=He stops and turns to face the Quarian, looking down at her=

From what I've witnessed of you Quarians, I'd have every right to hate you. But i don't. Maybe sometimes i let my past take a hold of me, but I've been through a lot, and I've learned to suppress it. When I say I'm not 'that kind of person', i mean I'm not one to just be friends with somebody. I've seen too much for that. You'd have to earn my trust, Quarian.

=He takes off his helmet and places one claw over the piece of cloth, wrapped around his head like an eyepatch, that covered the hole where his left eye once was=

Not all Quarians are the same, friend. And I'm sorry for whatever it is that you went through.\

Her voice is sympathetic, her weapon now holstered.

=He attached his helmet to his belt and sighed, deciding maybe it would be better to just head home=

All the sorrys in the galaxy wont give me back my eye...

=He started walking in the direction he came from=

Or my family...

And all the mourning and bigotry in the world won't make the situation better.

She follows after him at a calm pace

You're right. Being a bigot wont help anything. Thats why i do my best not to be one. And mourning wont help anything either. Revenge is much, much sweeter.

Thanks for the offer, but I've already exacted my revenge. Let me just say, their corpses were left choking on something they'd typically pay a cheap whore to do so for 'em.

She reflected a bit on that, and shuddered

Well..Anyways...What are you doing here on Omega? You're obviously no killer...

=He had a bit of a memory flash. Some rather horrid images from his past, things he had done and things he had witnessed. It was nothing pretty. He began to twitch a bit, but quickly put a stop to it=

Not today... We're stronger than that... Right?

Hmm, I've done some real nasty things in my time...

=They began to enter the Slums where he lived=

So have I. I'm surprised you haven't heard of me, what with you living in the slums here.

She walks with him, looking along the all-too-familiar streets. She's done a lot of work here.

=Kessle ignored the comment. He eventually arrived at his house. It was a rather run-down place. Only three rooms, a livingroom/kitchen, a bathroom, and a bedroom. The furniture was a few years old, but was kept clean. He didnt have much money, but he enjoyed keeping a clean home. He didnt close the door behind him, as if silently saying "you can come in if you like" to Ineesha. He went over to his refrigerator, and grabbed a can of some kind of Turian drink. He went into his bedroom, shut the door, and fell onto the bed with a sigh. He put the can onto the nightstand, and sat upright. He began removing his armor, and placing it on the chair next to his bed. He removed his eye bandage, and replaced it with a new one. He fell back onto his side, and was quickly asleep. A small dog came walking into the house, and layed down in a small dog bed next to the couch, and it too fell asleep. The TV was off, and the remote was on the coffee table in front of the couch, along with a small notebook=

She stuck around until he fell asleep, and then ventured out into the slums once more in order to continue her patrol.

This has been an...Interesting day...

=He started to gesture at the people seated at the table. Every one of my team, was an N7 soldier. We were the best the Alliance had to offer=

"For demolitions, Lieutenant Chino."
=Chino was a man of dark skin, average build, and little hair. He was the best demolitions man I knew though, and despite his job, he was generally a great guy=

"For scouting and recon, Staff Lieutenant Greer."
=Greer was a calm, quite man. He was a crackshot with sniper rifles, and his ability to sneak around was borderline supernatural=

"And finally, your tech expert, Major O'Hara."
=He motioned at Kate=

Deek hand me that wrench.

I place my hand out from under the taxi that I was fixing, waiting from my drone to hand it to me.

Deek dammit where are you.

The air had a great stench to it, the oil from the taxi was old and it was a good thing that Turian had brought it to me when he did.

That drone.

I pushed myself away from the taxi, the cart I was on slowly rolled away to better air. As I came out I could see three figure waiting for me, my drone was staying still aiming at them. It seemed the reason it wasn't listening to me was because it was waiting for the threat to pass. I got up from the cart and looked that the three men that put my work on stall.

Yes, what do you want.

The leader who came closer to me was a batarian, from his armor I assumed he was Eclipse. He came up to me and handed me a manifest.

"You are the human they call Ryder?"

Yep.[u]

I read the manifest, they were stating problems with a ship. A ship that was brought to me to fix a couple weeks ago.

[u]Whats wrong with your ship now.

"The only thing that was wrong was letting a human fix my ship, these problems are your cause."

