Okay, well, there have been two ideas proposed.

Apoths Idea:
A number of Vaults have decided to let out some patrols to see what state the wasteland is in. I imagine this would be similar to the story of Fallout 1, where you're sent out to get a water chip, and end up... Well, end up doing Fallout 1. We could be scientists, security guards, etc. It'd be a more survival based RP, especially considering how poorly the residents of Fallout 3 fared once they were let out. So, yeah, there's that one.
(Feel free to comment and correct this if it's wrong, Apoth)

Fallens Idea:
Similar to the other FORP. Legion invading from the West, the remnants of the NCR (possibly) getting involved, and the Brotherhood preparing to defend the Waste. The major differences would be that the Midwestern Brotherhood would get involved eventually, and the Capital Brotherhood chapter would have formed a republic of sorts, encompassing DC, the Megaton area, and the Rivet City area, creating a large safe zone for people to wander around in. The mutants of the Wasteland would have mostly been driven away from the river, meaning there would be roaming bands of all sorts of things now. Ghouls, Super Mutants, Mirelurks, etc, all roaming around the Wasteland. A real no mans land. Places like Andale, the Republic of Dave, etc, would have established their territories, meaning that other than trade routes, places have gotten a lot more dangerous than they used to be, outside of safe zones.

How about this, you're dead. Like literally going to die n' shit.

You all climbed inside a merry'ol Vault thinking you'd survive the apocalypse, but guess what? You're shit out of luck. A huge part of the Vault collapsed, looks like a fucking'A bomb landed right on your doorstep.

Water's fucked, food's fucked, power's pretty much fucked too...

What happens when a bunch of middle class, white collar American Office workers and homemakers get trapped like rats? What happens when everything that was supposed to work breaks? Is it some elaborate Vault Tec experiment or just bad luck?

Will you survive with your humanity intact? Who do you look after? Your family? Or you community at large?

Fuck if I know


Even if you win in the short term it's not like there's anything left... Why not just take the easy way out...

Idea 1 (Apoth's): I don't like it. Fallout is about freedom; it's a free-roam RPG :l, freedom is a given, and the idea of having to do a role isn't too appealing.

Idea 2: (Fallen) I don't know. It's alright, it's just not got that feeling of an interesting plot.

The idea was that was your set start but after that you can wander off, join factions and do what you like. You don't have to complete the mission, you can go work, explore, create your own band of slavers etc. The freedom is there but the start your being sent out of a vault, after that you can go do whatever you'd like.

Well, if you don't mind my asking, what would make it more interesting to you? What do you want to see in the plot, specifically?
(If you wanna know more about the setting rather than the plot, I can list more of what would be present which may interest you)
