Soul Academy RP

I found my seat in homeroom and sat in it, other than answering my name when it was called, I sat in silence. Rin was introduced, and our teacher explained that this happens occasionally, especially this close to the beginning of the year.

Cain paid no mind to the new girl that was announced by the teacher only giving her a quick glance from behind his book.

"Well she looks awfully innocent. Wonder what her ability is," he thought while turning the page.

-Rin-

After I was introduced, I sat down in a free seat and listened attentively, waiting for class to end so I could go to the next one.

Cain put his book away when it seemed everyone was in class. Soon the teacher started calling out names making sure everyone was here.

I must've fallen asleep during homeroom, because before I knew it, a classmate nudged me awake as it ended. I again racked my fogged brain, trying to remember which lesson I had first.
"Training," I though glumly. Usually I'd have been eager for the practice, but today I was just too tired.

I woke up from my nap, and as I stared at the clock, it slowly dawned on me that my little nap resulted in me skipping class. Whoops.....well I had to hope that my teacher wouldn't be upset. If I was remembering correctly, then I could still catch my training session in the field. So, getting up and out of bed, I grabbed my soul and headed for the training fields. I also wondered when I actually had to see the Archangel.

Well, training was next on my list. I remembered where they were, having seen them on the map so that was where I headed. But a sudden thought crossed my mind: I didn't have a training outfit.

I headed out to the training area with the rest of my class. I stifled another yawn as we neared the changing rooms, and once inside, I started to change quickly.

Rei lazily hugged Lily fromnbehind once the latter's shirt was off. Their bqre skinnmade contact, causing Rei to blush, ironicly enough.
"I'm tired Lily..." she said softly.

After reaching the locker room, I was thankful to find that yes indeed, the school did supply me with a uniform. As I busied myself with changing, an odd occurrence caught my eye.......Rei giving Lily an almost intimate hug after the latter removed her shirt to change, and my mouth kinda went off on reflex. "Isn't the school against sexual harassment?"

So thankfully, I was able to get to locker rooms without entering a full sprint, which lets face it would have been a bitch for me and my wounds. No one else seemed to notice my late arrival or previous absence, which suited me just fine since I've never been one for attention, and I immediately set about changing clothes.

Cain intrest in these suits were high. He wondered if there was a way to add protection while keeping its mobility and flexibility. How woumd he get his hands on this fabric was ankther question. He pondered these thoughts whil walking onto the training field. Wonder what todays lesson would be about?

I pushed Rei off of me with an exasperated sigh, also ignoring Rin's comment, and finished changing without a word.

Rei looked at Rin, slowly changing.
"Nnhuh? H..." she rubbed her eyes. "She's my friend."

"Good point. But I've never hugged my friends bare back like that before..." I said as I finished getting dressed. Not waiting for either Lily or Rei, I walked out to the training field.

-Jason-

I think I broke a record or something, the speed at which I got dressed was amazing. Guess that nap did the trick for me, because the past few minutes had been a blur and before I knew it, there I was out on the field. I saw Rin, and waved at her. "Hey Rin!" I called out, and she turned to see me, smiling slightly as she walked over. "Hey there Jason," she said. "You seem wide awake." Grinning shyly, I responded with "Well all I needed was a nap."

I walked out onto the field, having gotten changed. Looking around, it was hard to believe I'd only been here for such a short time, yet already come so close to death. Closer than I'd thought, if what the Archangel had said about Sariel was true.

It was easy to see how much we've grown in a short time. Unlike the first couple of day students were initiating their tasks quicker and much more efficiently. Before we were shambles, fresh blood, but no we were becoming more organised. Our lines waiting for the instructor was firm and faces had a resolute not found in the beginning. I looked around the surrounding area to see what we would be doing today.

The lesson continued as normal, until something like a fire alarm was sounded. The teachers looked at each other, apparently they had no idea what was going on either, and began to round the students up and move them along in an orderly fashion to the assembly hall.

Rei slid next to Lily.
"What's going on?"

Rin and Jason traded a look, unsure of what was happening until the teacher came by and herded them, along with the other students to the assembly hall. "What's going on? Is this normal?" Rin asked, and Jason shook his head.

"I don't know," I answered Rei as we were led into the assembly hall. It looked like the whole school had been brought in from various lessons, and all of them looked as confused as we were.

The sudden alarm had a startling effect on the student body in training, it was apparent on their faces as they huddled together and walked into the assembly hall. I was in the back taking everything up in whole wondering what the emergency was. I hadn't realised how big the assembly hall was until I noticed that most of the Sanctuary student had entered the hall with more coming in by the minute. My gut feeling was giving my the idea that this wasn't just a fire drill.

Frowning, Rei kept close to Lily.
"Lily..." she faltered, then grabbed Lily's arm. "too many auras...it's...it's just a mass..." she whimpers, burying her face in Lily's shoulder.

