Soul Academy RP

I looked on as Cain left, barely waiving my own hand. I suppose my burst of confidence was just that: a burst. I was quickly going back to my timid self, but not before I managed to say, quite audibly, "Bye Cain." Then I looked to Rei and Lily. "So....what now?"

I turned my back on Cain, facing towards the girl's dorms again.
"We still need to go to Rei's room."

I started walking again, a little annoyed at Rei for being so careless with what she said.

From Lily to Rei, I looked between the two girls, unsure of who to really walk with. Well, in this case I could walk with Lily or stand with Rei. The reason I was so indecisive was because of the difference between the two girls. So far Rei seemed a very friendly, open girl. So very unlike the shy, timid and inverted me. Then there was Lily, who seemed to be....not cold, but very business minded, always in a rush and if the past few minutes were an indicator, a bit rude to those that weren't really part of the plan. Whatever that plan was anyway.

But hey, she was the one that needed my help for whatever it was they were doing. So she wouldn't be any of the above to me, right? So I started walking, at a slow pace, staying between Lily and Rei....at least until Rei started moving again anyway.

I knew something was up. What that girl said obviously raised some suspicion do as I turned the corner I stopped snd waited for them to head to the girls dorm. Dneaking wasn't that difficult, specially for me. I followed the group in suit.

Rei sighed softly and hurried after Lily.
"This way." She told Jason, opening the girl's dorm. Rei led the group to her room, ushering them in. "Come on."

I entered the dorm, if somewhat nervous. What? It was the girls dorm, I doubted they allowed guys in here. But it didn't seem like I had a choice.

I walked over to where I'd left my map,
"Jason," I said, looking back over my shoulder, "Close the door and come look."

Rei pushed him forward and closed the door. She sat on her bed, watching them intently.

Okay, I certainly felt nervous again. Alone in a room with two cute girls; most guys would be drooling, all their blood leaving their head and traveling down to their groin. Me? Don't get me wrong, I certainly thought both girls were attractive. But I don't move that fast, either in thinking or even in hope. Odds were they needed me for some kind of school project and the cloak and dagger stuff was their way to make the project enjoyable. Treat a homework assignment like a game.

So I walked over to Lily to see what she needed me to see.

Showing Jason the map, I explained what I'd heard.

"When I was in the infirmary, I overheard some teachers talking about a demon," I pointed at some circles on the map, "I've figured out where it was attacking, and from that, where it's hiding,"

I looked at him,
"We need to go through Lamorak to get there, but Rei and I haven't been there."

Wait, that was why they needed me? To be the freaking tour guide? I almost felt like mentioning that I hadn't actually been to where she was pointing in Lamorak......but that wasn't really true. I'd been around there before on occasion, my parents taking me out on trips just to get out of the house and away from town. So while I didn't know the area like the back of my hand, I knew enough to maybe, maybe be what Lily was looking for. Still, I figured I may as well say something. "So....you went to all this trouble for a tour guide?"

"Who else is there to ask?" I asked, not dropping my gaze, a bit surprised at his reaction, "Besides, you could become that kid who killed a demon, rather than 'butterfingers." I'd overheard that rumour as well, it's surprising how much you can learn by listening.

Despite the fact that I was the shy kid who shrank away from confrontations.....I found myself bristling at the word butterfingers. Goddammit, even among friendly girls I couldn't escape the moniker. "That's provided the demon doesn't kill me. Or all of you." Lifting my head I looked at the two of them. "I mean are you both insane? We're just students! Hell I'm a first year with no idea of how to use his damned Soul, and you want to drag me along on a demon hunt?"

"It's a weak demon," I said, "If one low class angel was sent after it, I think the three of us should be able to kill it,"

Well it seemed clear she was going to be the hubris of this little group. Though she may have had a point. If a demon of that power garnered the response of a low class angel, then it was likely that it wasn't all that powerful. But.....like I said, I was a first year with no idea of how to use my Soul. I didn't know how to fight with it, or what powers it held. But.....it would be a bit of a trip between here and there. Maybe....

"If I say yes, then I'd like something in return."

"Which would be...?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. This was something I hadn't expected.

I sighed. "During the trip, I'd like it if you and Rei could maybe train me on how to fight. If you can I mean, otherwise I'll just be dead weight."

"Is that it?" To be honest, I hadn't expected that, I don't know what I'd expected. "Yes, if Rei agrees, of course?" I glanced over my shoulder to Rei.

Rei nodded
"I agree. We could use the help."

Sighing, I closed my eyes for a moment. When I opened them, I looked at both of them. "Okay, then I'll come along."

"Thank you," I said, "It'd be better if we went tonight. We have plenty of time to get there and back, plus, if we can't concentrate or we can't go to school, we only miss two lessons."

"Tonight? Okay but uh.....how are we getting there? Taking the train?" Because if not there was no way we could walk there and get back before anyone noticed we were gone.

