"You shouldn't be scared for my sake, Rei," I said, looking up again, "You know me, I'd never let anything beat me."

"We'll need someone from Lamorak, they'd know the area better." I thought for a moment, "What about that boy you were with on the first day? His soul looked about right."

Rei put her hands on Lily's shoulders. "Maybe. And if you won't reconsider..." rei sighed. "I guess I gotta go with you..."

"Thank you..." I said quietly, "I heard that this demon was weak, as only one angel was assigned to hunt it. I think that if we go with help, we can kill it."

I stood up and looked back at Rei.
"We should find that boy."

"Lily. Dont underestimate it." She hugged Lily. "I don't wanna wake up and not find you down the hall. Or right beside me." She managed, teasing Lily.
"But...right. my ability. Almost forgot." She grinned sheepishly. "When..do you wanna go?"

"As soon as possible," I said, "It'd be best if we went today or tomorrow, that way we have enough time to get back before they notice we're gone."

I glanced at my map again, "We should hurry, your friend might need more convincing than you did."

I found a decent spot to in my book to stop reading, marking the page and closing the book, setting it aside on the nightstand. Getting off my bed, I grabbed my soul and held it in my hands, unsheathing the blade, laying it flat in both palms. There was a sort of quiet power in the blade, and I felt it the way I felt sunlight hit my face. There was definitely power in the blade, but what it was I had no idea.

Rei grabbed some pants and buckled up, slipping Akatsuki at her waist in the back.
"Let's go then..." she yawned. "He should be in the male dorms."

"Let's".

It only took a few minutes to reach the male dorm, and as we walked in, I turned to Rei.

"Can you find him?"

Rei poked Lily's forehead, then flipped her eyepatch up. "Duh."
She followed the hallways until she spotted his aura. She rapped on his door.
"Hey! Guy who's name I can't remember! Its me, the outgoing pink haired girl from our first day. Got a minute?"

When I heard the knocking on the door, I sorta panicked at dropped my soul. Again. Scrambling to my feet, I picked up the sword, sheathed it, and walked over to the door. I could hear the girl's voice, Rei, calling for me. Nervous, I unlocked the door and opened it a crack, and saw both her and Lily (yes I finally figured out her name) standing outside my door. "Wh....what do you two want?" I asked in a very quiet voice. Hell I should have asked them how they found me.

I had crossed my arms while waiting behind Rei, when the boy answered, I spoke.

"You're from Lamorak?"

Lamorak? My home? Why did they care? Opening the door an atom wider, I spoke a little louder. Now I went from the volume of an amoeba to the volume of an ant. "Ye...yes. Why?"

"Can you come with us please?" I unfolded my arms as I spoke and took a step towards the door, but remaining behind Rei. "I need a favour."

They wanted me to come with them? This couldn't be good. I should have said no......but something made me change topics instead. It was a question I was meaning to ask ever since she got out of the infirmary. "How.....how are you feeling Lily? I...I know you were hurt."

"I'm fine, thank you," I paused a moment, "I'm sorry, I don't know your name."

I felt....braver. I opened the door wider by an inch now, and spoke in a less shaky voice. "Jason. Jason Thorne." I looked from Lily to Rei. "What do you want? What favor?"

"I need you to come with us so I can explain properly," I said to Jason. The truth was, I didn't want to discuss it here, where someone might hear.

I had to leave my room? Great.....then again, with them with me, my odds of being attacked by the Hunters would go down. "Do I have to wear my school uniform?"

"No, we're only going to Rei's room." I looked at him, he seemed a bit uneasy. "Is something wrong?" I asked.

Was I uneasy? Hell yeah I was, mostly because I was being asked to enter a girl's room with a pair of girls. Don't look at me like that, I wasn't that dumb or optimistic. But I was still 16, and I still liked girls very much. So being asked to enter ones room was enough to make me nervous. But I deflected with the other reason I was uneasy. "Sorry, just.....been avoiding some people. Don't want to run into them."

"They shouldn't bother you when you're in a group of people," I said, "We should hurry." I turned and started walking back towards the entrance.

"One moment, let me get my stuff." Closing the door, I walked back into my room to quickly grab some things; my coat, my bag with some books, and my soul strapped over my shoulder. Then I was back at the door, ready to go. "Uh....lead the way I guess?"

We started walking back towards the girl's dorms in silence, I'd left the map in Rei's room, because I wasn't entirely sure I was allowed to do what I had been doing.

Rei let Lily speak, then followed behind Jason. "I know what you mean Jason.." she looked ashamed. "I want to avoid people, too."

I twisted my head a little to look at her as we walked, and saw the look on her face. "People....people are always cruel for no reason," I whispered to her.

She hugged herself. "Some girls stole my clothes and towels as I showered...some others were trying to take pictures of me.." she said back. "I can't see why people would do that for no reason Jason."

I held the note in my hand sure of what it contained but alas I must complete the task given to me. I walked down the dorm hall looking for the room number I was given. Upon arrival I knocked on the door a couple of times then stopped and waited for a reply.

"I guess he is not here." I began walked down the hall to the stairs,"Maybe he just left..if I'm lucky."

I heard some chatter down the stair so I followed in hope that is was the person I was looking for. I walked down the stairs. It wasn't long before I saw a couple walking out the male dorm. I wonder if they knew so I called out.

"Excuse me!?"

