The Zephyrian War: Uprising

-This side story will be focusing on the events after the first invasion of Freemont. The planet has been named Zephyre. This war, The Zaphyrian War. A new character will be the focus of this side story. I will place information on him here soon-

=Vanguard. The military capital of all Zephyre. The rebels had come close to taking it over. Their attempt, a failure. No doubt they would try once more. However they will be met with the same heart and strength as before=

=Military bases dot the entirety of Vanguard. Soldiers going about their business. Training. Learning. These however are not the true soldiers=

=The true SOLDIERs are the stealth force of the military=
=They had been dispatched all throughout known rebel areas. Posing as rebels themselves=

=Mercy. The fallback point of the Zephyrian military. Now taken by the rebel forces=

=He had been dispatched to this point. His real name, Leonardo Viacci. His name known to the rebel forces. Niccolo Reed=

=He is standing outside one of the barracks. It had begun to rain. The water drips onto his armor and slides off=
=His A.I. break the silence. One, a voice that can only be described as soft. The other, strong=

=His voice is thick with an Italian accent=

*Then get the information Miss Creed told you to get*

Going now, Melody.

=He waits for a group to pass before entering the barracks=

=He makes his way through the area=
=The rebels had fallen for his ruse=

=He moves quickly. Going into the command center=
=He goes up to a computer and sticks the chip in=
=He moves through the options. The screen goes blank=

=The screen comes back on and he is greeted with a window=

=He looks around for a place to hide it. He opts to place it in a concealed corner=

=He takes cover behind a broken down car=

=He turns his head towards the front of the hornet=
=The defense wall can be seen=
=Turret walls dot it=

=Soon they enter above the city and drift towards the governmental building. Landing, he hops out and is escorted into the building=

=The escorts and he stop off at a desk=
=One shows his ID card and the receptionist gives them the okay=
=He continues following them=

=They enter through a pair of double doors=
=A circular room, computers everywhere. People stationed at each=
=Miss Sarah Creed sits at a chair=

=He walks up to her and salutes=

Sarah-At ease, Leo.

=He lowers his arm and presents the chip=

I apologize my lady. I was unable to gain the full amount of information.

Sarah-It's fine, Leo. Thank you.

=She turns towards Warren. Handing him the chip=

Sarah-Warren give this to General Mendez

=Warren takes the chip with a nod and leaves=
=She turns back towards him=

Sarah-Sit-rep on Mercy.

It has been completely invaded. I am sorry my lady. I have heard talk of them organizing forces to strike Stoika.

Sarah-Hmm...We must mobilize some units there now. However, we dont want to alert them.

=He nods and takes his leave=

*I wonder what our next mission will be*

Sarah-Mobilize units to Stoika. We cant have it fall.

=He leaves once more as she retrieves her MP3=
=She puts the earbuds in and is placed with a world of music=

=She begins to tap her foot=

=He had made it to the SOLDIERs sector of the building=
=Passing through checkpoint after checkpoint=
=It had used to get on his nerves, not now=
=He had entered into the communal area, a break room. Seperate rooms branch out for seperate SOLDIERs=
=On one wall, their motto=

=He nods to a few people that call his name=
=He does not go to them however=
=He heads to his room=

=Stepping into a machine that helps him remove his armor=
=He takes Harmony and Melody's chips out and places them into a seperate computer=
=Their forms appear. Data running down their bodies=

=Harmony. A figure of strength. She is known to him as a person who would never appreciate anything. However it is through this that she shows that she believes in him. She is dressed in a white gown with flowing white hair.=

=Melody. A figure of thinking. She is known to him as a person in which he could get things off his chest. She is dressed in a purple gown with short purple hair=

=He takes his Katana out of it's sheath and takes some cleaner=
=He sits on his bed. Cleaning the blade=

=He finishes the cleaning and sheathes the blade=
=Harmony and Melody had gone into sleep mode=
=He was about to do the same=
=He could hear arguing and the inevitable first punch=

=He sighs and stands up. Heading out to site of the altercation=

=A group had gathered=
=On the ground, two privates were fighting=
=He pushes through the crowd and arrives to face the two=
=One looks up and stops. The other stands and wipes some blood off of his mouth=