You're not instigating that I sabotaged your ship?

"What I am saying is that I should have never put my ship in the hands of a blight of a race. You can't even fix a simple ship. It's a wonder your race joined the council."

Now if there is one thing I hate more than and ugly batarian, it was one that was insulting my mechanic skills.

Calm down, four eyes. I fixed your ship to near perfect shape..

He glared at me with those four dark eyes in anger, but for some reason he stayed his temper.

"Look you human, I demand my credits back for all of the damage that you couldn't fix and caused."

I stared at him, and then to his buddies. I knew that this wasn't going to end well.

No refunds. I told you last time.

I crossed my arms and stood my ground awaiting a response.

=i got to my apartment and checked my messages. I already had another job offer, an escort mission. I skimmed it, as it wasn't a priority yet. Something about a human kid and take it to the docking bay. Price was something plus expenses. I didn't pay it much attention, obviously. I went over to the weapon bench and put the Saber on it. I grab some tools and get to work on it, opening it up and changing out some mods as well as cleaning the parts. It was slow work, but worth it. Your rifle is your first weapon, your pistol second, and yourself third. Best to keep the first two weapons ready=

=Okay, that caught me off guard a little. I mean sure, it seemed stupid to think what she was doing there to begin with, but I was hoping she was just here as a consultant of some kind=

"You look surprised Scott."

"Well, I just feel this is going to be a little bit awkward."
=I saw Chino and Greer chuckle=

"What do you want know?" I asked Alaya, still standing up. She did have a point, every council race had a reason to be here, but where any of them nearby? Would they even have the time to send help, with all the things that had been going.

"Is your previous relationship going to affect the mission?"

"No sir."
=At the exact same time=

*Kate*
"No sir"
=we both traded a look=

"Just out of curiosity, why is she being attached to my squad?"

*Kate*
"Because that fancy new piece of software you're using to catch the Geth? I wrote it. That makes me the most qualified person to use it."

"Where are you from? Why did you become a doctor?" I coughed "Anything really. Just take my mind off of this." I wondered if there were any survivors on the ship, the Geth attack had been brutal, I doubt any civilians would've had a chance.

She ran.

Keelah!

Ineesha sprinted down the almosy abandoned street, the only other thing accompanying her was the mercenaries behind her, and the ruthless hail of gunfire they let loose after her.

A few minutes ago, she had stolen something from them: a list of all their planned hits.

Also 200,000 Credits.

Girl's gotta eat.

Now she was paying the price. The gunshots boomed and burst around her, each one like a malevolent firework. She would've admired the beauty closely, had it not been aimed at her.

She lept inside of an open window, a most likely abandoned home. A krogan mercenary came looking for her, as the rest stayed back.

Come out, little Quarian! Come out and play!

A little bit closer, buddy... Come on...

The Krogan, sure enough, walked right in front of the window, unaware.

He was met by an up-close blast from her Claymore.

Not your day, you little bosh'tet...

She finished looting his body, when she heard the footsteps of more soldiers coming her way. She lept out of the back window, and was already gone by the time the remaining soldiers got there. Now, it was time to check that data, and see if she could save any of these people.

=i checked my available ammo types, and put an incendiary mod on the Saber. I also put on a thermal clip extension. Once that was done, I started to put it back together. I decided to work on my Grall next. Once I was done with my Saber, I dropped the Grall onto the bench and started to work on that one. This time it was mostly just cleaning it, polishing the blade and such=

Ineesha sat down on the beaten and torn couch in her apartment.

I wish I could have a bit better living conditions... At least a good couch...

She opened up her omni-tool, and started reading the list of targets. It was mostly just some random street thugs. People that the Blood Pack would want gone. But there was one target that caught her eye. One person that she didn't quite expect to reach down into the depths of some gang, no matter how powerful.

Councilor Anderson.


She stared at the name for a while, wondering.


What the hell does the Blood Pack want with Anderson...Who's paying them to do this..?

She couldn't sit around trying to figure that out. She needed to get to the council as soon as possible. Warn C-Sec. Warn the councilor. She had to do something.

This was big.

She packed up her weapons, and ran to the docks to go charter a ship to the citadel.

