| In 2281, the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion fought over the control of Hoover Dam for the second time, forcing the NCR out of Nevada, New Vegas and the surrounding areas. With this complete, Caesar turned his army east, towards the Capitol Wasteland. The NCR, wishing to stop the Legion, sent many of the survivors from Hoover Dam (bolstered by Rangers and Heavy Soldiers) east as well, hoping to stop the Legion before they became unstoppable.
Many of the tribes and settlements were mistrustful of the NCR, refusing to believe that they had their best interests at heart. These places quickly became engulfed by the Legion. By the time the NCR survivors reached the Capitol, the Legion had caught up with them. They scattered across the Wasteland, all trying to gather aid against the Legion's soldiers.
In the years after Project Purity, the Brotherhood of Steel's leader, Elder Lyons, was assassinated by Enclave Remnants, leaving the Brotherhood without a compassionate leader. Without the Brotherhood's continued attacks, the Super Mutants began to repopulate their numbers.
The Outcasts eventually returned to the Brotherhood after they "returned to their mission" under the guidance of Elder Hillion.

| The Capital Wasteland - Factions of the Capital Wasteland:
- Brotherhood of Steel - The power armored soldiers of the Wasteland, powerful and intimidating, these are perhaps the greatest troops that exist within the entire Capital Wasteland. Since the appointment of Elder Aaron Hillion, the Brotherhood accepted the previous Outcasts back into their home, and their goals have slowly begun to diverge back to what it once was, acquiring advanced technology whenever the opportunity is given. Stationed in the Citadel, DC, and Adams Air Force Base, the East Coast Brotherhood has managed to ascertain great stockpiles of tech, but at the cost of the defences it once held to determinately. Broken Steel Those who remain of the Brotherhood as seen by the previous Owyn Lyons. Formed under Paladins Kelly Williams and Gideon Temperament, the sub-faction still works actively within the Brotherhood, acting more of a political role, attempting to divert the Brotherhood to what it once was, a symbol of hope in the desert of sorrow. - The Enclave - None knew destruction like the Enclave, now. Raven Rock was obliterated after they all fled from the Oil Rig, and those that fled Raven Rock were destroyed or captured in Adams Air Force Base. Those that survived, or escaped, did not stay anywhere too long. Any kind of camp or base was forgotten to them, they were on the run from everyone now. But they did all they could, in hopes of one day rebuilding. - Raiders - Though heavily crippled due to repeated attacks from the Brotherhood, and the weight of the Wasteland itself, the Raiders are still an active and present threat to the Capital. Evergreen Mills is still their main base of operations, and though many of their other holds, like Wheaton, Bethesda, and Fairfax, they still maintain control of the many SatCom arrays, and numerous other locations across the Wasteland. - Slavers - Though initially crippled with the loss of so many of their members at the Lincoln Memorial, and the slowly incurring attacks of the Regulators, with the death of Lyons and regrowth of anarchy the Slavers have managed to rebuild, dealing often with Raiders and Talon Company. They now operate solely out of Paradise Falls, not willing to send men out further than the scouts can keep view. - Talon Company - With the growth of the Brotherhood and the destruction of the Super Mutants, the Talon Company was forced to retreat from the ruins of DC. With the death of Jabsco and loss of Fort Bannister, the Company was scattered across the wastes, taking any and all jobs offered to them. Thanks to Littlehorn & Associates, they have not yet faded from the public eye. - Reilly's Rangers - After the conclusion of Project Purity, the Rangers began to take more contracts, some from the Brotherhood, for more precarious tasks. The acquisition of Mutant DNA is a common goal now, but they still exist as a mercenary company, and have grown with the years. While not nearly as big as the Talon Company, they have still become a formidable faction in the Capital Wasteland. - Regulators - Much like the Rangers, the Regulators began to spread out and take on jobs from many more people as the Brotherhood exerted it's power. They commonly hunted down Talon Company mercenaries, and do whatever possible for the good of the Capital Wasteland. Still, they remain safe in their lone shack, their numbers ever changing, their mission ever going. - The Pitt - With the safety of Marie assured, and the slave revolt quelled, the Pitt has continued to grow and grow, and slowly thrive with time, the act of slavery being less and less needed as the location begins to turn into a proper, fundamental city. Ashur has ordered that all slaves be given proper payment from this point forward, and word has reached the Capital Wasteland of the strange, somewhat peaceful location. - Littlehorn & Associates - With the Talon Company near destroyed, Daniel Littlehorn has taken the few remaining soldiers under his wing, employing them for the goals of Littlehorn & Associates. To this day, very few know of the firm, and those that do work directly for it. Whose to say if it'll ever be dealt the swift blow of justice? - The Family - With the help of the Wanderer, the Family has been convinced to live off of Blood Packs. Though the requirement to go out and find them has proven precarious, the newer members are always willing to prove their worth to Vance.
- Brotherhood of Steel Locations:
- The Citadel - The old Pentagon, now reclaimed and modified by the Brotherhood of Steel, it still operates as the primary base and fortification of the Capital Wasteland Chapter. While it has been almost entirely mined for date and technology, it still undergoes constant upgrades and fixings, with mixtures of Vault and Enclave technology being integrated into the systems, as well as any and all old world tech that is uncovered. In the last four years it's fortifications have seen massive upgrades, now capable of keeping out nearly any kind of attacker, even an oversized Enclave force. The Laboratory has also seen upgrades, in that it's holding area for Liberty Prime was removed to make more room for the researchers. Liberty Prime himself no longer resides in the Citadel. And his location is kept secret to all but the Eldar, Senior Scribe, and Star Paladin.
