HRP reboot - Chapter 2: On the Run

The Captain waved them forward.
"Load up and relax. We almost have Cesaro reclaimed, but the toll is high."

"Alright," Daniel said. He turned back to look at everyone, and said "Let's get moving people; the Covies won't wait forever." With that, everyone began to load up on the pelicans, with Chris wheeling Lin's gurney over to the ships.

The captain looked at Lin.
"What happened with her?"

"She took a few too many hits," Daniel said. "She's sedated, but she'll make it."

He nodded. "Alright."

"So, we gonna try infiltrating the flagship?"

Dan thought for a second as he turned to the bridge's exit.

"We do still have that Seraph."

Dan then turned to Marik, waiting for a reply.

It was a little while after they were picked up, that Dragon squad and the other civilians were dropped off at the ground base set up by the UNSC. Lin had been secured in the same pelican, with the rest of the squad also in the pelican as it was being sent back up to the fleet in orbit. This fight was over, and their part done for now. Neither Daniel or Chris though were eager for Lin to wake up though, knowing she'd flip her shit when she found out that they didn't save Siri. All Daniel could think though, was 'tough luck.' He'd cross that bridge when he came to it, but for now, it was hot food, warm showers.........and on to the next fight.

Lindsey had fallen silent on the trip back. She seemed to be tired resting her head against the back of the seat on the Pelican her eyes closed. She was awake yet wished she wasn't, her left leg throbbed painfully and phantom pains shot into her shoulder from her cybernetic limb or what remained off it. A few more scars to add to the collection then.