"Of course," I said, "I checked, it runs from here every hour at half-past. All we need to do is get on."

"Do we need to buy tickets or something?"

"We're students here, so no. But we'll have to get on before it gets too late," I said, scratching the back of my neck, "So that it looks like we're just going shopping or something."

"Yeah, or something. Just so you know, I'm not really the shopping type.......unless we hit a bookstore maybe."

"Don't worry, we won't actually have to do any shopping," I answered him, "Just make it look like we are."

"So....does this mean we need to get souvenirs as proof we did some shopping?" I looked from Lily to Rei. "Ya know, just in case someone wants to know what we bought while shopping?"

I shrugged,
"Just say that there was nothing you wanted." I paused for a second, "Or you could buy a new sheath for your soul."

"Yeah.....a sheathe might be outside my price range."

"Then maybe a book, like you said." I replied, looking back at my map. "We should meet at the train in a couple of hours."

So, we weren't sticking together until heading out. Yay.....I guess. "So, I guess I'll just be in my room if anyone needs me then?"

"I can buy you a sheathe." Rei said. "Its no problem. It's a must!" She smiled hrightly. She then looked at Lily micheviously. "Maybe get you down into the ladies aisle?"

"But I already have a sheathe...." Then I saw the look on her face when she looked at Lily. One of mischief and....something else. Something I'd never seen before. Closest I could think of was the look on a fat kid eyeing a bar of chocolate.

I glared at Rei as she voiced her suggestion,
"Don't even try it, Rei."

Maybe it was me, but I could have sworn I saw Lily's eyes spark with lightning. "Uh....should I go now and leave you two alone?"

Rei looked sad. "Kay..." she turned to Jason. "Sorry. Didnt mean to make you feel left out."

"Not left out.....so much as intruding." I looked at Lily. "If it's a personal thing, I can go now and meet you all later."

=heads out of the room and walks up and down the hall to stretch her legs while thinking to herself=

"So, shall we meet at the train station in about an hour?" I looked at both of them as I spoke.

Rei nodded before looking to Jason. "Need some company to walk back to your dorm? Or can you make it on your own just fine?" She asked politely.

On the one hand, I didn't mind going back on my own. On the other....it would be nice to have company in case the Hunters showed up again. "Uh...sure, why not?"

Smiling, Rei gave Lily a big hug. "Be right back." She then tied all five swords onto her, and stood there in full battle regali.
"Let's go!"

Nodding, I opened the door and walked out, Rei following behind. When she was out, I closed the door and began walking back to my room. I noticed that I didn't seem that afraid anymore; the fear was still there but I didn't feel paralyzed by it. Rei, who walked with me, certainly seemed energetic. I wondered why before I remembered the fact that she hugged Lily, and before that the look I saw on her face that was given to Lily. Socially inept I may be, but I was smart enough to put some facts together, and before I could stop myself I blurted it out. "So....you and Lily?" Oh god here it comes, the smack across the face coupled by the blade to my neck and a whisper of 'Don't you ever repeat that to anyone else or I'll cut your throat where you stand got it?'

Rei blushed and looked at her feet. "No...she keeps denying every advance...I...don't know if I will ever get to tell her. I never find the chance."
She rested a hand on Akatsuki, observing Jason. "My aura is bright pink. Like my hair. But...the problem is...it also can be spotty. It means I'm afraid. Afraid of what people will think. What the answer will be."

She looked at Jason. "Keep it a secret, ok?"

I sorta chuckled, though it might have been confused for an exhale it was so quiet. "Like I'll ever be brave enough to tell anyone. Don't worry." We kept walking, leaving the area of the girls dorm and heading back to the boys area. It looked like I'd get through this unscathed......at least, that's what I thought. Then the bullies I dreaded rounded the corner, and it seemed doubtful they wouldn't see us. Whatever hope I felt earlier was now going through some post mortem twitching. "Oh, great. Now I definitely won't say anything; I'll be too busy being dead."

Rei put her hand on his shoulder.
"They have no chance." She eyed them. "Filthy. Their auras are flithy. Muddled brown, mustard yellow. Pale grey. Absolutely shameful. No aura should be so disgusting." She gripped Akatsuki. "It'll be ok."

I had returned to my observing post after going to the restroom. Still hidden bhind one of th buildings I saw Jason and one of the girls walking out. Their attention was elsewhere, soon I started scanning to see what got their attention. That group of pathetic angels were closing in. I stood still, I wanted to observe.

I touched her shoulder in return. "No. Go back to your room Rei.....they're only interested in me. Not....not going to let you get involved when it isn't your fight." Though I was terrified. There were four of them to my one, two if Rei stayed. And I didn't want that, not out of some sexist attitude that a girl couldn't fight (especially when it was clear I couldn't) but because it was my fight, and she and I weren't even friends. She had no reason to stay and help.

The leader saw us, and grinned. Gesturing to his buddies, they quickened their pace as they headed our way.