=He makes a motion to their rooms and they head off immediately=

=He looks to the crowd and motions for them to do the same=
=Once they scatter he returns to his own room and lies on the bed=
=He drifts to sleep=

=The days following had been slow goings. Forces had been sent to Stoika. No word of an attack has been sent to Freemont. Leo had been asked to oversee the final exchange of soldiers=

=He is currently sitting in the side seat of transport warthog=
=It had been awhile since he had stepped foot in Stoika. Years? He didnt know. In his time he had been in so many places he couldnt be asked to recall them all=

=Stoika was around a four hour drive from Freemont, no settlements from there to Stoika=
=They had been out for two=
=The road they are on is hill ridden=
=Grasslands on both sides of the road=

=The driver turns on the headlights as night begins to overtake the land and four transports filled with soldiers=
=He is in the third transport=

=He hears an explosion. His comms begin to erupt=

"Lead Transport has been destroyed. We are under attack=

=He looks around, turning on the night vision as the three vehicles swerve to avoid debris=

=The second transport goes sky high. They do the same as they did with the first=

"Secondary transport is gone"

Stop here! Do not move further =he tells the two remaining vehicles=

=They come to a halt. A short ways from the destroyed transports. Bodies lay in the fires=
=The remaining troops regroup. He gives the sign to spread out and search=

=He passes the second transport. A body had been locked in. A piece of large shrapnel lodged into his chest=
=He continues to look around. He comes across a line in the road. the second transport had hit it=
=He follows it to the edge of the road. Searching the area he finds an I.E.D=

=He comms the others=

Improvised Explosive Devices have been set up along the road.

"What are your suggestions, sir?"

We must continue on.

"But, sir"

We must get to Stoika. Gear up, relieve the bodies of any weapons you find.

"Sir...yes sir."

=The remaining group had taken everything from the corpses and road off to Stoika=
=He scans the roads for any more tripwires=

Melody, remind me to tell Miss Creed of the incident.

=He looks up to the night sky. Stars surrounding them=
=A few hours later they arrive in Stoika and are directed to the barracks and vehicle depots=

=The vehicle stops in front of a building. He takes his pistols and hops out=
=Stoika had been attacked many times. Exchanging soldiers with each attack=

=He enters the building, saluting the head of operations stationed there=

General Horin

Horin-Leonardo. How went the transfer?

Enemy I.E.D.s were detonated. Two transports fell.

Horin-I.E.D.s? Hmm...Those could prove to be a nuisance. I will contact the others. E.O.D. teams will be spread out to deal with them.

What are my current orders.

=He stares at Horin through the visor. His eyes, unmoving=

Horin-Training the troops is always good. Training yourself is also good.

=He salutes and walks off=

Horin-Leo, loosen up. Miss Creed will be speaking later tomorrow. Be certain to not miss that.

=The words come to him as he walks. They pass on through. It was not his order to "loosen up". It was his mission to guard the transports. He failed. In the morning he will suit back up and head back to Freemont for Miss Creed's speech. A unit such as himself is constantly moving. Unable to have one full day of rest. He would not take one anyway. He had been a soldier for as long as he could remember. There was no time for breaks=

=He enters the barracks and is direted to where he will be staying for the time being=

Well. It gets kind of irritating talking to Harmony non-stop

She started it. =she sighs= Regardless. What do you think your punishment will be?

=He had returned to Freemont=
=He and many other SOLDIERs are hiding in the darkness, watching as the speech is about to be given=

=The set up was just outside of the government building=
=Sarah approaches the podium. Cameras turn on and her face appears on the screens throughout Freemont and other areas across Zephyre=

Sarah-Thank you. People of Zephyre. The loyal soldiers. The people who believe in us. I say thank you. If it wasnt for you, we would not be here today. Whatever this threat is. We will find the source. We will put an end to it.

=He is positioned on the top of a building overlooking the area=
=He scans it=

Movement spotted.

Tall building to your left.

=He looks into the direction. Seeing the barrel of an S2=
=He activates the camo. Carefully making his way to the edge of his building=

=He looks down, seeing a window he could jump through=

Hmm

=He looks right, an escape stairway=
=He jumps towards the stairway. Outstretching his arm and just barely catching it=

=He pulls up=

Which floor.