=once I finished cleaning my Grall, I put my weapons away in the locker, took off my armor, and fell down onto my bed for some sleep. I figured I might need it, after all, my work isn't easy=

"Well, my mother was from Thessia and my Dad lived on the Citadel. I was born on Illium, believe it or not, they were on a holiday and ended up getting stuck there for a while... And the Doctor thing? Probably just got it from my Dad. He was one of those fancy Salarian scientists. What about you?" I asked Alaya, checking the comm signal, it was still pretty good. Hopefully the Geth wouldn't catch on and disable it, or block it and trace it... Lets stay positive.

"Well, I'm a pure blood. My mother was a commando. She was killed while I was very young. I don't have much to remember her by. My other... parent, Lives on Thessia. She was a complete bitch with me. I think she was ashamed of my pure blood status." I coughed again "I became a commando because of my mother, both of them. One, so I could be more like her, the other to get away. I joined at 75, making me one of the youngest there is." I fell silent. I realised, even though I disliked my mother, I still loved her.

"Oh, I understand..." I said, not as focused on the Distress beacon as before, until I heard something... Something staticy. I listened in...

'Is------- ere?-----tra------loading b-------th ship------evac---ttles'

I coughed, and struggled to my feet, before walking over to the console.
"Repeat? *cough* The signal is bad." We had a chance. There were footsteps nearby.
"Tara, try to boost the signal. I'll cover you."
I raised my Phalanx and limped into cover behind a different console. I wasn't being caught off guard again.

"Okay, I'll try... Just don't get yourself killed, okay? I'd rather not have two deaths on my conscience." I said, jokinglyish. I began boosting the signal, or trying to. The symbol was weak, and the Geth interference wasn't helping at all...

'Is an-----there? -----Loading bay 7B--------Evac shuttles-------'

There were a lot of Geth walking through the door. I wouldn't have been able to gun them down, even if I wasn't holding my ribs with one arm. I remembered my training.
"Win Any way you can!" Spat the trainer as the Sparring mech kicked the crap out of me...again.
I tried every hand-to-hand move I could think of. Roundhouse kicks,Palm strikes, but nothing worked. Then it clicked. I pushed the mech away from me with biotics, and charged my fist with energy.
"Enough!" Shouted the Purple Asari "You beat it. I don't want to have to repair that thing again."

So, I'd have to fight dirty.
It hurt, but I did it.
I brought half of the ceiling down on the bastards. Overkill? Maybe. But they'd killed my friend. They Deserved it.
Only then did I realise that there was no deck above us anymore.
"Tara!" I shouted raising a barrier over the hole. "Help!"

I heard lots of... Collapsing noises, explosions, smashing, but I was still distracted on getting the signal stronger... Until Alaya shouted me, adn I turned around.

There was a giant hole in the roof.

Great.

Just great.

I ran towards her, "In the name of the Goddess, couldn't you have done something subtler!?"

"Probably!"I shouted back "At least the Geth can't get back through that way!"
Be positive about this, You might not have just killed us.
My ribs were hurting like hell, but I had to keep the barrier up.

= Two weeks had passed. =

I had taken a rather interesting contract, I had to act as the temporary go between for a Red Sand dealer. It wasn't a job I'd normally take, but it was something. All I had to do was bring a sample of the Red Sand to the customer, if they liked it they sent me back with some unspecified sum of money, the Dealer would then give the appropriate amount of Red Sand to me and I'd give it to the Customer. It was one of the easiest jobs I'd ever done. I didn't like that.

Jobs that are too easy often have hidden dangers that aren't immediately seeable by the guy doing to the job. I, of course, was not the average guy. I look like the kind of guy who'd you stay away from on a day to day basis. I'm not someone you bump into and have a chat. People bump into me, mutter their apologies and walk quickly away. I wasn't intimidating, at least, I didn't think so. But I felt that taking this Red Sand Job was associating myself with a stereotype. What that stereotype was, I could only guess, but that's how I felt.

The Job took a few days, but they were the most droll days in my mercenary career. If I wanted to be an errand boy I would have signed up for a postal service, or some messenger. Nevertheless the job paid well for my time, I made more on this job, since it was illegal, then most of my more challenging jobs. I still felt like I had to spend a few days cleaning myself in order to get that feeling off my conscious, and the feeling from my body.

