Chapter 8 NAME "Shit Happens" Part 6

(Miranda)
=I leaned over, and kissed him on the cheek=
Don't worry, it'll be fine. I'll make sure no one can trace the messages.

=I got up, and left for the bridge. After a minute in the elevator, I walked over to the comm station, and hailed Silver Light=
Hey Silver, it's me, Miranda. Listen, I need access to the super-illuminal communications array. Jason wants me to call on some contacts I have, try and find information on who tried to have me killed.

(Silver Light)
=I was in the Control Center, monitoring Haven, when a call from the Inheritors ship reached me. It was his mate, the human known as, "Miranda"=
Ah, greetings Miranda. Hmm, yes, I can grant you access to the communications array, though sending messages would put our location at risk.

(Miranda)
I know, but Jason has given me clearance. Besides, the guys I'm contacting are discreet. They won't try and find me, unless I tell them to.

(Silver Light)
Very well. Relay the messages, and their coordinates, I shall handle the rest.

(Miranda)

=I typed up the message. It wasn't anything specific, at least to any one person. As for the coordinates, I attached a list to the message, and relayed it to Silver=

(Silver Light)
=Once the message was received, I scanned the coordinates, and sent the message to each set once the comm relay was ready=

(Dormii)
=i check another room, this time finding someone. I quickly cut them across the stomach with a swipe of the spear, which in turn, knocked them towards the door. I kicked them up to a standing position and stabbed them with my arm blade, the blade going through them, and the door, and out the other side, somewhat coated in blood=

(Al)
=I keep looking, literally so close....=
Is that a....sword in the door? Thats it you pulled the last straw.
=I move to where the door is facing me.=
=I unload three shells into the door.=

(Dormii)
=shotgun rounds blasted through the door. I withdrew my arm blade, letting the now shredded body drop to the ground in a bloody heap. I moved back from the door, and waited. The small flail on the end of my spear jingled softly, as did the other mace-flail and knife-ring=

(Al)
=I reload my gun as I see the blade withdraw.=
Still alive, good.
=Shoot another shell then kick the door in.=
=I stay outside, fearful of the blade.=

(Jessie)
=I moved at a high speed to try to get there before its too late.=
=I pass by a couple marines on their way to help deal with the killer.=

(Dormii)
=i duck away from the shot and move out of sight of the door, all the while my weapons jingling softly=
UNSC.

=i ready my spear, intent on killing and bloodshed. I was almost craving it, needing it. I fought back those feelings as best I could, remembering why I was doing this, why I was getting revenge=

(Jessie)
=Comm=
"Al, where are you?"
=Going down a hallway.=
(Al)
Gotta be quick
"I have him in a room... Do you have reinforcements?"
=Staying vigilant=
(Jessie)
"You found him? Yes I do have help. Where are you?"
=I turn a corner then found the medbay entrance. This place is so unknown its annoying as Ill get out.=
(Al)
"You know just hanging outside a hallway watching...."
=I cut off knowing he can hear me.=
(Jessie)
"Ok, almost there."

Paarthurnax ran into a room, another Spartan, this one calling for help. Paarthurnax leapt over the Spartan's head and landed on the other side, spiralling across the floor. He equips both of his swords and enters his warrior stance. He notices Dormii to his left.

"I'll kill you where you stand!"

He spirals his swords around, threatening the other Spartan.

(Dormii)
=i notice Paar, but pay no attention. This is my mission, mine alone. They did this to her. They caused this to happen to Jay, somehow. I had to exact revenge. I remember the Banshee Scream. I access the program in my armor and ready it, not yet triggering it=

(Al)
F*ck....Which side is this Elite on? If I had better weaponry....
"I wouldn't be so sure alien, you have a bloodthirsty killer inside there. I'd be watching him If I were you."
=Loads shell.=

(Jessie)
=Turns another corner, now in a long-ish hallway.=
=Sees lone man standing at the end.=
=Comm=
"Is that you? I think I see you, just hang on a little bit longer."
=Normal voice=
"C'mon marines, double time."