Top floor.

Scanning, top floor. Third room down

=He opens up a window and enters in=
=It is an abandoned building. Wallpaper torn off. Cots made on the floors=

=He moves through the room and out the door=
=He comes into a hallway, a marker appears on the HUD and he follows it=


=The sniper sets up=
=Readying the rifle and lining up the shot=

=He takes a few breaths=

"In and out. In and out"

=The crosshairs move over her head=

=He had entered in on the third floor=
=The sniper, positioned on the fourth=

=He climbs the stairs, taking out one pistol=


=The sniper takes a deeper breath and releases=
=The finger hovers over the trigger=

"Your time. Creed. Has ended"


=He moves through the hallway=
=The marker getting smaller as he approaches the door=


=The door is kicked open. The sniper, startled, pulls the trigger=

=She heard the bullet fly past her head=
=Her eyes widen as she holds her breath=

=The bullet makes contact with the wall behind her=

=The guards begin to yell out=

"Everyone down! Cameras off!"

=Warren leads her into the building=


=Leo approaches the man, pistol raised=
=He disengages the cloak=

=He punches the man, knocking him out=

=The building is loud with activity. It seems that the attack on Miss Creed was not the only one found. Several other attacks on government officials had been attempted. All failed=

=Many of the suspects consumed cyanide tablets before capture. The one that remains is the one captured by Leo=

=The man sits in a chair. Nervously looking around. It is clear that he is a young one in this war. A poor sniper. Did not use the cyanide tablet=

=Chief Officer Murdan enters the room. A rather large man. Not muscular. He walks with a limp, his leg had been taken off by a mine. He was a member of the E.O.D. teams many years ago. Forced to retire and enter in this line of work=

=The man looks away=

Murdan-Look at me when I'm about to speak to you, boy.

=The man looks back at him=

Murdan-Good. Now. You're gonna tell me everything.

???-Why would I do that?

=Murdan takes a seat, laying a gun on the table=

???-Yeah, that scares me.

=Murdan smiles. The scar on his face twists=

Murdan-I think it does. I think the idea of death scares you.

???-Why do you say that.

Murdan-If you were not. You would have ended your life before capture.

???-The Spartan got to me before I could.

Murdan-It's a quick motion. So simple.

=Murdan grabs the gun and stretches so the barrel touches the man's forehead=

Murdan-Talk.

=The man's eyes widen, he tries to conceal it. Failing terribly=

=The man's eyes twitch around the room. Thinking of a way to escape=

=Murdan's finger hovers thr trigger as he counts down=

Murdan-3...2...1...

???-What do you want to know...

Murdan-Operations. Bases. Everything. Do not try to leave. There are soldiers placed everywhere.

???-Im just a grunt. I overheard talk of an attack on Hope and Sacred Meadows.

Murdan-At the same time?

???-Yeah.

Murdan-To spread our forces thin. Hmm...

=He turns to a mirror and nods=

Murdan-You get to stay here. Congrats.

=He stands and leaves=

=Murdan walks into the Hall of Leaders=
=Small statues of the Zephyrian leaders throughout the years=
=Miss Creed's statue has just been finished=

=He staggers over to where the statue and she are=
=Warren at her side=

Murdan-My lady. The P.O.W. has told of strikes planned on Hope and Sacred Meadows.

=He hands her the files, in which she gives to Warren to look over=
=Her earbuds blasting some music out so loud that he could hear it=

Sarah-Thank you George. I will read these later and plan accordingly.

=He bows and leaves=

Warren-Sacred Meadows. Thats where...

Sarah-Yeah, I know.

Warren-We've made it so far without the UNSC.

Sarah-We wont need them for this. We've survived worse. The Program will not be affected.

Warren-SOLDIERs will be deployed there immediately.

Sarah-The enemy will have most likely set up bases around Sacred Meadows. We will have our tech teams scan the areas for them. Then deploy the SOLDIERs to them.

Warren-What of Hope?

Sarah-I want you there.

=His face fills with shock=
=He shakes his head=

Warren-My lady...