I didn't push Rei away this time, seeing as she was genuinely in pain from all of the people surrounding her. Instead, I let her keep her face hidden as the Archangel came onto the podium.
"All of you have been removed from your various lessons, and most of you are probably wondering why," He said, looking down at our faces, "The reason for this is that we fear for your safety. A demon was seen earlier today, close to the academy grounds,"

"Normally," he said, "This would not be a problem, as there are angels here who could kill a demon without any difficulty," He looked grave at this point, and he took a deep sigh, as though he was extremely tired, "This demon killed the angel sent to slay it, and then vanished. As of now, all of you will return to your dorms,"

The reaction to the word demon rose something in the students. Some were excited, perhaps seeing a way to prove themselves in any way deemed and other were frightened, this was apparent in their blank stare or the soft undertone of their voice as they chatted amongst themselves. It seemed I too was put into the group of those eager to meet the demon. I could feel my heartbeat speed as well as the sudden shaking of my hands. I quickly calmed these as I thought up a plan to leave this place. It wasn't that I couldn't leave, that was easy. The two guards at the dorm doors as to make sure no one left, I could easily put to sleep or at least slow their reaction so I could make a clean escape. No that would cause a sudden reaction and alarm the others. Hmm what if I could make someone fake an illness or raise someone's fear and nervousness to cause a scene and easily make an escape. No one would notice, to masks one presence was simple, everyone has one. All I would have to do is make myself harmless, unnoticeable, like an ant on the ground. No one pays attention to something that they can't feel. Humans as a whole give off an aura of such, it's what attracts ones eye to another. With my ability I could bypass that feeling. But that wasn't the issue. I needed more information about this demon, what level was he, where his location was, also another issue was present. I myself am not an offensive player, what I needed was someone who could pack a punch. But who.

A demon? Near the school? Having already encountered one demon (and barely surviving it at that) Jason was on the verge of shaking. The only thing that kept him from doing so, was Rin, since he didn't want his friend to worry. They got separated on the way back to the dorms, each returning to their own room.

-Jason-

A demon? A fucking demon this close to the school? I thought to myself. If it had already killed one angel then it was definitely a powerful one, and that did not bode well for me and my ability to maintain control of my bladder. Entering my room, the first thing I noticed was something on my desk. It was a note, along with a small object. Picking up the object I found it was in fact a flashdrive. The note read "Plug this into the Archangel's terminal and run the program. Sincerely, Boss."

Oh great, in addition to the demon there was this from the gang leader back in Pendragon. Something told me they were connected somehow but I had no idea. How I was to get to the Archangel's office though.....well I had no idea.

Instead of going back to my room, I sat in the living area on the ground floor, where most of the other students were. A lot of them were talking, most of them, being as they were all first years, were terrified, but some were talking about killing the demon, which annoyed me somewhat.
"Don't be stupid," I said to the nearest group considering sneaking out, "It killed an actual angel, it'd kill a student with no problems," As I spoke, the incident I had caused myself stood out in my mind.

Then again.....he did want to see me after class, right? Sure he wasn't counting on a demon to get to the school but still, that could have been a decent excuse to get me past the faculty. And I couldn't wait, my family was on the line here even if they didn't know it. So I left my room, and started to make my way to the Archangel's office.

On the bright side I had a decent idea of where the Archangel's office was. I had to, since he offered lessons to me and I needed to figure out where I was going. So reaching his office wasn't a problem. In fact, it almost seemed vacant outside, but I guess everyone was on patrol for the demon. Slipping inside, I wondered if this was where I got expelled, with the Archangel finding me sneaking into his office. However, the place was empty inside, no Archangel in site. There was a computer on a desk, and that was where Jason went. Finding a USB port, he immediately stuck the flashdrive in, and waited to see what happened.

After plugging in the USB, the screen of the computer flashed up with a dialogue box, with two buttons, Start and Cancel.

I looked over at who had spoken, finding it was Ashiri,
"Didn't you listen? The demon vanished, the have to find it before they can kill it,"

Well......no going back really, I thought to myself, as I used the mouse to click start.

After clicking start, the box changed, instead showing a progress bar, which filled rapidly. After reaching the 100% marker, a small message appeared for a moment, before the computer shut down.

Ashiri had a point, usually a demon would never have gotten so close, or even been able to hide like it did. Granted, a demon had crept up on us, but it hadn't vanished from the area.

I don't know why but I got a cold feeling in my stomach when I read the message. Like something bad was going to happen and I was the cause of it. But there was nothing for it, except to take the drive and leave and return to my room.

Rei was sitting against Lily, arms around Lily's waist. She rested her head on her friend's shoulder, relaxing.
"Im sorry...I wasn't ready. All those auras, swirling and pulsing with confusion, fear, distrust...I'm sorry for being pathetic, Lily..."

"It's fine Rei," I said, trying to comfort her, but what Ashiri had said had stuck in my mind.