- Jefferson Memorial - The number one most amazing installation in the entirety of the Capital Wasteland, and debatably the entirety of post-war America, the Jefferson Memorial has become an item of reverence in the Wastes, with even representatives from the Commonwealth coming down to study and analyze it. For this reason it is often considered one of the most important locations in the Wasteland by the Brotherhood who, despite returning to their old goals, still acknowledge the importance of the purifier to the people of the Capital Wasteland. The road between the Citadel and Jefferson Memorial has become highly populated by the water merchants and their guards. Due to Brotherhood patrols mixed with Rivet City security, this is considered one of the most enforced areas outside the Citadel.
- The Mall - With the Enclave and Mutant presences quelled in the Capital Wasteland, the Brotherhood of Steel, with the aid of numerous small mercenary groups, managed to push the Mutants and Talon Company out of D.C. and out into the Wastes. Since then the Brotherhood of Steel has occupied and dominated the Mall since then, with prominent force in the Washington Memorial and Capitol Building. Though Mutants do on occasion stumble into the Mall, they are quickly put down and kept at bay. The buildings surrounding the Mall, such as the Museums, are even now being scoured by Brotherhood squads to find any and all important or notable technology, to continue the gathering and studying of old world materials.
- Galaxy News Radio - "Hello, this is Three Dawwwg, aroooo!! And you are listening to GEE-EN-AAR, that's Galaxy News Radio in-case you forgot!" The greatest bastion of the Good Fight, Galaxy News Radio stands brilliantly in its place, it's message reaching far across the Wasteland. Many Wastelanders have exercised the desire to visit GNR, but the Brotherhood is keeping it in tight hold, considering the loss of GNR to be far too great to the morale of the Wastes. Little do many people know the Brotherhood doesn't protect Galaxy News Radio anymore. Broken Steel does.
- Capitol Building - With the prominence of the Capitol Building in it's past, the Brotherhood of Steel has once again inhabited an important building of the pre-war world. While information regarding the technological prowess remains a mystery, and many areas of the building are blocked off by ruin and debris, the Brotherhood still maintains it is an important part of their derivative and will do all they can to keep control of the building, and in direct relation the Mall itself.
- Adams Air Force Base - The final home the Enclave ever knew, the Air Force Base has been captured and heavily occupied by the Brotherhood of Steel, who have come to treat it as a second base of operations. The numerous military vehicles in the base are being repurposed and refitted to accomodate the Brotherhood of Steel. The masses of technology have made it a high priority, especially when compared to the Jefferson Memorial, which has slowly lost priority after the passing of Elder Lyons. The satellite known as Bradley-Hercules is being thoroughly studied, in hopes of being used by the Brotherhood for yet unknown purposes.
- Fort Independence - Once a base used by the Brotherhood Outcasts, the fort was refitted and formatted after the Outcasts were added back into the Codex. It has been kept as the primary base of operations of previous Outcasts, most of which retained their ranks and titles, and felt they would achieve more out of the fort than the Citadel.
- VSS Facility - With the welcoming of the Outcasts back, the Facility has become a major research station, and is used as a major hub of Brotherhood research and patrols who have been travelling. As such, it is constantly watched over and protected, and is perhaps the most untouched location in the wasteland, still with numerous levels of the facility unexplored.
- Notable Locations:
- Raven Rock - The old base of the Enclave, a practical gold mine of technology and data, it remains buried under itself after Eden was convinced to destroy himself and the base. The Brotherhood have attempted to mine the area out, but so far only a small portion of 1C and 1B has been cleared out, and it was acknowledged that the overall attempts were simply wasting manpower. It is not known what has become of Raven Rock, whether it has been occupied by creatures, Raiders, Mutants... Or things far more sinister.
- SatCom Arrays - The SatCom Arrays continue to stand as they always have, towering of the Wasteland monstrously, intimidating any who come in their view, only made more intimidating with the confirmed Raider occupation of all three towers, after both the Enclave and Talon Company were crippled and destroyed. Due to the state of the Raiders, the Brotherhood has confirmed that most date and technology within the Arrays is still claimable, and they fully intend to take it the towers when the time is right. Highwater-Trousers continues to allude the Raiders, who have no idea of it's power. If they ever found out, someone could only contemplate the devastation they could exert.
- Evergreen Mills - The mighty bastion of the Raiders, the last home of their sick drug addled forms. It still deals with the Slavers and more open minded merchants, and though the Raiders are a dying breed, Evergreen Mills is still as terrifying as ever. Few people are aware of the Bazaar within the Mills, and as such not many people are aware of how big the Raider force in Evergreen Mills has actually become; many of the fiendish people have taken to living in the Mills, in the safety of the canyon away from the Brotherhood.
- Fairfax Ruins - After being thoroughly cleared out by the Outcasts during their reintegration into the Brotherhood, the ruins were all but abandoned by their inhabitants. Since then, very little life has come to remain in the ruins, thought the utility tunnels are now inhabited by creatures of the Wastes, the Brotherhood patrols not bothered enough to clean them out and maintain the tunnels.