Sarah-Dont go against me. Gather a force then go to Hope. If you find Leo. Tell him to come see me.

=His eyes find the floor as he nods=

Warren-Yes, my lady.

=He turns and leaves the Hall=

=The hot sun beats down on his body=
=He never felt comfortable out of his armour, but he had to get out of it=
=The consistent arguing between Melody and Harmony had reached it's point=

=He is jogging. Sweat pours from his brow=
=A large group of trainees behind him=

=After awhile he is joined by Warren=

Sir. What is the news from the P.O.W.

Warren-Dont call me sir. The P.O.W. has told us of an attack on Sacred Meadows and Hope. I am being deployed to Hope. You and other SOLDIERs are being deployed to Sacred Meadows.

Protect the Program, Yes?

Warren-Yeah. The boys in tech in both areas are scanning for enemy bases near them. Once we get to the places. We will be debriefed.

Warren-Good luck, man.

Warren-Before I forget. Lady Creed would like to see you. She is waiting for you in the Hall of Leaders.

=Warren nods and falls back to the recruits=
=Leo takes a turn left and heads to the SOLDIERs barracks=

=Sarah brings up her mobile computer=
=She accesses a document entitled. "The Program"=
=She moves away from the statues and heads back to her seat in the Royal Hall=

=Hours later. Transports begin leaving Freemont. Going off to their respective destinations=
=The chopper's blades cut the air. Kicking up dirt as it lifts off=
=Leo is located on this chopper=

=The group of ten SOLDIERs depart=
=They will join up with the ten Juggernaut II's and be debriefed=

=The standard black armour given out to each SOLDIER glistens as the sun sets=
=A perfect time to leave=

=He opens comms with his brothers and sisters=

Under the mask of night. We enter. We kill. We burn.

=He hears confirmation and ends the comm=

=It would be sometime before they could get to Sacred Meadows=
=He takes a seat and slowly drifts to sleep=

=Sacred Meadows. Two towns surrounded by a fortress. Difficult to gain access from ground units. Even aerial units find difficulties with it. A technological dream town. Conjoined with the Juggernaut II training facility. Three layers of thick walls make it difficult to breach. Some controversy had been set up to move the governmental building in Freemont to Sacred Meadows. It failed of course. It would be a miracle if the rebels found a way in.=

=The time passes on by. Soon the large fortress could be seen=
=An official comms each chopper=

"Attention. Identify yourselves or prepare to be shot down"

=The pilots send out information and they are led into the courtyard of the J II training facility=
=They exit the transports and are led out to the main building=

=They meet with Jackson. The head of the J II Program=
=He is guarded with the ten J II soldiers=

=The SOLDIERs salute Jackson=

Jackson-At ease.

Sir, our orders.

Jackson-To the point. I like that. Five of you and five J II's will head to the confirmed base that the boys in tech found.

Why only five of each?

Jackson-I figure that the J II's mixed with you SOLDIERs should be able to take care of the base. We would also need ten fully trained soldiers to help if they manage to attack.

=He nods=

Sir.

Jackson-Now, we were gonna send you knockin right on their door but.

Have the J II's go in and knock. We'll go in during the commotion and kill them from the inside

=Jackson looks Leo over and tilts his head=

Jackson-Hmm....it could work... Do it. Get geared up and take down the rebel bastards.

=The group salutes and heads out=

=They all head off to the vehicle depot=
=Five J II's hop on three mongoose-esque vehicles=
=Five SOLDIERs also hop on these vehicles=

=Leo turns his head to the remaining ten=

Sacred Meadows can not fall. Do not fail us. Do not fail Miss Creed.

=The ten salute as the engines roar to life=
=The doors open and they speed out=

=Comms=

We will stop just before hitting the base. J II's continue out.

=He recieves confirmation as they go through a wooded area=
=Waypoints appear on each of the HUDs=

=The SOLDIERs approach the stop point=
=The J II's continue out towards the base=

=It does not take long for the enemy to realize they are under attack=
=Gunfire begins to erupt=

=He gives the signal and the SOLDIERs leave off towards the rear of the base=
=Explosions are heard=

=They turn a corner and leap off of the mongeese=

Go!

