HRP reboot - Chapter 2: On the Run

I kick a grunt in the back and riddle a Jackal with holes from my shotgun. I look around the battlefield, yelling obscenities at the advancing covenant troops. I look at the defending soldiers and I yell, "C'mon, let's kick their asses!" I stare impassively at the encroaching covenant troops and I decide to try to turn the fight around. I run behind some rubble and I wait out the rapid fire of a elite before I poke my shotgun out and eliminate the elites shields. The stupid thing roars with indignity as I run up to it, brandishing my machete.

Dan moved to the bridge a bit after Marik did.

"Haven't lost it have you, Marik?"

"Ensure all soldiers and crew are prepared to depart. If this ship goes down, I will not be going down with it. Once they are ready, ensure you contact me."
Rha' cut off the comm with Set, looking back at the screens.

not a chance and looks like the seraph is starting it's drive up gonna try and ride it's slipspace wake

= the seraph starts up the slipspace drive and enters slipspace while the Shadows Advent follow in behind and enters the portal just before it closes=

"Good. Don't need any Covies singing about us."

Dan took a seat at the weapons console.

"If this bastard led us into a trap be ready to re-enter slipspace"

Dan was ready to fire everything they had if they had to.

gonna bring us out of slipspace bit aways from where seraph exited to maintain stealth

Dan nodded to Marik, agreeing with his plan. His hands were still over the weapon's controls at the ready.

As the hangar deck was vented, Dragon squad was nearly picked up and flung into space by the suction. Their saving grace however, was one of the large pillars of the hangar that was behind them. Granted they slammed into it as if the freaking Hulk slammed them with a feather pillow, but for the most part everything felt intact. "Holy......fuck," Chris said as she sagged to the floor. Their suit seals held, so they didn't start gasping for air just yet......they had fifteen minutes before that happened.

Rha' watched as both Covenant and human personnel were thrown out of the hangar as if pulled by a force greater than anything ever before felt by them. The Sangheili snarled, watching as Unggoy and Kig-Yar tried to take cover from the intense pulling force, while the few standing Sangheili tried to fight it, their boots keeping them in place for the moment.

"Major Sesa 'Vadamee, hold! Ensure your forces remain established in the hangar at all costs!"

The Major gripped onto his cover tight, as a few of the other Sangheili began to do the same, hunkering down in defensive or tactical locations, to wait out the suction.
As Rha' gave the screen another look, he watched the human vehicles moving, lifting, shifting in the confusion and suction, colliding and crashing as humans and Unggoy flew out of the hangar.

The Ultra shook his head, looking to the battle outside, and making his decision.

"Set, meet me at the brig."

The tanks concentrated fire.
"Door opened Exfil Team. Point Three, waypoint set. All units provide coverfire and go." Reauiem ordered.

=5 minutes later=

bringing it out of slipspace now

=activates controls and brings it out of slipspace=

um dan there a problem, from what i can telll it must have just edged out of our sensor range and exited slipspace so i have no idea where the hell  it went

"Set meet me at the brig"

Rha's voice crackled on the communication channel. Set himself was standing in another Hanger. Set counted himself lucky that the Humans had not gone through his hanger. Set heard the Ship issue a notice that the atmosphere had been vented in the neighboring hanger. Set felt the force of vehicles landing on the ship. Vehicles? He thought to himself, Do these humans have a death-wish? Surely they don't realize that they've sealed their fate by prolonging any evacuation time they needed...

Set began his journey to the Brig.

"Fires can't burn in the oxygen-free vacuum of space, but guns can shoot. Modern ammunition contains its own oxidizer, a chemical that will trigger the explosion of gunpowder, and thus the firing of a bullet, wherever you are in the universe. No atmospheric oxygen required."

Dragon got up as quickly as they could, and ran for the opening. "We are going in!" Daniel said. "Now do us a favor and pray for success."

Sesa snarled, yelling insults and vulgarities at the nearby Unggoy, as one of them crawled away. The vacuum was beginning to diminish, and before long the entire hangar was left without one, plasma batteries and bodies floating through the hangar in unison as the Major barked his orders, trying to imitate what a true hero would do.