- Bethesda Ruins - Much like the ruins of Fairfax, Bethesda was cleansed of it's Raider presence, though not by the Brotherhood. After the fighting in the Old Olney underground, and massacre of numerous Deathclaws, the monsters moved from their home in Old Olney, spreading out across the Wasteland in vast numbers, and a large contingent moved into Bethesda. No one has been willing to visit the ruins since.
- Wheaton Armoury - While not exactly a technological standpoint, it is no less a notable fortification, and with its heavy stockpile a useful location for supplies and storage if the Brotherhood require either. It has also marked a definitive presence in a previously untapped area of the Wasteland, allowing the Brotherhood to easily operate alongside the Regulators, even if the new Elders methods have removed most interactions with the faction.
- Paradise Falls - The filthy slaver hovel, turned into a small city, the Falls have become the running and only base of Slaver actions in the Capital Wasteland, now only able to operate in and around the small view of their mall. With their numbers growing, small tents and encampments have been erected around the city for slavers unable to find places to rest inside the city. There's constant talk of anger and hate growing in the Falls, and sewings of deceit beginning to spread through the city.
- Takoma Park - One of the least contested areas in D.C, Takoma Park saw only small conflicts between Mutant and Talon Company groups, and only at times of interlocking patrol routes. After the expansion of the Brotherhood, the Mutants were pushed out and Takoma Park has become the new base of operations for many Talon Company mercs, though most have chosen to stay in the district in hopes of living out the last of their miserable days.
- Seward Square - The once heavily infested combat zone, Seward Square is the major base of operations for the rapidly growing mercenary group known as Reilly's Rangers. The metros are mostly clear, and the Capitol Building is guarded by Brotherhood Paladins, but beyond that the Square belongs entirely to the Rangers, who perform training exercise in the area, as well as do whatever they can against any small Mutant parties. To any Wasters that made it this far, Reilly allowed them to take up refuge in the abandoned homes. Very few Wasters lived in Seward Square.
- Camp Hanlon - What used to be the Overlook Drive-In and Cliffside Caverns, now claimed and fitted as a base of NCR operations in the Capital Wasteland. As tragic as it may be, the entire force of the NCR can fit easily and comfortably into both locations now that the few tents and bedrolls have been set up. The Overlook Drive-In was swept clean of the many cars and Raider abominations, and a rough dozen of tents have been set up around the hillside, with a few campfires between them. Inside the caverns, while the Yao-Gai Tunnels have been barred off limits, the interior has been cleaned and lit up, with more tents set up across the interior. While not a fort, it is all the NCR of the Mojave have left.
- Brutus - In the rocky outcroppings that used to hold F. Scott Key Trail & Campground stands the fortified camp of the Legion operations in the Capital Wasteland. While roughly as large as the site of the Legate's camp across from Hoover Dam, it's not as well fortified nor filled, with only a few tents, a small arena, and a few living areas set up across the area. Small outposts have also been setting up on nearby outcroppings, used by Frumentarii and scouts to get the lay of the land, and keep an eye out for NCR or Brotherhood soldiers. It is good, but it will get better. The Legion doesn't stop expanding.
- Vaults:
- Vault 76 - - Vault 87 - - Vault 92 - - Vault 101 - - Vault 106 - - Vault 108 - - Vault 112 -
- Settlement Locations:
- Rivet City - Though many of their scientists had left for Project Purity, others were always at work in the labs, ensuring food and water stayed pure and natural, feeding the city and ensuring it's health was kept on good terms. As the hub for the water caravans, Rivet City has seen many people come to visit and live in it, causing it to expand into further depths of the ship. Some people have even come simply to visit the Capitol Preservation Society, or the church, both of which are growing ever more popular as people come to the city. Slavers have learnt to avoid the city, after two of their kind were kicked out, and many Raiders and Merc learnt to avoid it when they heard of the android guard. Little know that he had departed to the North.
- Megaton - The second largest settlement in the Capitol, and possibly the most well known, Megaton stands at the apex of the Capitals representation, a great city forged and held and enforced, all around a memory of the war. With the mighty nuke, known as The Megaton, deactivated within the center of the city, the many pipes repaired, and The Wasteland Survival Guide distributed across the wastes, Megaton has become second, and even a rival, to Rivet City as the forefront of trade and safety in the wastes, thanks to the works of the people and of course the Lone Wanderer. Due to the distance of Megaton from the nearby Vault 101, the Brotherhood of Steel have decided to set up a small camp across from the city in the ruins of Springvale. This added defense has perturbed most all possible invaders, be them Slaves, Raiders, or even Mutants. How new enemies will react is yet to be seen.
- Tenpenny Tower - United, despite the residents desires, both ghouls and humans live happily and peacefully within the Tower now. Some of the new ghouls have even, miraculously, been given employment opportunities. Some ghouls now work as guards of the tower, while others, those more willing to screw over the humans, work inside as cleaners or store workers. If not for Daring Dashwood, it's more than likely the ghouls would revolt entirely against the tower.
- Underworld - The haven for ghouls, from any corner of the wastes, Underworld has become a major location within the Capital Wasteland, even to the extent of welcoming reformed Mutants into it's numbers, such as Uncle Leo and Fawkes. Currently, major hostilities are still active between them and the Brotherhood, but neither side has any intention of attacking the other.
