco was too weak to fight him back down into his cage. Zayne murdered an entire outpost of Marines, Civilians, and Rebels, then burned it down. Draco beat him back inside, and then fled, for his team reported what had happened.
There was also Torres, and good commander, and excellent leader. He was the only known Spartan captain of a ship, named the Quantum of Solace, a marvelous Prowler. That was my home for several weeks. Torres never gave mercy, except to those that deserved it. He never questioned orders, and never betrayed anyone's trust. At least, I thought......know so.
There was Zeru, who one never really knew. He could make anything from anything, and still have time to test it. He had...has no memory of his past, other than a bright light, an outline of a face, and a voice saying "Let's begin." He claims to not be able to die, but I have yet to see if this is true or not. He is also an excellent medic, saving many lives, even while his was endangered.
Jay, oh gods, Jay. An excellent soldier, never wavering, never hesitating, never stopping. She was the first one who ever stopped and looked at it from my point of view. Maybe that's why I lo....like her so much. That and she's the only one who ever beat me at sparring. I can't tell.
Anyway, there was also Collin. It seems like the only marine who never heard of me and what I did. Good man, last I saw he was helping pull our ass out of a dangerous position. I heard he lost an arm at one point, got a prosthetic, but I didn't see him afterwards.
There was also Emothic, a man who never really spoke, yet knew almost everything. He is the only person that I know of who is part of the Hellsing nation. The only ODST who was truly as good as a Spartan, and knew it. He was the most loyal person I knew, aside from Torres.
And I can't forget Ashlie, that bitch. She is the reason I lost my new family, I didn't see much of her, other than when she called the UNSC on me. I can't really blame her for that, though, I am a terrorist to the UNSC, and she is a soldier to them. She saw what I did as wrong, as do I, and took action to see that it never happens again. In her place, I would've done the same.
As I write this, I can't help but think of all the things that I experienced, and marvel at how I survived all of them.

| =A video opens up=
--Day 1-- My name is Dormii Fortuni. I...have been slipping. My team, the ship, they...show up to me, even though I let them go. I have locked myself in my room for fear of what I might do to the others. I don't want to hurt anyone, I just want these...things to go away. I thought I learned to handle them, to stop them. I thought I was safe, harmless to others. I was wrong. This is several years after the last recording you just saw. I am titling this document, the Tale of Dormii. I place this segment third so you may know what has happened, and what may happen in the future.
--Day 3-- =breathless= I am a CHANGED man. I will NOT go back to my past. I am not the man who would be dragged down into the bowels of his mind so he could relive his darkest moments. I am Dormii Fortuni, and I REFUSE TO GO BACK! DO YOU HEAR ME?! =i stand up= I REFUSE TO GO BACK WITH YOU!!
--Day 5-- They came back. They begged me to go with them, to return to what happened. I refused, they called me a coward, a weakling, a man unfitting of being a Spartan, and you know what? They're right. I can't even fight off figments of my mind, how can I possibly fight off an actual enemy?
--Day 6-- =enraged= =i bang on the walls and the door= LET ME OUT! YOU CANNOT HIDE FOREVER, COVENANT! I WILL FIND YOU! I WILL KILL YOU! YOU DESERVE TO DIE! THE OTHERS WERE NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT I CAN DO! IF YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE A THREAT, THEN YOU BETTER PRAY TO THE GODS THAT I DO NOT ESCAPE!
--Day 7-- =a crack is on the lens of the camera, and books are scattered everywhere. the bed is in disarray, and doesn't look like it has been slept in. The word "SALUS" is on the wall in burn marks= =sobbing is heard=

| =a slide show appears, with text underlining the paintings= --warning file corrupted. recover in progress. data stream: ACTV-- THE SIGN OF PURITY:Upon the cage that is Hell, stands two virtues, Kindness and Patience. Upon these virtues stands the human soul, filled with emotions and reasons. If the human soul does not stand upon both of these virtues, then it falls into Hell. If it falls into Hell, then it is lost and starts turning blind. If it turns blind, then it cannot save itself, or it's friends, or it's allies, or it's love. When it is lost, it begins to be a Minion, harming others and dragging them down with it. When you find your soul falling, remember this story, so it may be rescued. THE SIGN OF PEACE AND WAR:The human soul is protected by the Horrors of War, and yet, is able to inflict them upon others. This is done through the Filter. The Filter shows the human soul what happens, but does not let it linger. This allows the soul to be exposed to Horrors of unimaginable terror, and stay unaffected. Some Filters are stronger than others, both in the ability to prevent larger Horrors from staying, and in the ability to last longer. However, should the Filter fail, in either case, that Horror starts to lock itself inside the soul, to create havoc and destruction. If it succeeds in locking itself, it manifests in multiple ways. There is no cure from the Horrors that are locked in, there is only slowing them down. --All other data corrupted. UNABLE TO RECOVER. Loading next segment...-- | |
