ZRP-2: Brave New World

*Quartermaster*
"Well, we have a few dozen arrows on hand. Feel free to sort those out among yourselves. Let me see that list ma'am, and I'll see what we have, or what we can spare."

"Oh, well then happy birthday. My name is Wrex, the W is silent. And I am 28 years old." Saying with a joking tone by how weird this must be.

Hibiki rattled off the ammo she needed; 9mm and the NATO rounds for her G36K.
Luckily, the same rounds that most M4s and M16s used, if memory served correctly.

*Quartermaster*
"Alright....some of this we have, but not much. Can spare four, maybe five clips if you're lucky. But first..."
=He walked away, out of sight for a moment, before returning from behind an aisle, a small tin tube a few inches across in hand. The tails stuck out, each fin a different color or pattern. He slid the tube through the slot, and I picked it up, handing it to Andrew=

"Andrew, count the arrows, and divide them equally between the three of us."

=I nod, and place the arrows into separate piles, dividing them evenly=

The farthest left are my arrows, the one in the middle is yours, James.

=I then point to the last pile=

And here are Eve's.

"Alright, thanks Andrew."
=I picked up my pile, placing them gently into my quiver. Once that was done, I took Eve's pile, and held it out to the girl=

"Here ya go Eve."

=In between all that, the quartermaster had disappeared, only to reemerge from the aisles with a handful of clips. He must have been feeling generous, because he also had a vest hanging over his arm, pockets all along the sides for the clips=

*Quartermaster*
"Guess today is your lucky day ma'am."

I head over to the back room and walk in. Noticing the girl flash a smile at... Wrex?

"Thanks for saving me. I didn't think you would."

She looks at me for a second before looking back over to Wrex.

"So do you two know eachother?"

Looking at tyler and then back to Jennifer, "to be quite honest he is as much a stranger to me as you are."

I shrug, "But he has protected me and I protected him, So I guess we know each other."

"So you two came together just to save me. Huh"

"Yeah. Pretty much... I'm just going to get to the question on my mind. Do you know if there is a lockdown town nearby?"

"Yeah. It's not far from where we were at. I don't have a clue where are now though."

Hibiki dropped her stuff and put the vest on under her jacket, then filled the slots with clips.
"Guess it is. Feel like I'm back on SWAT. Now where's my tank and my Blackhawk?" she said jokingly. "Thanks Quartermaster. I'll put these to good use taking those bastards down so people can live with only the fear of stumbling corpses."

"Well then its obvious that we should head there. Can either of you use a rifle?"

"Okay. So I neglected to say I used to shoot rifles with my father down at the firing range. I'm not too good though. Why I said nothing."

(James)
=I grinned at her joke a little=
"I'll be sure to put it on the Christmas list for you Hibiki."

=Nodding my thanks to the quartermaster, I settled with just standing close to the group. Things got a little...tense though, when one of the guards, a tall man maybe in his 30's, walked over to us, eyes on Eve=

*Guard*
"What's this little girl doing here with a weapon?"
=He chuckled a little=

"Little girls shouldn't be playing with the weapons...."

Eve glared up at the man.
"Follow."
She marched out, glanced over to the range, looked at the man...then drew her bow, knocked an arrow.
And, still glaring at the man, she let t loose. It flew away from her, then split an arrow at the center of the farthest, and kept going, lodging itself in the post in the back. She never stopped glaring at the man.

=I had followed the both of them, doing my best to hide the grin on my face. Walking up to Hibiki, I whispered to her=
"Quite the archer she is. You should be proud."

=I look and simply stare, absolutely impressed=

I haven't seen archery like that since before Judgment Day

=I quietly clap from behind them, impressed=

"I always am proud of her. She could survive on her own if needed, and she's just...she's amazing. I'm...I'm blessed to be able to call her my daughter." Hibiki answered.

"Well I would give you my shotgun, but I have had this thing since I was a kid and all I have is slugs. Just figure since we have a rifle and some bullets for it, might be useful."

"Well she's lucky to have you for a mother. You're certainly someone to look towards as a role model."

*Rude Guard*
"No way.....no way she just did that."

(James)
=I decided to walk over to the slack jawed idiot, and just as I did with Hibiki, I quietly whispered to him=
"I think she just did. So you better watch your attitude around her buddy, or the next arrow? It's going right for you."

"I wouldn't take it from you anyhow. The recoil would have me kissin' it."

I smile for a second and take the sniper rifle off the floor. Then throwing it over my shoulder with the strap around my chest and neck.

"So... do you want to carry her? Or me?"

=I look at the guard and whisper to him=

If I were you...I'd just be quietly amazed.

=I lean in closer=

Be smart, or you might be losing your boys.

=I fold my arms, grinning=

=Meanwhile, a few people who were watching clapped their hands, clearly impressed with Eve's performance. I decided I might as well walk over to her, give her some praise=
"Nice shooting tex."

Eve blushed, pleased.
"Thanks. I've had practice for two years in hell. Teaches you a lot."
She grinned up at James, then went over and hugged Hibiki, who petted the girl's head.
"Yep. She's amazing."

"Well I can probably carry her longer than you can, and I can swing my bat well enough. So I guess I will."