- Canterbury Commons - The Lone Wanderer ended the feud between the AntAgonizer and the Mechanist. The corpse of the AntAgonizer still sits in her lair, not seen since the Wanderer ended her, while the Mechanist resides as the towns local mechanist, retired thanks to the works of the Wanderer. The town has continued to grow thanks to the Wanderers help with the caravans, now able to supply greater goods at further distances.
- Arefu - With the Family converted onto Blood Packs, Arefu was once again safe. Though it still suffered attacks form small Slaver forces, it was able to fight them off, for at least a while thanks to the aid of the Brotherhood patrols. Though for how much longer is hard to say.
- Republic of Dave - Dave lost the election, and left for the New World of Old Olney, where he was savagely torn apart by Deathclaws. The Republic continued to live as it once did, though now allowing wasters permanent visas within their beautiful and lucky land. Their heritage and home have become the stories of legend, the tales of an insane group of people trying to create a government a common joke at parties.
- Big Town - The Wanderer saved them, but it was never enough. He taught them to hide, but instead they cowered, and soon the Mutants were able to figure out what they were doing. Dusty was tragically killed giving his life for the good of the town, and his sacrifice gave the Brotherhood enough time to reinforce the city, persuaded by Initiate Bittercup of it's strategic value as an outpost for the defence of DC.
- Andale - A town of cannibals, humanely killed by a Wanderer, doing nothing but defending himself. The three lone survivors, the children and old man, retreated to Rivet City, and the town was left to rot, it's houses standing empty, the bloodied corpses dragged away by the beasts of the wastes.
- Oasis - Harold continued to live in Oasis, his final wish ignored, but his life rejuvenated. Thanks to his strange followers and the actions of the Wanderer, he has slowly begun to grow beyond the confines of the mountain of Oasis, the plant life of his body beginning to refill the areas around them. One day, DC will again be green.
- Temple of the Union - Aided by the Lone Wanderer, the freed slaves managed to inhabit the Lincoln Memorial, now in perhaps one of the safest areas of DC, surrounded by Brotherhood soldiers. Though with the growing presence of the Mutants, and rumours of a mighty Slaver faction invading the wastes, their victory may not be as well lived as they thought.
- Unique Weapons:
Not much has changed over the last few years. Weapons and ammunition remain in the same state, though the latter is beginning to very slowly diminish. While it's not anything to worry about yet, soon it could prove troublesome. On the many travels the Lone Wanderer took, he found many strange, interesting, and powerful weapons. Now of course, he didn’t find them all like most expected, but he found many. And here, they are chronicled, all rare or unique weapons and their status as it is known.

Perhaps one of the last great minds of the modern day America, Samuel Hillion is a corrupted and fooled old man, blinded by the goal that he and his chapter were sent to complete. Ever since they arrived, he continued with their goal of gathering technology, despite the work of Lyons and his followers. Samuel Hillion was considered one of the greatest Paladins of the time, his skill at gaining and obtaining old technology unrivalled, even by the Outcasts, who he openly sympathized with. After taking over the Brotherhood of Steel, Hillion united the Outcasts, and quickly reverted all goals and missions to that of gathering the technology of D.C. Though he has been met with strong defiance, but he is sure and certain to keep to their goals, even if it means the destruction of the people of the Capital Wasteland.

The United States of America - The New California Republic:
The barely standing civilization built upon the ruins of California and growing ever on, until the Legion reared its head. The New California Republic is, or was, a renowned federation based on the ideals and methods of the old world, rebuilding what was left left in hopes of revitalising what once was, based on governing control and military expansion. During the gap between the First and Second Battle of Hoover Dam, the Republic saw it's hold in the Mojave shattered and beaten by the works of a key individual. At his hand, almost every major outpost was, in some way, beaten. And with what was left of their morale shattered, they stood no chance against the wrath of Caesar.
Despite having footings from Arroyo to Dayglow, the Republic has slowly started to diminish since the loss of the Mojave, and the advancements of Caesars Legion, invading every area reachable. While many towns have been lost, many more are rallying together to fight the threat, in hopes of undoing the terrible damage already wrought, their morale crippled but their souls strong.
- Caesars Legion:
The Caesars Legion. A mighty utilitarian regime built on the shoulders of those first that founded it, and carried by the last who remained. The Legion established itself as a tribe unlike any other when it's leaders were captured and nearly destroyed. By training their captives, however, they were able to form a great and powerful force, conquering any and all tribes that got in their way, be it with peaceful assimilation or force, or if the situation was dire, violence. During the stalemate over the Mojave, with the aid of the Courier, now appointed the Vegas Praefect, the Mojave slowly fell to the heel of Caesar. And after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, the deserts fate was sealed.
The Legion, reinforced by the Great Khans, White Legs, and tribes of Vegas, felt themselves grow exponentially. With their losses almost nullified by the growth, the Legion had no reason to not continue their assault, and without hesitation they began their invasion into California, and some predict, the fall of the New California Replublic.
- The Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel:
When the Brotherhood crashed in the Midwest, they set up their own base of operations. while they initially hoped to set up a connection back West, as time went by their own troubles became far too grand.