He continued to wave his swords around.

"You take one step closer and I'll take your head!"

He stood his ground, defending what he knew.

(Dormii)
=i trigger the Banshee Scream, low, but still high pitched. A soft, yet shrill, scream flies through the air, into the ear of anyone nearby=

Paarthurnax drops his swords and falls to the floor, holding his ears. He starts screaming extremely loud at the sound of this. He knew how to block it, but he had neither the strength nor willpower to block it out this time.

(Al)
=I'm taken abroad by the screeching sound.=
=My back hits the wall as I scramble about, one hand on my helmet and the other clenching my gun.=
"Son of..."

(Jessie)
=Instinctively I grab hold of my helmet even if it didn't block it out.=
=I fall to my knees.=

*Marines*
We scream in pain, fall to the floor. Our heads aren't nearly as protected as the Spartan's were.
We couldn't even keep our weapons in our hands.

He looks up, barely opening his eyes and he could see Dormii, Dormii had done this. He tried to block it out, best he could.

"Why..."

(Dormii)
=i cut the Scream and move over to Paar=
Ultionis....

=i jog out of the room, delivering a knee to the stomach of the nearest person, a Spartan. I jog the other direction from a group of Marines. I could've killed them, but I wasn't going to risk Paar in a crossfire. I needed to get alone, to a spot where I can fight without fear of collateral damage=

Paarthurnax grabbed his swords before slowly getting up and clearing his ears, they were aching. He had listened to Dormii, vengeance...
He wasn't entirely sure what was going on, either way, Dormii was his friend, if they went after him, he would kill them.

"Excellent..."

Atlas: Alarms had gone off within the station.

Dante: Not my problem.

Atlas: Don't you think you should at least check?

Dante: Atlas, it is not my problem. If they can't take care of whatever the hell it is. They have failed their duties and hey. If whatever it is kills them all, then we have our own refit station.

=He sits back in his chair=

Dante: It will be fine.

Atlas: I am still not too certain of this.

(Al)
=Once it finally was over and I put myself back together a dull pain invades my stomach.=
=I flinch just long enough for him to pass me, I look to the group of fallen people.=
"Hes getting away! Don't let him escape!"
=I look to the Elite.=
"I'll handle him."

Paarthurnax saw the Spartan, who was facing towards him, clenching his fists. Paarthurnax smiled, before lighting up his swords. He re-entered his warrior stance.

(Miranda)
=Once the message was sent, I went back down to the crew deck. Jason was still sittingat the table, reading more reports from a data pad=
So, what's the news so far?

(Jason)
=Without looking from the data pad=
Well, those trade ships we sent out have returned, with a very large amount of livestock.

(Miranda)
Finally. I was afraid we'd spend the rest of our lives eating salads.

(Al)
Hes smiling? Little bugger must enjoy fighting, I'll give him what for..
=I enter the room then sidestep to the right, firing a shot towards him.=

(Jessie)
"You heard the man, lets go catch ourselves a rogue!"
=I was pumped, ready for battle.=
"Follow me!"
=I run after him, gun ready. I wouldn't use my sword we're trying to keep him alive.=

*Marines*
We stand up, grab our weapons and follow the Spartan Shouting at us.
Some of our ears are bleeding and some of us didn't bother to get up.

His visor comes back as he evades to the right dodging the shot, the human fired a few more as Paarthurnax sliced them in two, ninja reflexes much. He charged towards the human throwing a few lazy lunges as he fights his wounds and his tiredness at the same time.

(Al)
=I barely try to dodge his weak attempts to harm me.=
=I move to the right, ducking under a swipe.=
"You call yourself Sangheili, ha!"
=I deliver a quick puch to his side with my free hand.=

(Dormii)
=i turned a few corners, killing the hapless engineer or civilian or got in my way. I left the hallways behind me splattered with blood, bodies left behind in crumpled heaps, blood pooling beneath them. I entered the living quarters, and ducked into a room, waiting=

Paarthurnax ignored his comment although he knew it was true, he was tired and weak. He threw a few more lazy lunges, nearly hitting the Spartan, he hobbled around a few more. The bullet wounds were hurting as he moved around. He started to attack with both swords now, hitting his armour slightly, he was slippery.