I then Procceed to slide my bat into my backpack.

"Alright people, unless I'm wrong there was an attack on a Shepherd camp we're preparing for?!"
=Everyone there went quiet for a moment, some of them nodding their heads in silent agreement=

"Well, let's get to it."

"Alright. I'll keep an eye out then."
I look over to the girl who tried to stand up again. She failed again.
"Hey, what's your name? I never did catch it."
"Jennifer."
"Okay Jennifer. Whenever we all leave and you start to remember the area. Say so and we'll follow your lead."
"You trust me that much?"
"You haven't given me a reason not to. Besides. You need us to survive."
"True true..."

(James)
=I didn't want to say they cheered, or even shouted "Hell yeah!" But they all said, in pretty much the same confident tone, "Yeah." I made sure not to let it go to my head or anything, as I walked with Andrew back towards Hibiki and Eve=

"Okay, we have the ammo, now let's go discuss the plan. To Marcus?"

I get close to jennifer and pick her up with both of my arms, Craddling her. She wasnt too heavy definetly less than 150 lbs. I turn towards Tyler. "Okay, less get going."

"Right behind you." Hibiki and Eve said as one.

"Alright. I guess I don't even need to say follow me. Just....walk with me?"
=At the last three words, I started to walk back towards the center of town=

I open the door and step out. I look around the store while I hold the door open for Wrex.
He walks through and we walk out of the building through the broken doors. That's when Jennifer shouts out.
"I know this place! We're not even ten minutes away!"

"Well. That was pretty damn quick. You sure you know where you are?"

She nods and points to our right. Indicating that's the direction of the town. I take the rifle off my back and aim down the scope.

"The road looks clear from here."

=I said in a whisper loud enough for the three of them to hear=
"Man, I hope riling them up like that doesn't come back to bite me in the ass...."

"10 minutes? So is that by car or on foot?" I ask jokingly as I head off in the direction indicated.

(James)
=We all walked back to the sheriff's office. By this time the sun was starting to get low, thought it wasn't about to set yet. The time of the attack was growing closer=
Well, let's see if we can make a successful plan.

=Opening the door, I held it open for Hibiki, Eve, and Andrew to enter, following soon behind=

I start heading in that direction too. The rifle I rest in y hands.

As we walk for what seems alot longer than 10 minutes we seem what looks to a bus blocking the way with an erected wall. It has around 10 people with guns standing on top of it.

"Oh this looks good." I say with a bit of sarcasm.

*Marcus*
=He was waiting for us, the map spread open on a table in the center of the room, he and two others gathered around the table. They pointed here and there on the map, and it was only when I cleared my throat did they look up=
"Ah, James. I gather you've got what you need?"

(James)
"That we do."

"Good? This could end terribly!"

I answer with the same bit of sarcasm. Then take a step towards the bus with my hands in the air.

"Hey! Uh... would you guys mind if we uh... come in?"

Hibiki shrugged at James, as did Eve. The two followed silently.

When they arrived, Hibiki took position next to James, Even hiding behind her mother, only half her face showing. She was hugging around Hibiki's stomach, more of just shy from her showing off...for some reason.

=I followed them inside take a position just behind James=

Just to be safe...

=I fold my arms, my face with a half-expectant expression=

--Lockdown Town Wall--

=There was already a pair of guards waiting outside by the wall, and they came out of cover to meet the new arrivals=

*Guard*
"Well howdy. If you want in, you're going to have to submit to a patdown."

I walked up to about 5 feet in front of the guards. Even from here I was looking down on them. I place Jennifer down on the ground. Putting my bag and shotgun on the ground beside me.

"Fine by me."

"Okay then."
I set the rifle on the ground, take out my pistol and put that on the ground too. Then start pulling out my knives...

(James)
"What's the word on the plan?"

*Marcus*
"Half the guard will remain here for defense, while you and six of my men will go and ambush the camp through the woods. We'll be ready to leave in another two hours, once it gets dark enough."

(James)
"Okay, this is good."
=I stayed rooted to my spot though=

"If this works, what next?"

*Marcus*
"I'll have something special in store for you James. Just make this a victory first."

--Town Wall--

=The guards proceeded to pat them down, checking every spot that could have concealed a weapon. Once they confirmed they were clean, they let them in=

I grab my back pack and shotgun and slide them on my back. And then reach down and pick up Jennifier. And just wait while Tyler puts all his stuff back on.

I quickly start putting my knives back into my coat. Along with my pistol. Then I grab the rifle and proceed inside the town.

"Okay then."
=I'll admit, I was interested by whatever he was talking about, but I had to survive first=

Well....I've got someone worth living for, I think, right next to me. That should be reason enough to make this a win.

As I walk past the guardsI turn to one. "Oh hey, last I checked there was a herd of walkers heading this way. Also do you have a doctor of some sort in town?"

=The news about the walkers unnerved them a little, especially in light of the recent plans to attack the Shepherd camp. As for the doctor, they just shook their heads=

*Guard*
"Had a doctor, until someone who was bit got in a few weeks ago."

"I'm sorry to hear that, but than you anyways. "

I then procceeded to walk into town, following tyler.
