how much time had passed?

I stand up, wobbling a little. I look around wondering "where am I?"
I begin to observe my surroundings. Everything was metal, or something of a similar molecular make-up. It had lines through it, energy streams? Perhaps a power source nearby. I look more closely at the walls, floor, and ceiling, more of the glowing lines. Constantly glowing, but giving off no heat. Strange, whatever they are traveling through must insulate far better than any man-made insulator. I walk back into the room a had awaken in, nothing on the walls, just a giant cube. Feels like I'm just a rat in a maze.

Well, my home town on Arcadia was under attack. I was 15, one of your soldiers, I don't know if it was a grunt or a Jackal or an Elite or what, but it shot a few of those pink needles at me. A few impacted with my back, puncturing internal organs and such. I didn't even feel when they were lulled out, I was just convinced I was going to die. I maintain that feeling to this day, so when it finally happens, I'm ready.