After besting the many enemies of the Midwest, the Raiders, Beastlords, Mutants and Robots, the Midwestern Brotherhood found itself in the pristine position, and soon they began the unification of the Midwest. With the discrimination of mutantes outlawed, the Midwest felt itself changing insanely. Over the last hundred years, the wasteland began to change, and has become a post-nuclear utopia, nesteled safely under the arms of the Brotherhood.
- The Capital Wasteland Brotherhood of Steel:
On the ruins of D.C, stand the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood of Steel, almost entirely diverged from their cousins in the West. When the Chapter arrived, their Elder Lyons was moved by the decrepit nature of the people in the ruins of the city and the surrounding Wasteland, and so quickly took it upon himself to establish a base and begin a fight against the horribly demented threats to the people, Mutants, not at all like those from the West.
When a mysterious Wanderer stumbled upon D.C, it was with his aid that the Citadel and the Brotherhood began to properly act against their enemies, and even when the remnants of old enemies from the Oil Rig reared their heads, the Brotherhood was able to beat them back twice, before finally destroying them entirely. With a foothold set, the Brotherhood began their peaceful union of the Wastes. After an unfortunate twist of fate, the Wanderer, the Lyons bloodline, and the few other leaders of the Chapter were killed, resulting in the appointment of a new Elder and a new goal; gathering technology, as was always intended. This change has crippled the morale of the Brotherhood, and possibly sealed the doom of the Capital Wasteland.
Those Who Could Change The World - The Vault Dweller:
The Vault Dweller, the man who was alone sent out into the Wastes with a simple task, became the most influential being in the post-war world, and he didn't even know it.
In Shady Sands, a small city visited by the Vault Dweller, the leader Aradesh was aided by his daughter Tandi, and together they brought a new community and new life out of the broken remains of the world. They were responsible for the New California Republic, whose ideals spread across the land, and forged to create one of the most powerful nations in the post-war world. The Followers of the Apocalypse had risen to become a major influence in New California. With the Vault Dwellers help, they gained control of the LA Boneyard, and later became a major part of California's continued existence.
After the Vault Dweller intervened, Killian Darkwater took firm control of Junktown, driving out the last of Gizmo's kind, and enforcing his own brand of frontier justice. Life is fair and safe under his law, and it grew into a safe town under his law and beyond it. The ghoul city of Necropolis, albeit a haven for a time, was later attacked and razed to the ground by Mutant soldiers. The mutant attack spares none of the ghoulish inhabitants. After the mutant armies advance, they leave a truly dead city behind them, and all in the search of a certain human. With the assistance of the Vault Dweller, Old Harold brouth the ghoul population of the Hub into equality with the humans. The two sides worked together, and the Hub prospered for years. Old Harold lived peacefully, moving East, to Lord knows what kind of fate.
Thanks to the persistence of the Vault Dweller, the Raiders were destroyed as an effective fighting force, and disbanded. None of the Raider survivors were heard from in California for years to pass.
Under the requests and influence of the Vault Dweller, The Brotherhood of Steel helped the other human outposts drive the mutant armies away with minimal loss of life, on both sides of the conflict. The advanced technology of the Brotherhood was slowly reintroduced into New California, with little disruption or chaos. The Brotherhood wisely remained out of the power structure, and became a major research and development house for year to come, until a great threat appeared before them.
The tasks set to him by his Vaults Overseer were only part of his influence, and when he was sent out to protect the Vault again, he alone destroyed the Mariposa military base and the Cathedral, and killed their terrible leader The Master, signalling the end of the Mutant threat in the West for a longer time than many can even comprehend. The death of the Master was the first major step towards ending his mad dream of conquest and enforced peace, but it was the destruction of the Vats that neutralized the mutant threat. Without the ability to create more mutants and enforce their harsh brand of justice, the mutant armies fled to the east, beyond the no-man's land, and into the empty world beyond.
After his return, the Vault Dweller was not granted the honor of a heros welcome. He was a threat to the Vault, and he was not safe to let back in. The Overseer, Jacoren, had to turn him away. And with that, the Vault Dweller marched into the desert sands, leaving the Vault, his home, behind him.
- The Chosen One:
The Chosen One, the grandson of the Vault Dweller, was not as influential as his heritage, but his actions in the Wasteland had a great effect none the less, changing the shape of the Wasteland for years to come.
After the Enclave's destruction, the refugees of Arroyo and Vault 13 resettled, building a new community with the aid of the Garden of Eden Creation Kit. Finding themselves hundreds of miles from their Vault, the members of Vault 13 chose to join the villagers in establishing a new community, and their technical expertise, combined with the villagers survival skills, allowed the new settlement to grow and prosper. Two generations of the same bloodline were re-united, and their savior, the Chosen One, became Elder, presiding over the village in the years to come.
Relations between the Slags and residents of Modoc flourished pleasantly. Between the two peoples, Modoc prospered and became a major farming community, supplying all the outlying regions with food and aiding hundreds of lives. With Metzger gone at the hands of the Chosen One, slavery disappeared from the area. Becky's Casino Bar grew quickly, and Rebecca Dyer's reputation as an honest casino and bar owner brought her the business needed to buy out her competition and expand indefinitely. The Den flourisheed, and it soon gained a reputation for being a tough, but honest, community, even nearly a hundred years later.
