Chapter 8 NAME "Shit Happens" Part 4

=I look at the nurse=

"When can I get outta here?"

Fuck it, I'm checking that swamp out...

Tera staggered to the nearest door, with Zuno on his back. He attempted to open it although it appeared to be jammed. Tera lay Zuno back on his seat, before quickly going back to the door to try and open it. The cockpit had now become very smokey and it was incredibly hard to breath. Tera rammed himself up against the door multiple times, in a desperate attempt to open it, it did not work.
Tera then staggered over to the controls and salvaged what working controls there were. Many controls were damaged and beyond repair and others barely worked.

Tera, with what he had, tried to salvage the door controls. It was hard to do as the cockpit was very smokey.

"Zuno...(Cough)(Cough)...How you holding up?"

He knew that Zuno, was in a bad shape, but it was very lonely, and cold inside and he wanted to feel secure. He had managed to salvage the door controls, he walked over to the door and put his hand on the mechanism that now worked, the door opened. Tera picked Zuno up and went through the first set of doors.

=I found myself leaning against one of the small buildings inside of the camp. There were a few buildings, including a barracks and a bar. I just kept waiting for the Guard Captain to, well appear. I had to keep moving, so I didn't get spotted. And well, I nearly ran right in front of the Guard Caprain. How could I tell it was the Guard Captain? He had a fancy helmet. And, well, I thought it was time for a good old fashioned kill. I kicked a nearby stone into one of the buildings, making a 'Ping' noise. And as expected the GC walked over. I slowly made my way behind him, pulled out one of my throwing knives and... Grabbed his head and slit his throat. (There was a thin layer of leather connecting the helmet and Armour). I backed away, and hacked into his comm. And there was indeed a second channel. Thankfully, it didn't have a 'speaker unit', so I could just do a quick hack.=

*Speaker 1*: Get the second group down here.

*Speaker 2*: Okay. They'll be here in five minutes. They'll be arriving via Warthogs, guards, so no need to shoot at any vehicles.

=And I now knew what I had to do.=

Tera slowly moved through the smokey wreckage, he felt it taking a toll on his body. He lay Zuno against the wall, whilst he attempted to open the next door. The Phantom seemed a lot bigger than it did in the air, which was a bad thing, not a good thing.
It, like the others, would not open. Tera left Zuno there and he walked back to the cockpit to open the next set of doors. He heard Saal and Kilo on the comms, he did not have enough energy to respond to the call. He just continued on and hoped that they made it out of there alive.

I looked outside the windows of the ship. Calculating where every tower, barracks, and other important structures were. I heard Locklear in the background talking about him going to talk to the leaders of the base for clearance. I looked at him, and nodded. We opened the ship, and walked out, seeing a squad of guards just playing cards. We walked up and asked for the commanding officer.

=the commanding officer was already there, playing cards. He stood up=

*Lt. Wilson*
Yes, is there something you need?

Locklear: I wanted to ask for Clearance to the rest of the Planet. I think you've searched us enough. Most of us have only done minor crimes.

He glanced at me.

Locklear: Only a few of us have done anything major.

I wanted to give him the finger, but that could wait. I just wanted to get off the fucking ship.

*Lt. Wilson*
Well, we have searched you. And you're not really that much of a threat compared to everything else. Alright, you're free to leave. However, I must ask that you leave your weapons here. You can carry a side-arm like a pistol if you want, but make sure it's concealed. There are civilians here. Also, while you are free to explore the cities, please note that you will be expected to follow our laws. No theft, fights, or damage to property. You can defend yourself, but only when attacked. To get from city to city, just use the teleporters. They're easy to find. Just step inside, and say the name of which city you want. Osea, Emmeria, Yuktobania, Thulionum, and Cherlium, are the only cities on Haven.

=As soon as the nurse had given me the all clear, I had retrieved my gear and began to jog towards the swamp. Somehow I knew where it was.=

About a klik south of here... then I'll rest easy...