As plasma and bullets crossed paths, explosions filling the room, eventually the Covenant forces had managed to follow his command, and the Unggoy began to line up with the Sangheili, all armed well and proper.
The humans concentrated fire, and took out some, but Sesa knew what to do - hoisting up his weapon, along with the rest of his lance, and those around it, he fired, and in a hail of green and orange bombarded the humans, the mixture of plasma and fuel rods catastrophic in their own horrible way; the Major had ensured that his lance, at least, aimed entirely at the dropships, and it had done more damage than he could ever have hoped.

Of course, considering the entire lance had been out of cover for far longer than they should ever have been, Sesa barely had time to revel in his work before they were shot upon. He ducked back down, but the same couldn't be said for most of the Unggoy.
"Ultra Taydumee! You must use the alternate hangar! Enemy fire is too heavy here!"

Rha' didn't listen to a word of it as he continued down his path, marching now furiously, before finally breaking into a run before entering the brig, looking around and seeing the Sangheili guards turn on their heels, eyeing him over before growling and returning to their silent patrol.

David sat up, too preoccupied to even care about the conflict outside the ship. He held the data chip in his hand, sighed, and tucked it into one of the desk drawers.
She wouldn't like that very much, he could already tell.

Dan raised a quizical eyebrow under his helmet, to Marik.

"Where are we, though?"

"Are there any nearby UNSC stations in this part of space?"

Dan sat up from his chair and moved closer to the bridge's front window.

"Sure. We could report back to command, tell 'em what's happened. Assuming they don't get too mad."

ok going to start up the ship and head that way

=powers everything up to normal output and begins piloting the ship so cesaro=

ok we should be good so long as we stay cloaked

Dan nodded to Marik.

"Do we know if there's a strong Covenant force in this area?"

we should know soon as we get in range

you just had to jinx u because guess what is near the planet

Dan sighed and lowered his head while rubbing the back of his neck.

"How many?"

"Should we hail one of the UNSC ships? tell 'em we're in the area?"

Dan thought for a moment.

"Although a Covie ship might intercept our transmission."

"Alright, let's get closer to the UNSC ships then."

Dan moved back over to the weapons console and sat down, holding onto the controls.

"Yeah."

Dan held on while the ship moved through the battlefield.

As the Marines and ODSTs, with what was left of the dropships giving them aerial cover, held in the hangar, and the Falcons blown back out and into the December's waiting embrace (with only a few casualties from pancake landings), Fireteam Blaze and Dragon went in.
"Alright. Head down the corridor and take a left. I think. If you can find schematics, that should work. Setting Waypoint; just head towards it as best as you possibly can."
"That's comforting." Nina muttered.

Outside the battle raged. The Kagatsuchi was give a right and holy beatdown to a frigate that managed to get close as the rest of his fleet fought a so far losing battle. They inflicted casualties, but thankfully...
"Admiral Monroe, this is UNSC Paris Lights. We've entered the system, ETA to the battlefield is two minutes. Reinforcements are on the way."
As battlegroup Kagatsuchi held the line, the December's top mounted Mini MAC twisted. Taking aim, it fired, ripping through the bridge of a Covenant Corvette. The ship kept moving their way, but the two frigates that had accompanied the cruiser fired, and it's trajectory changed as it broke apart.
"Infiltration Team, move faster. It's getting hot and more Covenant are taking notice of us. Time left is around fifteen minutes before SHIVA tactical nuke is deployed by UNSC Kagatsuchi against Covenant Frigate."

Rha' looked down at the prison cells, frowning as he looked at the Sangheili guards patrolling, their rifles held tightly in their grasp. He turned a small blue sphere on the holographic control pad and as the scheme before him changed, he pressed one of numerous blue buttons and deactivated the shield door that held in confinement his prisoner.

He thudded over to the cell, looking down at her and grabbing her by the shoulder, pulling her up and attaching energy shackles around her wrists. He snarled as he lifted her to her feet and looked at her.
"You will stay silent, and you will survive."
He didn't wait for her to even acknowledge him as he began to walk, two of the Sangheili guards joining him, walking behind her in a pair as Rha' activated his comm again.