Optimizing Gecko's power plant became the first step in forging a spirit of cooperation between Gecko and Vault City. Gecko's increased power production became instrumental in helping Vault City's expansion. The harsh xenophobia of many of Vault City's leaders faded into obscurity while ghoul and human labored side-by-side to create a center of learning and tolerance where once had stood only enmity and distrust. People still hear mention of Harold from time to time. Apparently, the tree growing from his head has gotten larger, and if rumors are to be believed, fruit is growing from it. The seeds are said to be remarkably tough, and several of them have taken root even in the most barren stretches of the wasteland.
In the years following the destruction of the Enclave, Vault City continued to stagnate, choking on its own isolationism. Its Vault 8 generator, which was never intended to support such a large population, prevented Vault City's necessary expansion. Eventually, the city was absorbed by NCR, which had spread steadily northwards since its founding. Several years after buying the Excavator Chip from the Chosen One, Marge LeBarge is able to purchase and control both the Morningstar and the newly opened Kokoweef mines. Marge is an easy choice for Mayor, and using her new political power, she makes Redding join the growing New California Republic in return for a seat in the NCR's Hall of Congress. With the support the Chosen One secured from the New California Republic, the Vault 15 squatters soon become self-sufficient and productive members of society. The Chosen Ones help with Vault 15 launched the New California Republic's push to civilize its neighbors. Though there were many more obstacles to overcome, the NCR now had a foothold into the northern wastes.
Not long after the destruction of the Enclave, the Bishop Family of New Reno was blessed with a child. This child seemed to have little in common with the Bishops, preferring instead to spend his days exploring the wastes. Myron died less than a year after the defeat of the Enclave, stabbed by a jet addict while drinking in the Den. His discovery of jet was quickly forgotten, and now there is no one who remembers his name. With their jet production halted with the discovery of a cure, the Mordino Family quickly lost ground in New Reno and were absorbed by the other families. Most became enforcers or slaves, and the name Mordino was soon forgotten. Though the Wright Family never completely recovered from Richard's death, the knowledge that the killer had been brought to justice eased their troubled sleep. Within a year of the Enclave's destruction, the Wright Family turned from criminal activity to legitimate pursuits. Several schools and churches were established in New Reno, along with a law enforcement body that crippled the influence of the families. Though New Reno lost much of its edge, the city obtained a certain solidity that appealed to newcomers. Many came to Reno, not to visit, but to live, and the population increased threefold. Today the test scores of New Reno high school graduates are greater than many Californian schools before the War. When the Bishop child turned thirteen, he seized control of the Bishop Family and led them to victory over the remaining New Reno families. He died quietly in his sleep at the age of seventy-three, never having known his real father.
With the destruction of the conspiracy to destroy the mutants, Broken Hills began to thrive. Then the uranium ran out. The city, having lost its sole reason for existing, slowly dispersed. The residents carried their riches with them, leaving the place a wind-swept, desolate ghost town. A few hold-outs remained, attempting to eke out a pathetic existence, but eventually, they too, disappeared. nspired by the example set by the Chosen One, Marcus eventually traveled across the great mountains to the east, searching for other refugees from the Master's army. Most never heard from him again.
With your aid, the deathclaws of Vault 13 became a thriving community. When the vault could no longer hold their numbers, a peaceful campaign of expansion was launched to claim the surrounding lands... The Shi flourished, creating a botanical scourge on the radiation surrounding their beloved town. Though this vine could not grow in other soils, the Shi took care to nourish it in their lands. They continued to grow in strength and prominence, forming the basis of a new empire. The Hubologists grew tired of waiting for the Star Father to come for them or provide the fuel they needed. Using a cheap derivative fuel, they launched an abortive effort to reach the stars themselves. Their shuttle exploded moments after take off.
The destruction of the Enclave erased all trace of President Richardson from history. Now the title of "President" is used simply a bogeyman used to frighten children.
As for the tanker vagrants… well, as vagrants do, they drifted on.
- The Warrior:
Deep in the Warrior's heart the decision had been made long ago, to forfeit one's life for the security of others what nobler end could there be? Sacrifices were always expected but to lose one's mortal shell and join with a machine is not an ending, instead it is a new beginning revolving around the rebirth of humanity. The first command to speed through the new Calculator's relays was the disabling of the active robotic forces averting the sterilization of all life on the continent. The Warrior's mind had proved itself exceptional time and again in the field of battle now working in conjunction with the Calculator's sheer processing power a union between the Brotherhood of Steel and the robotic forces quickly took shape, and an empire was forged.
The region saw new laws established to ease humanity back into civilized life laws that were strictly enforced by the combined patrols of Brotherhood soldiers and pacification robots. To speed the unification process, discrimination against mutantes wass outlawed, many prejudices were eliminated through education or the harsh implementation of Brotherhood Justice. The willingness to overcome differences opened avenues of recruitment that would otherwise remained unutilized. Mutated creatures that wished to live in peace under the new regime were welcomed, though hesitantly into the population. Old hatreds and fears were soon forgotten as the task at hand became apparent; humans, ghouls, super mutants and deathclaws all working together to begin transforming the wastelands into a post nuclear utopia. The combined knowledge of the Brotherhood and Calculator's databases were a powerful tool for reshaping the world and no time is wasted. Technology was slowly re-introduced into the land; irrigation systems were established bringing water to the barren soils for the first time in decades.