(Al)
=I barely move out of the way of a swing.=
"That gotcha goin -"
=I roll to side to avoid a decapitation.=
"See, now your at your best or at least....your best in your current condition, Elite"
=I avoid him.=

He continues to throw swipes, them now getting more accurate. He goes for him again before stopping. His chest starts to hurt, he drops his guard completely, going off balance and nearly falling over, his hearts started pounding, faster and faster.

(Jason)
Yeah, I know. For now, we're just unloading them, and putting them in a temporary location, until more permanent facilities can be made.

(Miranda)
=I took a look at the data pad=
We have facilities for fish?

(Jason)
Erm, kinda. Right now, we have some ideas of using the engineering labs here on Haven to increase the fertility rates of the fish, and then release them into appropriate habitats.

(Miranda)
Wait, increase their fertility? We can do that?

(Jason)
Normally, no. But here on Haven, with the technology the Forerunner used, it's possible.

(Miranda)
=I chuckled a little=
When did we start playing God?

(Jason)
Yeah.....well, we might fix it, once the fish population is at a stable enough level. Hell, there's plans of doing the same for most of the livestock as well.

(Al)
"Hm, you should've just went to the medbay but you stayed, why?"
=I come closer to his collapsed body.=
"What makes you stay with him, Elite?"
=I stood over his body now.=
=I kick away his swords.=

"He saved my life, he took me under his wing and he brought me back here to get patched up. Him and I fought side by side, we were brothers!"

He tried to grab his swords, but he could not, the Spartan had kicked them away.

(Miranda)
=That made me blink=
Really? There's that few of them?

(Jason)
Well, the current level would be fine for a standard settlement on a new colony, but we've got almost 5 billion people here, with a billion per city. That's a lot of mouths to feed, and the livestock we have right now won't last very long if we start distribution tomorrow. We need a way to increase their numbers first, in a way that won't pose a health risk to our civilians. Thankfully, Forerunner sciences in this field are quite adept at things like this, so we should be fine.

(Al)
"Interesting....a sense of brotherhood, hm. You might be useful...."
=I grab hold of his back.=
"You better behave if you value your life."
=I lift him up, put his arm around me.=
=Comm=
" I have something valuable of his. Tell him to come to the medbay if he wants him back."
=I have no trouble carrying the Elite's weight as we head to medbay.=

(Jessie)
=It wasn't hard at all to follow him, the trail of blood he left was big.=
=We were ready for him when I was commed =
"Fine.....I'll tell him...."
Well this sucks, I got all pumped up and everything. Al's the boss.
=I motion for everyone to stop.=
=Open Frequency Comm.=
"I know you're there, Dormii. And we have your friend, if you wish to see him alive again come to the medical bay."
=Cuts the Comm.=
"Everyone be on the lookout, we'll keep looking for him."

(Dormii)
=I heard the comm, and sent my own, instead using my external speakers. I broadcasted a short, but loud, burst of the Banshee Scream. It went a longer ways, and would hurt more, but I didn't intend it to incapacitate, only startle and frighten. I tapped intothe station's systems to access the map and find the medbay. I started to head there, going the longer way around in the hopes of avoiding any Marines=

(Al)
=A familiar screech echoes throughout the halls, it doesn't sting like before but brings my sore ears a light throb.=
=The Elite doesn't struggle much, odd, he obviously has much trust in him.=
=We move at a decent pace, we weren't far though.=
=The medbay doors open and doctors come to his aid.=
They take him to where ever it is they take him.

(Jessie)
=The noise yet again breaks the silence causing us to hold our heads.=
=Once it ends we get back up but some of us...disagree.=

*Marine 1*
Why does this keep happening? Is this some type of sick game?
*Marine 2*
I don't know man, But I've seen what it can do...
*Marine 3*
Is this thing even human?
*Marine 2*
It isn't, I wasn't sure at first but I'm certain now. Its a banshee

Not possible, they don't exist, do they?