=They activate the cloaking on their armour. Soon they find themselves sandwiching the enemy=

=He unsheaths the Katana and runs in. Stabbing who he can=
=The others retrieve their pistols and begin opening fire=

=The J II's begin to press forward. Lobbing grenades=

=He hears one hostile yell retreat. The sound is quickly muffled by a shot=

=He takes the Katana and stabs a person in front of him. The hostiles focus fire onto him. He swings the body to absorb the bullets=

=He disposes of the body and continues the melee destruction=

=The hostiles numbers begin to dwindle to nothing=

Spread out. If you find any others. Kill them.

"SIR!"

=The ten fan out, searching the base=

=He can hear over the comms each person clearing a room=

=Soon the base is cleared out=

=Corpses of the fallen lay resting on the floor=

=The walls painted red=

Mission Accomplished.

Let's get back, ASAP.

=The ten spread off and retrieve their mongeese. Heading back to Sacred Meadows=

We have just recieved a message

What of?

It seems the counter on Hope has failed. Many casualties were had.

Survivors?

A group of five.

How many were sent?

Fifty. Hope was taken.

=They cross into Sacred Meadows=
=Gunfire and screaming is heard=

It seems we have company

=The hostiles see them and begin to open fire=

How did they gain access.

=He pulls the pistols out, firing as they roll through the streets=

"Watch for civilians!" He states over comms.

=He leaps from the mongoose. Taking cover behind an overturned car=
=He is joined by the other SOLDIERs. The J II's form their own group and charge forward=

=He motions for his group to follow. The silent sign is also given=

=They move down an alleyway=

=Civies everywhere scream in terror. Some actually take arms against the intruders=

=They move on through the alley. They activate their cloaking and pop out on the other side=

=Closed Comms=

We've got to make it back to Headquarters. Move!

=They continue onto the street. The sunlight showing their silhouettes=
=A large force makes it's way into their firing view=

Go loud. In 3...2...1...

=He gives the open fire signal and they deactivate the cloaking. Firing their various weapons upon the hostile force=

=The hostiles are caught off guard. Many fall before they could even fire a shot off or get word off that they were eing fired on. The bullets rip the air, sending blood flying high into the air. The screams of the fallen virtually drowned out by the roar of the gunfire=

=An enemy tank rolls into view. The team is forced to retreat back into the alley=

Where the hell did they get a tank!?

=He takes a couple of grenades=

Squad. Provide a diversion.

=The team salutes and runs out to the open road. The tank, a monster in their path=
=He goes into cloak, sneaking out and around the gunfire=

=The tank moves up. Firing shots and bringing down buildings=
=The pavement where the tank's shell hits sends debris everywhere.=

=He manages his way to the monster and places the two grenades into two open spots near the treads=

=He deactivates the cloak and unsheathes the Katana=

=He runs out behind the hostile force who had moved up=

=He begins slicing them. The grenades go off sending pieces of the tank flying and disableing the treads=

=The fighting ends as he takes the blade and cuts the head off of an enemy=
=The headless corpse drops. His armour covered in blood=

=He gives the signal to form up and head out=

=The SOLDIERs were taught to kill in any way they deem fit. He felt that was a fitting way for that enemy to die=

=The city is large, however they can make good use of their maps=

=Night had befallen Sacred Meadows. The sound of gunfire could still be heard. The civilians had long since cleared out. Leaving only the J II's and the SOLDIERs fighting the enemy=

=Soon, the forces begin to thin out=
=Many are captured for interrogation=

=The fight is won at a terrible cost=
=Losing Hope had dealt a blow to them=

=The SOLDIERs will spend the night at Sacred Meadows and head back to Freemont for a debriefing=

=The SOLDIERs had made their way back to Freemont. The travel was silent as they mourned the loss of the many brave men and women that had died at Hope=

=They had arrived early in the morning and he had met with Miss Creed and Warren. Warren's eyes tell of the battle that had gone on. His whole demeanor was that of a crestfallen hero. It was clear he had deprived himself of sleep during the nights.=

=As he walked through the Royal Hall he heard her address him=

Sarah: Ah, Leo. Great job at Sacred Meadows.

=She pauses and sighs. It is clear that the war is taking it's toll on her=