New settlements sprung up as land became fertile once again, with places of learning becoming the hubs of the fledgling civilization. A combination of old world science with new world wisdom paved the way to higher understanding and unity amongst the population. The new regime began to expand across the wasteland absorbing towns and villages and quickly dispatching those who would halt progress. Soon the Brotherhood was protector to a string of settlements, as the Brotherhood's power grows so does it's hold on the wasteland, but one question remains; what will happen when this young civilization encounters the original knowledge hording Brotherhood of Steel? The Scribes and Elders prepare for the meeting and hope to put differences in the past as the future of mankind hangs in the balance but that is a battle for another day and perhaps another hero.
- The Lone Wanderer:
And so it was that the Lone Wanderer ventured forth from Vault 101 intent on discovering the fate of a father who has once sacrificed the future of humanity for that of his own child.
The Capital Wasteland proved a cruel inhospitable place, but the Lone Wanderer refused to surrender to the vices that had claimed so many others. The values passed on from father to child – selflessness, compassion, honor – guided this noble soul through countless trials and triumphs.
But it was not until the end of this long road that the Lone Wanderer learned the true meaning of that greatest of virtues – sacrifice. Stepping into the irradiated control chamber of Project Purity, the child followed the example of the father sacrificing life itself for the greater good of mankind. Thankfully, when selected by the sinister president to be his instrument of annihilation, the Wanderer refused. Humanity with all its flaws was deemed worthy of preservation. The waters of life flowed at last – free and pure, for any and all. The Capital Wasteland at long last was saved.
So ends the story of the Lone Wanderer, who stepped through the great door of Vault 101 and into the annals of legend. But the tale of humanity will never come to a close, for the struggle of survival is a war without end, and war – war never changes.
- The Courier:
And so the Courier, who had cheated death in the cemetery outside Goodsprings, cheated death once again, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed.
Caesar entered The Strip as though it was his Triumph. The Legion pushed the NCR out of New Vegas entirely, driving them back to the Mojave Outpost. The Legion occupied all major locations, enslaving much of the population and peacefully lording over the rest. Under the Legion's banner, civilization - unforgiving as it was - finally came to the Mojave Wasteland. The Legion marched over the Hoover Dam with the help of one who was as brutal and merciless as the worst of them: The Courier. Caesar honored him with a golden coin, minted in celebration of his contributions and distributed throughout the wasteland.
Impressed with The Kings' continued attacks upon NCR citizens and soldiers, the Legion offered them the option of being assimilated into the Legion. The Kings refused, and briefly became slaves in the Legion, but after a failed escape attempt, they were all put to death. With the transplant of Lupa's brain, Rex gained all of the donor's experiences traveling with the Legion. These melded well with his own memories of the Legion, and his new mind quickly adjusted to the myriad memories.
After the Legion's victory, Caesar, out of a strange respect for his old fellows, allowed the Followers safe passage out of the wasteland. Reluctantly, the Followers accepted the offer and abandoned Old Mormon Fort to the Legion. Tricked by the Courier and imprisoned by the Legion, Arcade remained Caesar's personal physician for several years. Caesar grew fond of speaking with such an educated man on philosophical matters. Arcade became his unwilling intellectual sparring partner. After years of such servitude, during an unguarded moment, Arcade used a surgical scalpel and his bare hands to disembowel himself. Lacking any other skilled medical personnel, the Legion was unable to prevent his death. Caesar mourned his loss for months.
The Legion, preoccupied with its acquisition of New Vegas, scarcely took notice of the town of Goodsprings. Many locals moved on, fearful of Caesar's long shadow. Only the old and the stubborn remained. During the Legion's attack on Novac, Bright Followers, returning from their long pilgrimage, assisted in its evacuation. Though Novac eventually fell to the Legion, many citizens of Novac were able to escape, alive and intact. Despite NCR's pledge to support Primm, they abandon the town after their loss to Caesar. Though Caesar keeps Primm open for business, its citizens live under the constant watch of Legion soldiers.
Rose of Sharon Cassidy died as her caravan died - in an unmarked grave, another victim of the Mojave. Driven mad by Caesar's victory at Hoover Dam, and unable to escape his memories, Boone staged a suicide mission against the Legate. Fighting as he wished he would've fought on the day of his wife's death, he brought down scores of Legionaries before being caught. Before his crucifixion, he was brought before the Legate, who expressed his admiration for Boone's reckless abandon. Boone spat tobacco in his eye, for all of Caesar's armies to see. ED-E remained forgotten in the shop of Johnson Nash, until it was repaired by another courier who let it continue on its journey to Navarro. ED-E was eventually discovered by the Followers of the Apocalypse who managed to recover vast databanks of scientific knowledge. Lily continued to take her medicine at half-doses, and although she remembered her grandchildren, her mind remained muddled and confused. Eventually, she parted ways with the Courier and traveled west, seeking the remnants of her past. Though some super mutants and nightkin continued to journey to the legendary Utobitha, they found little trace of its existence. Some eventually found their way to Jacobstown, but many wandered off into the wastes, confused and disheartened. After a long and eventful life, Raul's luck finally ran out during his time with the Courier.