A sword flashed in front of Jason, stopping barely at his throat. The holder was a woman in a black hood, everything above her mouth hidden.
"You should be careful, I almost took you for an angel," Sariel said, slightly mockingly, "I thought that you were supposed to stay in your dorm?"

The fact that there was a demon alert, coupled with what I just did with the Archangel's computer, was probably what made me so tightly wound that I actually jumped back from the sword and drew my own, standing in a defensive posture (or at least what I remembered to be a defensive posture) as I stared down the hooded woman. And I recognized her voice. "Sariel," I said. "Where there's demons there's a Fallen Angel it seems."

Like a shadow I slipped from my dorm. Having never truly returned in the first place. Maybe if you use your power, you'll be able to kill it in one hit... Upon cats' paws I tread around the school. Avoiding any sort of patrol meant to keep students from wandering. Using my skills and my talents to remain unseen passing through liminal passages waiting for a commotion to pounce on, explore. If this Demon killed an Angel, and then vanished, was it really a Demon, or was it one of the Fallen whom are so rarely talked about? Perhaps looking for that Black Grimoire would reveal some answers so covered here. Though, attaining it would mean I become exiled. Fallen from grace. But what if that's what it took to remove the demon threat? In order to Protect the world, we had to resort to some drastic measure. You could use your soul upon the demon, and put the others in awe after you slay it in one cut...

Cold icy tendrils wormed themselves through my gut. These tendrils held doubt and thoughts of betrayal in them. These thoughts plagued me. They ate me up on the inside. Not only that, but these ego driven thoughts, these wants. I did not want attention, yet I craved it. I did not need to use my power to kill a demon, yet I wanted to show it off. I wanted to prove myself to myself. My own heart put before the safety of others. That's what I wanted, but it's not what I did. I actively put others before myself. Helping the other 3rd years who were behind in their training, or who were picked on. Though I never engaged the people who did the picking, I always helped the person pick up his or her books and papers from the ground.

Christ, I'm so conflicted.

"You remembered me, I'm flattered," She said, the mocking tone still in her voice, "What? Are you going to fight me? Put the sword down before you get hurt,"

She lowered her own and walked past Jason, "You might want to get inside, the demon's pretty close by and it's not half-starved this time," she said with an amused smile, "Unless, of course, you're out here trying to kill it yourself?"

Rei slightly moved a bit, whimpering. The shock of all the aura falling upon her was finally lessening, thankfully.

I let her walk behind me, getting a foot or two of distance between us before I spun and placed the sword on her shoulder, the flat side of the blade resting calmly there and the edge an inch from her neck. It was probably the dumbest thing to do and nigh suicidal, but maybe it was because I didn't want to live long enough to see the outcome of what I did earlier. Or perhaps no matter how weak I was compared to her, I didn't want to let a Fallen Angel get away without trying to do something. "Just taking a stroll," I said, voice calm and quiet. "So what brings you here then? Hunting the demon or did you miss me?" It was surprising, to me mostly, how cocky I sounded. Hell the mask I wore then, one of courage and arrogance, nearly had me convinced that I was in fact that sort of person.

Sariel grinned, genuine amusement appearing on her face,
"Just though I'd see whether Sanctum is as safe as everyone thinks," she answered, "The security here is terrible, I mean, just look how close I brought that demon," The smile dropped quickly though, and all of the friendly attitude and sarcasm she had shown vanished, "But if you don't move your sword, we'll see if the death of a student makes security any better,"

Well I didn't have to keep the sword pressed against her, but there was no way I wasn't keeping it out of the sheathe. Pulling it back towards me, I kept the sword raised and at an angle, with the blade hovering before me as I kept it ready. "And here I thought you saving me that time was a gesture of partisanship," I said. "Why lead the demon here?" I asked her.

Sariel shrugged her shoulders,
"Why not? Why not just walk into the dorms right now and butcher everyone inside?" She smiled, "Why save you the other day? It wouldn't be the first time a student here has died because of stupidity," She spun around on the spot, with the grace of a dancer, and faced Jason, "Why stay here, do as you're told until you graduate, become an angel, and then do as you're told until you die?"

I shrugged my shoulders as well, though my blade never shifted to a position to make me vulnerable. "Maybe I like having a daily routine. And that doesn't answer my question, Sariel. Why save me, hell why let me live?" I took a step closer to her, still unable to see more than her chin, and said "Not that I've met other Fallen Angel's before, but you don't come off as.......heartless, otherwise why go to the trouble of saving me and my friends. You talked to me. Hell you managed to get this far inside without raising an alarm, and stopped to reveal yourself, to me. A paranoid person might think you're stalking me."

"Who says Fallen Angels are heartless? Your archangel? 'History is written by the victors.', Jason, and they only won because of what Azazel did, not their own actions," the corners of her mouth twitched slightly, "Maybe I've just decided that I like messing with you in particular, who knows?"