=I paused when the ground got softer. I began to walk more cautiously.=

Looks like Silver Light was right... they're-

=My thought stops as I hear a scuttling and reach for my SMG without pause.
I scan the area with my VISR active,which shows nothing, and begin walking slowly deeper into the swamp.=

Locklear: Our guns? Damn, alright, make sure they are safe. Dragon, go gr- Forgot you can't talk, nevermind.

He ran into the ship, and came out with a few crates of weapons. "All of our stuff." He saluted the officer, and ran back to the ship. Told his men to start it up. And we went skyward. I sat down, I saw Rei take out her signature SMG. "Concealed, right Draggy?" I smiled, took out my sidearm, turned loaded a clip in. "Hopefully we won't have to use em" said Hammer. "For a explosive expert, you rarely want to use well.....explosions." Said Rei.

(Silver Light)
=While I had other duties to perform, I devoted a small amount of my run times to monitoring the human known as Fatet. His claims to see Flood were worrying, though the only logical explanation on what was happening was a severe hallucination, a possible side effect of the inhalation of Flood spores. While the spores were dead, it was possible that some of the Flood DNA had already combined with his, at the same moment it died. Most likely, it made him a.......hybrid, of sorts. But, this was all theory, as such a case had never occurred before=

(Dormii)
=I returned to the docking yard but left my weapons in it. I wandered off to find a restaurant, or at least someplace where I could eat.=

"What are you doing?"

I'm going to go eat, deal with it. I need energy and sleep in order to function, or did you forget about those things?

=I heard a growl and Dormii Mali shut up=

(Fatet)

=As I walk through the swamp, something gives way under me and I fall around 10 to 12 feet underground.=

Shit!

=I stand up and brush myself off.=

Could've been worse I suppose, I could've died...

=I look around a little Then I realize where I am.=

Is this a...hive? Holy crap I was right after all...

=I back away towards the entrance hole and start to climb out. Thankfully there are plenty of tree roots and rocks jutting out of the dirt.=

What was that? Shit...I dont think I'm alone...

=I activate an open comm channel.=

"Silver Light, If you hear me I was right! Theres a fucking hive! Its UNDER THE SWAMP! Do you Copy?"

(Silver Light)
=Fatet's warning did alarm me, so I scanned again. Sadly, I did not find any trace of Flood cells underground. Even so, I sent a team of four Sentinels down to his location=

I looked outside after about an hour after leaving.

Overkill:"What city's that commander?"
Locklear: "Osea."
Overkill: "Looks forerunner."
Rei: "You would know."
Overkill: "I fucking would"
Locklear: "Shut up both of you. We are landing, don't separate, keep in twos."

Everyone nodded. We landed on a ship pad, and got off. We were told to just use teleporters, and that our ship would stay there. I walked around alone, basically saying fuck you Locklear, and looked around town.

=He retreats to the back of my mind as I enter my ship=

=I plug Diana in and prep the ship=

Diana:=relieved= Finally. Now I can breath again.

=She sees me downcast=

Diana: You okay, Matt?

@Diana =irritated= Not now. Just check the systems and set jump coordinates.

Diana: Was it Viktor? Do you want to talk about it.

@Diana =tired= No I don't. Prep the ship and take it into orbit. We can talk later.

Diana: Alright. =Ship fires up= Drives are up. Orbit in 10 minutes.

@Diana Alright then. Wake me when we're in orbit.

Diana: Copy that.

=The ship takes off and I go to my bunk to rest=

Tera had opened the last door via the Phantom's controls. He rushed back to Zuno had picked him up, they forced there way through the open doors and got out, to which flames and fuel greeted them.