As reward for their loyal service, Caesar forcibly integrated the Great Khans into the Legion. The sick and elderly were killed, the women sold as wives to ranking officers, and the tribe's identity was annihilated. Though many Great Khans mourned the death of their tribe, many more were ultimately satisfied with their revenge against NCR. After the majority of the Vault 19 Powder Gangers joined the Great Khans, the weaker members scattered throughout the Mojave Wasteland. Though a few managed to erase their pasts, most never survived the journey. Most Powder Gangers at the Correctional Facility fled into the wasteland rather than face the advancing forces of the Legion. Those brave or foolish to remain were killed or crucified by the merciless Legionaries. The Fiends attacked Camp McCarran during the Second Battle of Hoover Dam and suffered heavy losses. Caesar, unimpressed with their performance and their dependence on chems, had them exterminated.
With no cure for the nightkin's schizophrenia in sight, the disgruntled nightkin left Jacobstown. Without a treatment, their insanity grew. The crazed nightkin terrorized the wasteland, and Jacobstown suffered repeated reprisals from mutant-hating humans. In the end, the surviving mutants abandoned Jacobstown entirely, its existence quickly forgotten by the rest of the wasteland.
Buried beneath tons of rubble, the Mojave chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel was no more. Those few who were outside the Hidden Valley bunker when it was destroyed settled into new lives, or headed west to find a new chapter to join. Hoping to lead the Mojave Brotherhood down a new path, Veronica sought to learn from the thriving cultures of the desert. Absent a firm solution, Veronica's expression of frustration with Brotherhood leadership would lead to her banishment. She ended her days a wandering tinker.
Cautious after the Boomers' display of power at Hoover Dam, Caesar chose to leave the Boomers alone. The Boomers remained isolated but have been seen flying over the Mojave Desert from time to time.
Merciless in their assault on the NCR, the Remnants struck fear into the hearts of even the centurions at Hoover Dam. Well aware of the full extent of their power, Caesar commanded his troops to not pursue them.
Due to the Courier's intervention, Chief Hanlon abandoned his plan to sabotage the defense of Hoover Dam. The rangers heroically assisted NCR's troopers in their ill-fated defense against the overwhelming power of Caesar's Legion. Though many NCR military officers fled the territory soon after the dam was lost, Chief Hanlon remained at Camp Golf to surrender to the Legion. Out of respect for Hanlon's composure and worth as an adversary, Caesar had him beheaded. The Misfits' laziness caught up with them when the Legion attacked Camp Golf. Those who weren't killed in the attack attempted to flee, but were caught at Mojave Outpost, court-martialed, and hanged from the ranger monument.
And so the Courier's road came to an end... for now. In the new world of the Mojave Wasteland, fighting continued, blood was spilled, and many lived and died - just as they had in the Old World. Because war... war never changes.

| In 2281, the Second Battle of Hoover Dam began. The conflict between the NCR and the Legion tore the state of Nevada apart. With incomparable defeat imminent as the NCR outposts across the Mojave, from Fiend attacks to Legion assault, the NCR were forced out, retreating through the Mojave Outpost, as New Vegas and the Mojave were swept clean of the profligates. With his first stage complete, Caesar began to weigh his options. His forces split in two, the greater mass heading into California, to destroy what was left of the NCR, while another force led by the up and coming Gais Magnus marched East, towards the shores of the East.
The remnants of the Mojave NCR, along with the last of the Rangers, were quick to take control after their crippling defeat. Scouting parties were sent home, small enough to avoid the Legion patrols and prepare California for what was to come, while those under the command of self-appointed General Cassandra Moore went East, after the Legion force that had obliterated them at the Dam. Many of the tribes and settlements along the Texas and Gulf Commonwealth were mistrustful of the NCR, refusing to believe that they had their best interests at heart. These places quickly became engulfed by the Legion, either unable to fight or not driven too. By the time the NCR survivors reached the Capitol, the Legion had caught up with them. They scattered across the Wasteland, all trying to gather aid against the Legion's soldiers.
In the years after the disaster and activation of Project Purity, the Brotherhood of Steel saw itself grow across DC, expanding beyond their borders into the surrounding lands, to the Commonwealth and beyond. While they became a feasible power, comparable even to their home base in the Lost Hills, they made and had many enemies left, despite their great purges across the Capital.
In 2280, on the third anniversary of the Wanderers arrival into the Wasteland, during a trip to begin new relations with The Institute, The East Coast Brotherhood was shaken by the assassination of the Elder Owyn Lyons, Sentinel Sarah Lyons and Lone Wanderer. Due to the pure shock of this event, many of the actions within the Chapter were frozen as the Brotherhood reeled in response. By order of the Star Paladin, the Lyons Pride left with her to The Institute, to follow through with the cause the three noble people had lost their lives over.
In the time between the deaths and appointment of a new Elder, the Brotherhood was lost. The Mutants began to grow again, expanding out of the same Vault that had been on lockdown before. When a new Elder was appointed, the Chapter was forced to revert to their old ways, hoarding technology and hiding from the people of the Wasteland. Under new rule, the Outcasts were welcomed back into the Brotherhood, though shakily to begin with.
With the Brotherhood broken, and the Legion and NCR already set up within the Wastes, the fate of the Capital Wasteland is a mystery. For now. | |