The Red Sands job landed my on Omega. The city in an asteroid belt, and built of an asteroid. From the files I've read on Omega I knew that it was built in a mined-out husk of some metallic asteroid that was, obviously, mined for minerals. It's been a haven and meeting place, among other things I'm sure, for the scum of the scum of the galaxy. It was filled with criminals, however petty or grand, terrorists and their associated groups, general malcontents, and more. Not to mention the fact that there was no law or government on Omega. Like it's name, it was the last place you'd want to go. The chances of you being mugged entering are fairly hire, unless you look like you'd tear them to bits.

When I first arrived on Omega, to meet the man paying me for the Red Sand Job, I was approached by not one, not two, nor even three, but four Krogan. they were looking to intimidate me and score some money. I gave them a bruising, and with the the help of the Red Sand Dealer, drove them off. I wasn't really surprised that the Red Sand Dealer operated here, on Omega, it's been a hub for narcotics for as long as I can remember, which isn't very long, relatively speaking. I knew a guy who essentially struck it rich with illegal weapons trafficking. For a while there was eezo trafficking, I haven't kept up in those circles so I don't know if it does still, but there's not even a pretense of civilian government or even a legitimate military power in control of Omega, so really, if I heard about any sort of trafficking, I wouldn't be surprised.

However, I have heard that Mercenary groups have been able to instill some form of order amidst the chaos. I remember one of them, off the top of my head, an Asari syndicate run by Aria T'Loak, I have heard pretty terrible things in regards to how ruthless she runs things. I would even go as far as to say she's the ruler of Omega. Whether or not that's true, I still like to send her a favor or two, usually in the form of information. She's also the one I normally send word to if I need a job, sometimes she hooks me up, sometimes she doesn't.

Now, however, I had some free time. For the moment I decided to view Omega, go to its clubs, try and have fun. Then my Omni-tool beeped. The ID system dubbed the message classified and from the Alliance. Classified materials generally meant that it was N7. Which means my sabbatical was up and that I had to return to the program. I'll read the message later. Now, I'm going to see a contact.

=Scene=

He walks across Omega, going through the clinics filled with people caught between the crossfire of rivaling mercenary groups, whether it by Blue Suns, Eclipse, or Blood Pack it didn't matter. The people here, were passerby's. He passed by without a second glance. He followed his gut. He knew where to go. This contact wasn't difficult to find. He seldom left his home. Or is lab.

He was a Tech-expert. He specialized in upgrading software. Whether it be legal or illegal. Nicholas needed his omni-tool upgraded, for advanced hacking purposes. He also needed parameters fixed before he returned to the Alliance. He had been working undercover as a mercenary. Working undercover allowed him access to state-of-the-art weapons, and tech. It was because of his independent work that he was able to afford new Biotic implants, stronger, more stable.

The contact was in his home, as usual. The inside of the home was a mess. Old food boxes littered the floor, dirty clothes, cans, junk, it was sordid. Nicholas walked carefully around the piles of trash to get to the back room.

"Drop the barrier, I'll hold it up, you can work on finding us a way out!" I shouted, hoping that I would be able to hold up the barrier. Alaya was in now condition to hold it, she'd taken a beating off the Geth before.

I dropped the barrier and moved looked around. There wasn't a way out! Unless...
I limped over to the ladder again. And looked down. It was a long drop. But the only way out, as far as I could tell.
"Tara! Over here!"

I walked back, slowly, towards Alaya, still trying to keep the barrier up, it was hard work... Tiring, and the barrier was getting smaller, and weaker each time...

I could tell by the way Tara was walking the barrier was going to fail anytime soon. So, I pushed her down the ladder, and closed the door before jumping through myself, Sealing the room and keeping the vacuum in there.
Now all I had to do was catch Tara.

One minute I was standing... The next I was falling.

"Alaya!? Alaya?!!?" I shouted, as I continued falling.

Ineesha sat on the ship in silence. She was there with a few Turians transferring over to work with C-sec. She had the nagging urge to engage in some "water cooler" conversation... What with her being in "law enforcement" and all.

Tight ass Turians... Born with a pole up their asses...

She giggled a bit at the thought, as the ship docked on the Citadel. She walked off of it, checking in any weapons with C-sec, and heading out. She had to look into things a little bit more before she warned Councilor Anderson.

