=i head to the hanger, and climb into a Pelican, taking it over to the Repent=

The Ship comes out of the second slip-space jump, the Dragonling had been asleep for some time, breathing slowly, and deeply.
I check my Utilis to see if anything new popped up. I had four thousand seven hundred and eighty three messages. I guess it's been awhile since I've checked my mail, or for updates. I had Sophia go through all the messages marking which ones were important and bringing them up so I could read them. We drifted in space while I read through the messages. One was a formal invite to a ball.

huh.

that was a first. Well, in past one hundred years it was a first. I've been invited to Balls before, for charity or other reasons. But after by 153rd birthday, i stopped getting invites. Probably because I was older than everyone at the party, and probably because the children who were running it only knew me because I worked with their parents. and their grandchildren barely knew me because I worked with their grandparents. So I wasn't surprised that they stopped sending me invites. But now, who could know me? who could remember me? Someone must've been digging around old files and found one with me in it, with no death date. That must've been weird for them. I can only imagine what the conversation came up as:
"Hey, I found a file of a man born like 273 years ago, but it has no death date?"
"Really? Does it say where he was born?"
"yeah, Transylvania, Earth"
"Well that's imposible, how could you live to be that old?"
"Well, I'll send a message to his E-mail, or whatever, maybe you can ask him yourself."
"Ha! That would be weird, "hey mister, how did you live to be so old?", do you really think I would ask?"
"Well, only one way to find out."
"did you send it?"
"yep, now we wait"

I replied, saying: "Thank you for the invitation, but I'm afraid I must decline, I've got to deliver something to a planet, and I'm not sure how much time will pass on earth while I'm travelling. I hope you understand. signed: Dr. Nikolaus Oehlberg"

Maybe they would understand, maybe they wouldn't young people are always so odd when it comes to things.

I read through the rest of the messages and replied to some, and ignored others. There were a lot of invitations from ONI-cells talking about research and things. I politely decline, of course.

After that little distraction, I prepped the ship for Jump, made sure Matt was comfy, and commenced.

=i land in the hanger, and start walking around. Eventually, I see Grace sitting down against a wall. I walk over and kneel down next to her=

Yeah..It was the yelling and the footsteps.
