Truth and stuff.

Okay, okay. Ive been asked outright multiple times, and Ive been even asked to do something very specific four times. So, I feel that I cant keep this thing under wraps anymore.

Yes, Nick is A Friend, as many have asked me. Yes, I knew from the beginning. It started out as something that he did and told me about as a way to voice opinions and shit without being totally wrecked on as seems to be a habit here, you know who you are. I was told after the Vote was called to rotate the mods. Naturally, I saw this as a pretty decent idea (as evident by the fact that I voted for it) after all the things I've heard from both sides about what happened in the past, I figured it would be best to wipe everything clean.

Shit didn't exactly go according to plan. I haven't been around much in the last few says, as the great conqueror that is Guild Wars 2 has all but taken my soul. But shiessewagons, I've heard some shit. Mainly about people wanting A Friend to go die in a hole, to put it lightly. I never expected things to get this bad.

See, the problem that presented itself to me is that I needed to do something about A Friend, as he was apparently causing oh so much shit on the site, but from what I had seen with my own two eyes he hadn't actually broken any rules.
(The "Don't be an asshole" rule of L&D is not one that exists here).
So I had to pretty much take it and try to talk it out with Friend/Nick. That's what happened today.

What happened about 30 minutes ago is another problem that presented itself to me:
Oh shit, I swore confidentiality to Nick on this
Oh shit, that means I'm lying to the people who ask me outright, and the site as a whole.

So, this is me deciding that it's gone too far, this is a special case where confidentiality takes a back seat to truth. Admins aren't supposed to lie, they're supposed to be honest and trustworthy, which is why I feel this needs to come out no later than right goddamn now.

So, in summary, I can't bring myself to keep you guys in the dark on this anymore. You deserve to know, especially after what's happened. So, I hope I've made the situation clear, brought some things to light, and put some things at relative ease. If anyone has any questions, post them here, PM me, or say so in the chatbox or hit me up on Steam and ill answer them to the best of my knowledge. For now, i guess that's it.


PS, The rules still apply, I wont tolerate harassment, regardless of the situation you know who you are.

In hindsight, I have no idea. I think at the time what i saw it as was an opprotunity to let a user who got totally shit on for voicing an opinion to say things anonymously. Obviously, thats not what came of it either.

Voicing opinions is what you are allowed to do either way. Any opinion you want to voice can be done so. Any suggestion you want for the site can be done so. You don't need to go through all...THIS to get it heard or done. I don't know how many more times this needs to be said, but here's one more.

I am extremely angry and disappointed with both parties in this, being Xazhi and Nick.

In a nutshell?

I wanted to understand what people thought of me. I couldn't outright ask because of already existing bias against me.

I also wanted to know where I went wrong. Where I lost myself when I was an Admin. I cannot look back in hindsight at my own actions and see where I went wrong. I'm too biased. I couldn't ask you as myself because of pre-existing bias. I did learn where I lost myself. I also learned a lot more than I thought I would.

Looking back, I can see where I was arrogant and failed as an admin.

However, I can see where I was blinded by things happening IRL (which I'm not talking about). I can also see where I was blinded by my own stubbornness.


I also wanted to voice my opinion without having the opinion associated with me. Because opinions associated with me are generally automatically biased against.

You should also understand the "A Friend" is a fictional character. As an actor, I had to follow through with "his" personality. Which, obviously, pissed people off.


And Garth, If I had voiced my opinion it would have been held against me. There's too much blood between me and other users on the site.

Again, I understand. I'm not trying to justify anything right now, but there are some things Id like to say.

Shit got way out of hand, and got a lot nastier than I ever expected. Had I been around for most of it, you can bet your ass I'd have stopped it from the getgo. But my logic at the time was that maybe He could have a fresh start, as some people who know who they are made him feel VERY unwelcomed. Also, I had been away at GW2 as you may have noticed, so I only learned about a lot of the shit that stormed this very afternoon. And I'm sure Nick never intended things to get this bad, but they did anyway.

I would also like to call to attention some of the things that lead to this point, in hopes that we can avoid them in the future.

One of them being that some members who know who they are have made Nick feel totally unwelcomed and unwanted here. That alone is really sad. But some of the things ive seen with my own two eyes, like the one or two comments on the vote to bring him back to adminship? Unacceptable. And that's just what I can see. Don't even get me started on what I've heard. Not just from him, but from a bunch of people. T'aint right. Just so many things that I wish I'd never heard, never read, awful things. And I can't ever see any of them for myself because someone deleted it all. Assuming all of what Ive been told was true, that was a damn good precaution, because I probably would have been REALLY pissed. Just take a step back and think about that for a moment, all who are/were involved. Really take a look back. I guarantee there will be some things in there that you dont find very pretty at all.

I swore confidentiality to a member. If, while not knowing things had gone sour, and even before they did, I kept that promise to him as I did, where is the issue there? The issue is that things went bad, nobody who was supposed to did anything, and nobody bothered to tell me. So in my mind at the time, Nick was getting a fresh start on the site without any real issue. Why would I go behind his back and kill his one chance at that for him?

This is the point I'm trying to get across in chat.

Mods could have done something about this.
They didnt.
ANYONE could have either contacted me, or told someone who could to do so.
They didnt.

How the hell was I supposed to know things had gone bad? I wanst in the chat when he was, save maybe one time for like a minute before I went back to GW2.

If things really got as bad as I'm told they did
WHY WAS NOTHING DONE?
I understand that he never broke any rules, but if it was THAT BIG of a problem, couldn't a vote have been called? Or something?

But my biggest question is why nobody came to me. If things got as bad as they did that I needed to break confidentiality with a member who put his trust in me AFTER all this was supposedly said and done, I'm SURE something could have been done while it was going on.



Let me run this situation by you, okay?

A person comes up to you and tells you a secret about themselves. Maybe theyve been bullied in school for being a fan of fireworks or something. They want to get a fresh start in a new school. If you ran over to that school, and spread the word, what kind of person would you be?
BUT
Assume that this person upon getting to their new school started planting bombs in the toilets. Someone sees this and tells their friends. You are one of a handfull of people that can talk them down from blowing up the school. And you aren't informed. What are you to do when you are told after the school gets blown up? Yeah, you can say you knew they liked Fireworks, but did you expect they were gonna blow up the school? Probably fucking not, right? But if someone had told you, would you have done something to stop it from happening before it did? I should hope so.

Thats the situation Im in right now in a nutshell. Yes, something could have gone wrong. No, I didnt think it would, and I certainly didnt think it would on this scale. But, nobody bothered to come get me so I could fix it, since apparently the others available didnt. So now the school is blown up, and it's on my head because i knew Nick liked fireworks.

Do you see my point now? Probably not, but I can try to make it as clear as I can in hopes that someone will.