Seeing her so vulnerable as opposed to being the happy person I first met....sort of broke my heart a little. Despite myself, always being the shy one, I put a hand on her shoulder. I wasn't sure if it was friendly or not, and I didn't care that much. But I looked at her, smiling just a little. "Hey....don't let them bother you Rei. People....do cruel things because their assholes. And we're not assholes, are we Rei. We're better people."

Before she got a chance to respond to my pulledoutofmyass statement, I heard a voice and looked to see a familiar face. It was the guy from the lockers, the one who gave me advice. Like before, while I was comfortable with Rei and Lily around, the addition of a third person made me shrink a little, and I found myself looking at the floor. My hand didn't want to follow though, mostly because it felt heavy and immobile.

Rei put her hand on Jason's.
"Thank you."

She perked up at the new voice. "Yes?"

I saw his posture completely change the instant he saw me. So the the guy they wanted me to give this letter to was that guy from a week ago.

"So your name is Jason huh?"

I thought they would have changed targets by now, how sad.

"I have a letter for you from those kids you are so afraid of. It goes along the line of you can hide forever, we know where you reside and something like prepare your bowels."

 My eyes slid to the bottom corner of my eyes in embarassment.

"I kind of read it while looking for you."

Okay, bad enough someone read a letter meant for me......but the fact that the letter was a warning from the Hunters out for me nearly made me feint. As it was, my face went white and I felt very nauseous, my hand leaving Rei's shoulder and suddenly wrapping around my stomach as I was on the verge of doubling over.

I'd stopped at the sound of the newcomer, but at the letter I'd turned around.

"Cowards," I said, clenching a fist, "Jason, you should stand up to them, an even fight."

That really wasnt the reaction I was expecting.

"You are pretty soft arent you? Did you at least take my advice."

I crossed my arms.

I think Lily and the new guy said something, but I wasn't all that sure. All I knew was that I was very close to showing everyone what I ate earlier, and I felt very cold, like all my warm blood had left me as I went further down until I was on my knees, making very weak, pathetic sounds.

Rei knelt beside him, hugging him.
"Jason. You're not alone. We'll help you."

"You really need to take them head on, preemptive strike are best for 1 v 3."

I could feel a pair of warm arms wrap around me, fighting against the cold I felt. God I was pathetic, so pathetic right now. But the warmth....it was enough to get me to calm down, take deep breaths and eventually I felt my own warmth reignite from within me. And I was able to slowly stand to my feet. "Can....can we just keep moving? Please?"

I looked at the state he was in.

"Are you ok to move?"

I looked to the new guy, still unsure what his name was. But I nodded. "Yeah....yeah I can move." My hand reached up for the handle of my sword, and when my fingers wrapped around it I felt calmer now. More at ease, more secure.

I see his nerves ease as he grabs his soul.

"Yeah that happens."

I could tell they had prior plans and by the look of the lady who spoke earlier they were in a rush.

"Oh forgive me, my name is Cain."

It was rude of me not to give my name.

"Do you guys have prior plans?"

While calm, I didn't feel brave enough to speak again. So I just looked at my feet while Cain asked his questions.

I looked at Cain,
"Lily," I said, almost coldly, "Yes, we have plans."

I made a step closer to Lily and stopped.

"Well then, may I accompany you group?"

"No," I said sharply, "This is a private matter,"

It may have been slightly harsh, but this person was completely unknown to me. I had no idea who he was or what he was like, and something like this could potentially get someone killed if we had an unknown like that. Of course, I didn't need to say that, that would give this boy a chance to convince someone, probably Rei, to trust him.

I was suddenly curious about why Lily was being so......not rude, harsh? Cold? Maybe assertive? I couldn't place it, but it was clear she didn't want Cain coming with us. Was it because she didn't know him (which if that was the case didn't make sense on account of how little she knew me)? Or was it because he had been the bearer of a message that nearly sent me into a panic attack? I honestly couldn't say, but if it was the latter I didn't feel like ignoring the "don't shoot the messenger" line. "Lily," I said; "You don't really know me, and your brought me in.....to whatever this is." It was honestly the most complete sentence I had ever said to a stranger. This was a day of surprises it seems. "Why the sudden hesitation?"

I looked at Jason, it was pretty natural he'd wonder about that.
"Because," I started, trying to think of a reason that would work wothout revealing wht we were doing, "I think I can trust you," Maybe it was because I'd already spoken to him? Or because of what I'd heard in the letter, but I had a gut feeling that he wouldn't tell anyone.

She thinks she can trust me? "We've only met maybe two times Lily. And this is the first time we've ever really talked. How is that reason for you to trust me?" I couldn't believe I was feeling bold enough to really speak up like I was now. Maybe whatever shyness I had for the day was used up in my reaction to the letter. Or maybe I felt confident enough talking to Lily, someone who, along with Rei, actually sought me out. Yeah there was Cain but he was delivering a message from some bullies. He kinda had to look for me. Rei and Lily didn't, so maybe that's why I felt eager to talk to them. I didn't want to lose my chance to talk with people who seemed interested in me.

Her sudden anger, I felt was unnecessary. Didn't matter, it didn't bother, although it made curious.

"And why is that? "

Rei frowned. "Because reasons." She looked at Jason. "Let's go. We got some pretty important things to talk about. You know. Stuff. Gnashing teeth. Claws." She gave him a knowing look. "So come on!"

"Well I can see when I'm the fourth wheel."

I put my hands in my pockets and turned around.

"Good luck with those bullies and whatever you're up to."

I began to walk to the cafeteria since I hadn't eaten yet. I raised one of my hands to say bye to the group.

"Ja mata ne."