=I found a place to eat and sat down, ordering some food. I only ordered a small meal, since I didn't have any money on me. After I ate I negotiated with the manager. If I managed to find him some rare foods and stuff on any planets I visited, he would get rid of my now newly created tab. Afterwards, I went back to the docking yard and fell asleep in the ship. I had used teleporters to get from a city to the docking yards, so all in all, it didn't take too long=

=The three of us: Miranda, Molly and I, sat in the bridge of the Serenity, as the ship passed through slip-space. Truth be told, there wasn't really much to look at in the alternate space. Mostly, it was all black, except for maybe a flash of indigo light, which even then was barely visible. For the next fourteen hours, we journeyed without any real incident. Well, other than Miri having bad dreams, but that was to be expected. After all, she did just kill her former teacher. Anyway, we were nearing Haven, maybe thirty minutes out=

=steps closer, towering above him (cause' he's 10 and a half feet tall)=

A risk you say? no, a risk would be if i decided to implant a virus into the main system....

=As I see the sentinels, I relax slightly, and taken a closer look at the hive.=

Thank god... I think this Hive's dead...

=When I finally climb out of the hole I sit on the ground to recover, because my gear was pretty heavy. The sentinels fly lower and I realise something's wrong.=

They're flying pretty low and fast...

=When the sentinels reach me they fire their beamsat me
I lie on my back to evade the beam, but it gets my left arm,slicing through the armour and searing the flesh underneath.=

Shit!

=When they have passed I draw an SMG with my uninjured right hand and fire at the middle sentinel. As it goes down it hits the one on its' left, causing it to crash.
I comm Silver=

"Silver! Your sentinels are shooting me! What the fuck is going on?"

Tera found it hard to travel through the flame and wreckage of the Phantom, but was relieved when he did so. He had carried Zuno the whole way. In the distance he saw the rest of his squad. Saal and Kilo quickly rushed over and made sure they were okay. Tera had told them that Zuno had been unconscious throughout the whole journey, they seemed worried so they took him over to the medic, Kyno who asked what had happened.

"We crash-landed and when we hit the surface his head smacked against the control panel, his chair pinned him against it. He has been unconscious ever since"

Kyno looked towards Tera.

"Let us see here"

What are you talking about? Those Sentinels did not fire on you.

=I promptly got back into bed, wondering if anyone would answer=

=It was a few minutes before we entered Haven again, and another 15 before we set down at our personal landing zone. The second I landed, I sent a message to Silver, asking for a brief recap of events that had passed. Only one thing was alarming: Fatet was suffering hallucinations, a possible side effect of the Flood DNA in his system Jeremy wanted to see me, but other than those two bits of news, nothing special=
Alright, have Fatet detained, and brought back to the hospital. I'll be down to see Jeremy in a few minutes.

Xxan had recently ordered a tactical retreat, something was happening to their troops which was not registered as K.I.A. He sent out a team to find Paarthurnax and his lance, some of his lance was recovered but he was not. Tera and his squad went down with their ship, no further contact has been made and his Supreme Commander was critically injured as well as twelve Zealots dead, in battle.

"This war has been a failure, I have let so many warriors die, this should not have happened. Call the Special Operations Commander, I want a entire armada of Covenant Destroyers to glass this filthy, wretched planet"

One Field Marshall approached the Admiral and asked him about his orders.

"Sir I hate to say this, but you do not have the clearance to do this without the Prophets say so" the Field Marshall spoke

Xzan looked at the Field Marshall uneasily.

"Clearance, I do not need clearance I am the Imperial Admiral of the Sangheili Crusading Spirit Fleet, and you are telling me I need clearance?"

The Admiral clicked his fingers and three Honor Guards appeared.

"Take this idiot to the prisons, keep him there. Understood?"

The Guards nodded and took the Field Marshall to the prisons.