"Set, you must move. Either remain at the Eternal Perdition or assist in this prisoners transfer."
the Sangheili Ultra quickly changed channels, hoping he wasn't too late.
"Major Rela 'Talamee, are Waputo Tamo Sonu and Gapura Tamo Haru with you?"
The Major was clearly moving, as Rha' could hear the heavy patting of his boots on the alloy of the ships halls. "Yes, Taydumee. Both are part of my cohort. Do you request their assistance?"
"Send both to the subsidiary hangar. They must protect the Eternal Perdition."

The group moved down the hallways fast, the Sangheili guards constantly nudging their prisoner on, as she was far slower, or at least less fast paced at the moment, than they were.
"Move, human. Do not expect us to sit and let you rest."

Out of darkness Set walked, a distance away from the Sangheili, "I am already here, Rha'." Set stood down the hall that Rha' was in.

Rha' looked down to the Skirmisher, keeping in his pace as he did so, looking down the hall and gently grasping at the hilt of his own weapon, pulling it off of its magnetic hold as he let out a low rumbling growl.

"Is my crew prepared for an evacuation?"

"They are, as always." Set responded briskly.

Of all the shit ideas this had to be the worst, Daniel thought to himself. Infiltrating a Covenant ship was bad enough, but trying to find the prisoner cells (if the Covenant even had any given their penchant for never taking prisoners) was freaking insane given they had no idea where they were. The UNSC never managed to secure any Covenant ship, at least as far as he knew so that meant no blueprints to utilize in tracking it down. "Requiem, if you can hear me, any advice on where to start looking for the ship's cell-block? Otherwise we're just wasting time here."

"In the vicinity of the waypoint. It probably is somewhere in the deeper parts of the ship, away from the bridge but somewhere on that level or below it." He replied. "I'm going by common sense of where to put a brig."
He sighed. "Just hurry. Waypoint is set, just keep heading that direction."

Rha' huffed, nodding silently as he continued to monitor the Battle Network, huffing as he overheard everything onboard the ship. The hangar was still in a stalemate, though given the Covenant having higher ground and extremely heavy weapons, it seemed it was going their way. Sangheili, Kig-Yar and Jiralhanae were enforcing every hallway as they moved, and all across the ship preparations were being made.

"Set, this ship has numerous Skirmisher lances deployed all across it. I need you to unite them into a cohesive force and aid in the defence of the preliminary hangar."

Rha' looked back at the human, huffing again.
"I hope you understand how fortunate you are, human."

"Understood, thanks for the tip," Daniel said. Following the waypoint, Dragon squad turned a corner and found themselves facing several Grunts and Jackals. Both were armed, the Jackals at the rear and shields held up while the Grunts were in front, barking and chattering nervously. Clearly they didn't like being in the front, and clearly they didn't have much choice. First to fire was Chris, pumping a shotgun shell into one of the grunts, the pellets ripping through skin and bouncing off armor. Daniel followed up with a burst from his assault rifle, the shredder rounds doing far more damage despite pinging off the shields of the Jackals. In turn, they and the remaining Grunts fired plasma bolts, the shots singeing the air as they streaked towards the ODSTs, who ducked out of the way.

Siri felt it all. The shaking, the explosions.
She smirked. Actually smirked. "You should understand how unfortunate you are." She said weakly.

Rika and her Spartans opened fire as well, and Mike primed a grenade.
"ODSTs, preping frag. Get ready to fire."

"Get ready to fire? What the hell do you think we've been doing?" Chris shouted as she pumped another shotgun round into a grunt, blowing its head off.

"It will be done."

In the tongue of the T'vaoan, Set spoke into his communications device. Summoning his fellow T'vaoan.

"I shall return."

Set left his Ultra behind, as he ran through the ship, he saw the ODST's, the Spartans, fighting at a slow pace.

In a matter of moments, he'd gathered his fellow T'Vaoan's and set off for the preliminary hanger.

"Now!" Rika and her team's grenades blasted the shields away. Their rifles clacked empty a few moments later, and as they ducked away, they waited for the ODSTs to finish the job.

"Give them hell!" Daniel barked, and he and the rest of Dragon opened fire on the remaining aliens, killing them quickly. "Come on, we don't have long here, least I don't think we do," Daniel said.