Think about it, that thing has all the traits of one, the scream, the shredding, the stealth

F*ck it, I'm getting out of here, anyone else joining?

(Jessie)
=Astounded by how imaginative they got.=
"...No, Its not a banshee you idiots, its human. A human Spartan. And no, nobody is leaving. Hes around here somewhere just follow the bodies."

(Miranda)
Oh, good. At least now I know that my next steak dinner won't have me puking from an overdose of chemicals
=I sat down next to him=

So, what now?

(Jason)
Now? Now, we wait and see if any of your contacts comes back with any leads. In the meantime, let's just relax for a bit. With all that's been going on, we could use a break.

(Dormii)
=i made my way towards the medbay, continuing to try and avoid a large group of Marines. Unfortunately, I run into a group of them setting up an HMG down a hallway. I didn't give them the chance. I through my spear, the flail end trailing through the air, and watched as it intersected the sternum of the Marine lifting the MG up onto it's mount. The momentum stuck him to the sandbags, yelling. I ran forward, and started cutting and stabbing with my arm blade before anyone could figure out what was happening. I sliced across one Marine's neck, causing blood to fountain out of the wound, and grabbed his buddy in a headlock. I speared him through the side, the blade exiting out the side in spurt of blood, and then twisted, throwing the quickly dying man into his friend I sliced before. I skipped forward, taking a few shots from a rifle, and smashed the Marine's head against the wall with my foot, crumpling his helmet in a shower of blood and gore. I quickly pulled my spear out of the still living Marine, causing him to scream louder in pain, and hurried off again towards the medbay, the knife-ring and various flails jingling=

(Jessie)
=Screams echoed throughout the halls, it sends more fear into the marines so much it makes one yelp.=
=I sprint towards the screams, the marines have to go top speed to keep up.=
The screams are getting closer and closer, we're so close.....poor guys
=I abruptly stop when I see the scene....=

(Al)
=I grab a doctor's arm as he runs by.=
Doc, I need your help to patch me with the ships A.I.
Why?
I need to get reinforcements for what's coming.
What's coming?
Hell

After about two minutes he appears.

Have you found him?
Yes and hes coming. We'll need mounts and men quickly before he gets here.
Good, Ill set you up with two mounts and fifth-teen men.
If...If he manages to escape with his buddy lock down this sector. We need him, hes highly valuable to catching the others
Others? Who is he?
I've identified him as Dormii Fortuni, hes part of a group of Spartans who went rogue about a year ago.
Who else? And how many?
I don't have time to explain everything. Just get the files off of O.N.I. just make sure you get those men here.

The hologram disappears

(Jessie)
=Marines stop behind me at the gruesome sight, one vomits over ti the side.=
=There's a live one in the mess, hes the one screaming.=
=I rush to him.=
"Who did this, nevermind, I should know. We're going to get you help, ok. just hang in there."
=Hes stopped screaming, stopped breathing heavily, stopped breathing at all.=
"This never should've happened.."
=I close his eyes then continue the chase.=

(Dormii)
=i near the medbay, according to my map. I slow down, and place my feet gently, so as to reduce sound. The loudest objects on my person are the knife-ring and the various flails with their chains. I listen carefully, trying to find out what's going on. I holster the spear-flail on my back, and draw the knife ring in my hand, the small blades jingling against my armor and each other as I creep up into the area=

(Jessie)
=We keep searching, through rooms, halls etc.=
=The jingling stops, radars show nothing. We're looking for a needle in a hay stack.=

(Al)
=Comms=
Jessie! Where are you?! You were suppose to get here forever ago. You might've caused us the mission chasing him!
J- You never told me too
A- I thought last time I contacted you It was implied, guess not.
J- look, I'm right on his tail just--
A- No, come here, let him come to us, I have a plan.
J- Alright Fine, I'm coming
=Comms Cut Off=

The men are on they're way, maybe about two minutes.