I won't leave... I merely want to collect information

=I headed down to the armory, and got my Combat Skin on, then exited the ship for the teleporter. I stepped onto the pad, and a few seconds later, I was sent to the Osea Hospital=

=the dreams I dreamed were nothing new. Planets burning, people dying, blood flying. Laughter. But this time, it felt more real. More alive. More like it was ME. I freaked out and tried to run, but everywhere I ran it was following. I woke up to a sweat and the flash of a blade before I realized what was going on and where I was. I arm blade was out, and I was still in the cockpit of my new fighter. My hands were shaking, and I had to try in order to get my arm blades to retract. I climbed out of the cockpit and walked off, trying to find a familiar face to talk to=

And and and and (just a small glitch) why would that be?

=I exited the teleporter in the small courtyard outside the hospital. It had become, unofficially, the main entrance to the hospital via teleporter. I walked inside, and was directed to Jeremy's room. I knocked on the door, waited a few seconds, then walked in=

Tera and his squad made their way into the city center, Zuno, who was still serverly injured, was still being carried by Saal. They had recently taken refuge into a nearby petrol station, or gas station.
Tera made sure the area was clear, before heading back off of his patrol and to the petrol station. He quickly went to sleep.

"Beep" goes the heart monitor as Nicholas lay in bed, in the hospital, his mind wandering. He was in critical condition, though you couldn't tell when you looked at him, he was near death. He had three IV's in him, he was always hungry, and the doctors had no idea why.

The IV's had nutrients in them, but Nicholas still had to eat, because they weren't enough, nurses had to come in and massage his muscles to prevent them from atrophy. All the while, he never spoke. Just looked tired and ill-at-ease. He wouldn't speak to anybody. Nobody knew where he came from, he was not one of the refugees. He had not come from any of their planets that were destroyed. Though he was recognized as being a medical student. No one knew his name. No one knew how he got to Haven. The details were scarce and lacking. His medical history was unknown, his name, his allergies, he was unknown. The hospital did what they could to keep him comfortable. But they didn't know what was wrong.

=I was back on the Serenity, trying out the new armor. Truth be told though, I felt that the cargo bay was not really the best place to test the armor, so I commed Silver Light=

What's that?

The "Arena," is a special area located near the Combat Skin Hall. It was designed to allow wearers to properly test their new Combat Skins, through a series of tests tailored for each wearers skill. If you'd like, I could transport you there.

(Miranda)
Sure, that sounds fine. Just give me a moment first, let me get some things together.
=I packed up a few bottles of water and some oat bars. When I was done, I commed Silver, and a few seconds later, I was sent to the "Arena."=

Tera sat with his back against the wall, listening to the surrounding wilderness. He looked to his warriors and saw them sleeping, whilst he was guarding. Tera smiled and looked away, and then gathered his things. He stood up and walked to the door, there was a few hours until dawn so he left them for a while and went outside. He mounted his Needle Rifle on his back and walked along the road, until he reached the inner city entrance.

Tera loved exploring.

=Once the golden light had dimmed enough, I took a good look around, and was in awe at what I saw. I stood in the center of a massive arena, bigger than any human made stadium in history. By my best guess, it was maybe......several thousand meters, maybe hundreds of thousands. Got to hand it to the Forerunners: they certainly liked to build big things. Maybe it was to compensate for something else, I don't know. From what I could see though, it was all flat, except for a series of raised platforms near the walls, which I took to be seats or stands=

Uh, Silver. How am I supposed to test the armor out in here? I don't see anything to actually use.

Ah, yes. the Arena responds to commands. It will build an obstacle course for you. Simply open the menu on your armor, and select what type of course you would like.

(Miranda)
Oh, okay......
=I couldn't see any chin controls in my helmet, so I went on the assumption that I had to think a command=

=The second I thought that command, my visor filled with a selection screen. There were hundreds, maybe thousands of different obstacle courses. I thought of one meant for beginners, or at the very least low level users. Around me, the Arena's ground shifted, and pieces slid up from the ground, forming the obstacle course. Hard light became walls and raised platforms, as well as bars, stairs, ceilings........by the time it was done, what was once an empty arena had become a massive course=

Holy shit.