I caught up to Tara, and grabbed her. I tried to slow our decent with my Biotics. I only partially succeeded. When We hit the bottom of the shaft, We weren't killed, but I was knocked out cold. At least we hadn't been sucked into space.

When we hit the bottom, I'm pretty sure I broke something, but I was still awake...

But Alaya was unconscious.

And there were footsteps. Again.

"Alaya? Alaya, come on, wake up!" I said.

I was out cold, Not waking up anytime soon. I'd taken most of the fall to my head. My pistol was still in my hand, but I wasn't waking up and using anytime soon.

"You wrote that? Huh, impressive."
=Truth be told, it was not that surprising. After all, Kate was smart with computers. Granted, there were always people smarter than her, but she was among the most creative. This.....cage, was pretty good. Not that I was going to tell her that anytime soon=

*Kate*
"Impressive? it's just about one of the best damn cyber warfare algorithms I've ever made."
=And there's the reason for the breakup. Kate was a good person, don't get me wrong. But she just had such a high opinion of herself and her job, it went past annoying, and more towards suffocating=

"Alaya? Alaya? Shi..." I grabbed the M8-Avenger which I'd dropped after the fall, and readied it. Or well, to the best I could. I shuffled behind the Cover of a wall, as the footsteps got closer...

=Kessle awoke the next morning, feeling slightly worse than the day before, but he couldn't quite tell why. He went out of his room and made his way into the kitchen, and began preparing sandwich of some assortment. He did not see Ineesha anywhere, which didn't surprise him. He knew he wasn't the easiest person to get along with, especially for people he had only just met. He put the sandwich on a paper plate and went back into the livingroom, where he sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. He noticed that his notebook still sat on the table, completely untouched, which was unexpected. It was not that he didn't trust Ineesha, although he still did not entirely, it was more that he was surprised that her apparent curiosity didn't lead to the book being opened at all. He put the thought aside and ate his breakfast, paying half-attention to the TV. The dog that had rested in the bed by the couch the night before had already left the small home, so that Kessle was the only creature in it. After he finished eating, he threw out the plate and went into the bathroom for a brief shower. He then proceeded to get back into his armor, minus the helmet, and head back out into the city, closing the front door behind him=

I regained some consciousness, but I still couldn't move. That fall had made my ribs worse, I groaned weakly, trying to force myself to get up, I couldn't and fell back down, feeling defeated.
I knew we were in trouble, but I couldn't do anything.

I saw Alaya trying to get up, I would've helped, but there were alot of angry Geth trying to shoot me. I fired into the group of synthetics, hitting one a few times that seemed to been carrying some sort of Flame Thrower. I went to fire some more, but the gun stopped. Just stopped. I must've been out of those... Urm... Thermal clips. I looked around, but I failed to see any more that might've dropped. I then threw a biotic ba- I used throw, and one of the geth flung back, smashing into the wall, and its headlight head smashing. I felt drowsy, but moved back behind the wall, trying to figure out what to do.

My eyes snapped open. I could see all of the Geth. There were too many. I thought back to training.
"T'ZELA! CLEAR THE ROOM!" Screamed the instructor.
I'd tried and tried. This was during my 29th year of training, the most grueling year. But by then, our bodies had been perfected for killing. I closed my eyes...
I closed my eyes... And stood up

"Alaya? You cant fight! You aren't in any state too!" I shouted at her.

I would've ran over to her, but I would've been... Well... Plasm'd. I kept my head down, not poking it out.

=Kessle soon wandered into Afterlife, a popular hangout for him and his friends. He didn't know what it was, but something drove him to ask if anybody had known where the Red-garbed Quarian had gone, for he could not recall her name. Eventually, he got the answer. She had gone to the Citadel, as he found out from one of the 'innocents' down in the slums. He sighed for a moment, but then had a thought. He checked his Omni-tool, and began going through his list of jobs available. Sure enough, a hit was needed on the Citadel. He quickly accepted the mission, and set out for one of the many ports of Omega. He payed for a ticket for transport to the Citadel aboard a public transit ship that was on its way there. He checked to make sure he had all his weapons on him, and went onto the ship. About twelve minutes later, they were away. For the first time in his life, Kessle was leaving Omega.

And he had no idea why...=