(Miranda)
=With a sarcastic tone in my voice=
Oh, bite your tongue Jason. God forbid we ever catch a break, and have a nice quiet day to ourselves anymore.

(Jason)
=That made me laugh=
I know. We just can't seem to get any peace around here. It's always emergency this, pissed off enemy that, and in between it all.......I've been trying to arrange the wedding.

(Miranda)
=My heart rate may have sped up a bit, but my voice remained calm=
Really?

(Jason)
Yeah. So far, I think I've got it all figured out....except for one critical, fatal flaw.

(Miranda)
What's that?

(Jason)
Well, this is awkward, but I have no best man.

(Miranda)
What? As in, no best friend to call upon to hold onto the ring?

(Jason)
Yeah.........we could always just do something plain and simple though. I mean, no need for a big ceremony.

(Dormii)
=i check a side room before i get to the medbay, someone, a nurse probably, is in here. It looks like he is getting medical supplies, drugs mostly. Maybe some relaxants. I don't know. I didn't intend to find out. I quickly moved up behind him, and ran the knife ring along his back, the many blades rippling and slicing his shirt and back to bloody ribbons. I spin around him and impale him up into the jaw with my arm blade, silencing him before he could scream too much. I knock him off with a small flick and check up on my location. Still two hallways to the medbay. I spun the knife-ring over my head to "wipe" off most of the blood, which just ended up splattering most of it around the room and my armor, and then proceeded to head off, resuming my creep up into the medbay=

(Al)
The reinforcements arrive finally, I instruct two men to guard The Elite's Room, five men and a mount to guard the entrance near the room.
Two men with me, the last four and the mount in the hallway going to the Elite's Room.
"That should do it. Now we wait for either Jessie or Dormii...."

(Jessie)
=Surprisingly We were farther away, I had gotten lost. I had no idea where I am and the marines needed a break.=
Everyone, take a minute to relax we're sitting this one out."
=I was incredibly embarrassed.=
How could a Spartan, a elite warrior get lost?!
=Comms=
"Al, I'm not going to make it there in time, we're way off in another direction. You're on your own."

(Dormii)
=i creep up on the main hallway that leads to the Medbay, I check my motion sensor, and see movement, a lot of it. I tap into the local systems, throwing decoy intrusions everywhere to try and throw off the AI from locating me, and upload a song into the broadcast system in the Medbay=



=i wait for the song to start playing, before moving up on the main entrance=

(Al)
My men wonder on how the music starts they look at they speakers. "No, pay attention, obviously a trap."
Everyone stays vigilant, watching anything that moves. "All non-armed personal please head to the back for safety reasons."
Interesting choice of music...but why?

(Dormii)
=i open the main entrance, and am greeted by a hail of gunfire. I quickly jerk back to avoid being shot, and try to think of a way to get in without being killed. I slowly move away from the door, and think, looking around for a secondary way in=

(Al)
"Dammit, we're suppose to capture him not kill him. These are just used as insurance so he doesn't kill us and to 'help' him surrender."
"Hold your fire but don't let your guard down."
=In a almost yelling voice.=
"Dormii, surrender and no-one gets hurt. I've told my men to cease fire its safe to enter."

He thrust his fists forward, trying to escape the power of the Doctors and the Marines, there was a lot of them holding him down, he wasn't sure what they were doing.

"ARGH!!!"

He let out a scream as one of the Marines smacked him around the face, dismaying his visor, a sign for him to stop. He noticed the music, this gave him momentum, he kept trying to overpower them, failing however.

(Dormii)
=i waited for the song to stop before talking through the speakers of the room=
Silentium...

=i continued to stalk along the edge of the room, looking for a second way in=

(Al)
I try to contact the station's A.I. but it fails oddly enough. I can't contact anything, looks like we really are alone.
"Come on out Dormii! Or we'll start cutting off his fingers one by one."
I know.....this is a heartless tactic but he needs to hurry the hell up.
