Chapter 6 - Complications part 7

=Miri and I got to the mess hall, and we each got ourselves a meal. We then found a table, and sat down to eat=

@ Jason- So, what's your plan?

=I chewed for a moment, thinking how to respond=

@ Miranda- Well, first, we stick around for a bit. We don't have to be at Therum for at least three more days, so that gives us some free time. I'll ask Dormii and anyone else if they'd like to tag along. But I don't really feel comfortable asking these guys to walk into a trap.

=i sigh=
Yeah. Simple form, I'm evil and those who I have wronged come out to torment me by making me attack others. Complicated form...takes a long time to explain fully.

@Dormii: 'Evil'? What have you done thats that bad that you call yourself evil?

=i look away=
Well, first I killed off an entire settlement, then watched as my team died, then killed an entire frigate.

Granted, the settlement was caused by the shock of losing two entire teams each on their first mission, my team dying was caused by my training forcing me to put an order in front of lives, and the ship was caused by the same thing, but those aren't really excuses, I still did them.

=Miranda looked me in the eyes=

@ Jason- Why, isn't that what they asked you to do yesterday?

=That made me feel uncomfortable. Mostly because it was true. I held the evac site against the stuff of nightmares, and at their request no less=

=Silaev boards Recon-S1 and takes off from the Comet. The small ship jumps towards his coordinates from his last mission=

@Dormii: You may have destoyed a settlement and whatever else you did, but what you did was fueled by shock and natural instincts. Whoever trained you is the guilty one in all of this, not you.

=I looked back at her=

Maybe so, but still, I won't demand anything. All I'm going to do is ask. If they say no, then I'll go alone.

=I paused to give that statement some thought=

Maybe that's the way it should be.

=I go to the Armoury and retrieve another duffle bag full of weapons and ammo=

=i smile for a second=
You have no idea how many people have said that.

=i look back at her=
Thanks, but that doesn't change the fact they still haunt me.

@Dormii: I guess it's just normal human instinct to help people.

=She smiles.=

@Dormii: So where do we head next on the adventure around the Trophaem?

In my case it's religious as well.

=i smile and stand up again=
Umm...I honestly don't know. We could head down to the planet, see if there's anything going on down there?

@Dormii: May as well. It should be safe now that those Flood things are gone, right?

=Miranda had a stunned look on her face, her mouth dropped open in silence. It didn't last long=

Jason, you know that's suicide. If it is a trap, and you face them alone, then you'll die. You may be able to make them pay for it, but the fact remains: You. Will. Die.

=i offer my hand again=

=She gets up with help from Dormii.=

@Dormii: I swear, this is getting routine.

=i pick Laura up, again, chuckling=
It sure is.

=we head off to the grav room, passing by the messhall on the way there=

=Recon-S1 comes out of Slipspace above Olympus. It enters orbit and, without stopping, drops Silaev's ODST pod. It jumps back to the Comet=

=I noticed Dormii walking with someone past the mess hall, and I got up=

@ Miri- Look, there he is now. I'll ask him if he wants to join.

=Miri got up, and we both headed to speak with Dormii=

Hey Dormii, wait up!

=i turn around, still carrying Laura=
Hey Jason. Walk with us.

=i notice his friend=
You and your friend, too, if you want.

=I smile a little=

Thanks.

=I motioned to Miri=

This is Miranda by the way. She's my contact.

=Miri gave a cross look, and held out her hand to Dormii=

=i set Laura down for a moment, letting her use me as a balance, and shake hands with Miranda=
Hi, Miranda. Dormii Fortuni. Nice to meet you.

(Miranda)

Miranda Moreau. I understand you're one of Jason's new friends.

=I wake up=

That I am. I understand you may be more than an old friend with him.

=one side of my mouth curls up in a joking smile=


(Lana)
=i wiggle a bit and press closer to Kurbis, still asleep=

(Silaev USO)

=Silaev's pod enters atmosphere nearly sideways. He flies through the air as he desperately tries to comm the Trophaeum, or any nearby humans=

*Static Comms, nearly incomprehensible*

=His pod rips through the air and flies into the Trophaeum's hanger. It skids across the floor, sending sparks all over. It slows down slightly before shooting out the other side, and begins descending towards the ground in an arch, staring out horizontal, slowly becoming more and more vertical=

*More desperate static over comms*

(Miranda)

=I smile a little myself=

Well, that may be the case, but I don't kiss and tell.

(Jason)

=I felt my face get a little red=

=I remember what I said the day before=

Lana, Lana Stenzier...

=I look down at her=

(Dormii)
=i laugh, both at her statement and at Jason's face=
Oh yeah, she's perfect for you, Jason.

=i chuckle again=
Laura and I were just heading down to the planet to see if there was anything to do, wanna come with?

(Jason)

=I shifted a little, feeling uncomfortable=

Actually there's something i wanted to ask you. And it has a story behind it.

=I run my fingers through her hair=

(Dormii)
=my face goes serious=
Yeah? What is it?

(Lana)
=i slowly start to wake up=
mmmmm......hey. How'd you sleep?

perfectly my Queen, you?

Is there a place we can talk? Somewhere with a holo projector?

=She drifts off into thought...=

=She sees the figure again. The figure gets closer, then dissapears.=

=She shakes her head.=

(Dormii)
Um...maybe? I don't really know.

=i see Laura shake her head=
Hey, you okay?


(Lana)
Perfectly, my king.

=His decent becomes quicker and quicker. He tries again to comm the Trophaeum, or any nearby Comms units=

Well, if we have to, my ship has a place we can talk.

=I wave in the direction of my ship=

@Dormii: Yeah... I'm fine.

=She notices her Comm unit beeping.=

(Dormii)
=my own comm starts buzzing=
Hold on, Jason.

=i put on my helmet and try to respond=
Hello? Who is this?


(Lana)
=i kiss him back and hug him as well=
I love you too Kurbis...

=Silaev's pod slams into the side of the rockey hill nearby. Smoke rises from the crash, which is visable from the Trophaeum's hanger. He is knocked out cold on impact, and sustains many broken bones, including several ribs and his left leg. He lies there in the dark, unconcious and bleeding=

(Dormii)
--A pod seems to have landed nearby. It was not a soft landing--

(Meanwhile, on the Comet)

=The Comet prepares to jump to the planned base planet, in the oposite direction of Recon-S1. The engines rev and the Ship goes into Full Lockdown=

--We are going to want to hurry. It appears as though the occupant may not be awake--
=i pick Laura up again and start heading to the grav lift=
