HRP Second Story Chapter 1

I land lightly, before moving towards two as I follow my instinct to fan out.

"You did that on purpose..."

I whisper quietly, so only she would hear it, before I take my position and crouch, aiming my weapon at the more likely places for the covenant troops to come.

"Yeah, no problem."
I look over and watch the Dusk Squad members descend from the beam. I look further down into the black abyss.
Yup, can't wait.

=I look at Two and then shut up=

Better mind her temper, then...

=I bring up my rifle as I move with the team=

I felt a tap on my shoulder, I guess we had arrived at the camp in the city. It was a long drive but I barely got any shut eye. It was 10 minutes her some there, it was hard with the rain that felt like it easn't going to end. I guess you can say it's metaphoric for the war. I could hear Marik getting out of the hog, in moved my head slightly to get him in my view.

"Alright Seven Echo we will be here for the remaining stag. Until I have further order make yourselves cozy. Eat, rest, washup. Our tents will be on the east side of the camp."

I could hear the other groaning as they got out of their warthogs, they must feel the same way I do. I headed to get some grub before I went to my tent to sleep. Through the shade of rain I can see other Echo units arriving.

I guess we need everyone here.

I looked at Matt and he nodded.

"I'll see you later Dante."

I watched as he jogged away to do his own shit. I was too tired to care. The only thought on my mind was where that savory smell was coming from.

With a sigh I begin walking out on the beam. It starts bouncing under my weight with each step.
I make it to the rope and begin to climb down. I hold the rope loosely so I can slide down. If I didn't have gloves on, this would burn like hell.
Once I get close enough to the ground I grip the rope tight so I'd slow down. Then finally land on the ground with a soft thud.

I back towards the fence, before passing underneath it. At the other side, I pull the part Two was holding through, allowing her to pass under.

I gesture to Three and let him slide under along with the Spartan before climbing under myself. It was muddy and horrible, and once I stood back up, I had to wipe my visor a little bit. I point to Two and the Spartan and gesture to the nearest building before moving there myself with Three.

Sierra. Do you see us?

=i looked around, and spotted the squad in the scope=
I see you, Two. Hold up. Scanning for enemies.

=i zoom out and sweep the area, making mental notes of where every thing is=
I have two sleepers, and one sniper currently in your area.

Alright. You tell us when to move.

I cut the feed and turn to my squad.

On Sierras mark. One by one we move to that building there.

I point to the building I mean.

Four. You're up first.

I re-open the line.

On your go.

=i watch the sniper, and wait for it to turn around. I fought the urge to blast it's head off, but that would only bring attention down on everyone=
Move. Quickly.

I take a deep breath, and sprint towards the building, slipping on the wet surface but righting myself with my hand and carrying onto the building.

You're clear. Standby.

=i keep my eye on the sniper, waiting for it to move back behind a piece of rubble=
Next up. Go. 10 seconds.

=I feel Two give me a push, and I sprint=

Huslte Mike, hustle...

=I then get into position behind Four, making sure my rifle is loaded=

Now...let's see how long we can remain undetected

=I keep watch as the rest of the team catches up=

=the sniper comes back=
Hold. Sniper watching.

=it seems like an eternity, but finally the sniper moves again=
Go. 15 seconds.

I look down to where she had kicked me then back to her. Of course it didn't hurt in the slightest bit but...
Oh well. I run as quickly as possible and making it over to the other Dusk people.

Wait. Standby. Standby...move. Fast.

=the sniper turns=
Stop. Hold position. Standby. He's watching.

Collins was alone, he lost contact with his squad a little over a hour ago and was roaming the wet streets of this city. His SMG was down, his hands gripped the foregrip and handle tight though, ready for anything that decided to pop out in front of him. His hands were a bit shaky as well. His mind was trying to make him think it was the cold from the downpour, but it couldn't have been.

He soon ducked under a building, the wall was blown out but it still stopped the rain for a moment. Pulling a radio out of his pouch, he looked it over. It wasn't broken, and luckily it was dry. He held it up to his mouth and hit the button, the static came on and he spoke into it

"This is PFC. Collins. I'm uh...stranded...say the least. I lost contact with my squad over an hour ago and haven't heard from them since. Is anyone else out in this fucking city, over?" He said into it before putting it down. Hearing something crash he raised his gun and backed into the building a bit more.

Okay. Move. Quickly. I don't know if he'll turn back anytime soon.

I scramble back to my feet and close the rest of the distance.

Lets avoid anymore close encounters. Where are we going next Sierra?

=i check the building=
Up one floor. Through the overpass. Down. Then you should be right there. There's a sleep right outside that final door, but you know how they are.

"I have point."

I whisper into the squad frequency, and slowly step into the building, following the spartan's directions.

Hand signs only from this point on. Keep us updated Sierra.

We enter the building one by one slowly. I gesture to Ethan to proceed up the stairs and follow closely behind him.

I move up the stairs slowly, clenching a fist as I near the top, halting the squad as I scan the room.

I gesture for them to follow again when I see it's clear and move towards the overpass.

I look in dismay at the large windows.

Shit.

I lie flat, and proceed to crawl under them, after signalling the others to do the same.

Understood. I'm on overwatch.

I keep crawling even after I clear the overpass, just to be certain I don't stand up next to a hidden Elite or in front of a window. I freeze, seeing an elite staring out of the window.

Even with a silencer... It could alert the others.

Instead of engaging,, I shuffle backwards, silently, to alert the others.

I signal it out to Dusk Two, praying she understands.

=I crawl back a bit, a feeling of fear washing over me=

Keep cool Mike...keep cool

=I look forward, seeing if I could spot anything=

=I move forward, passing the dead body=

Well...that works

=I continue on, looking for further enemies=

I follow two, retaking my position as point man. As I pass the sleepers, I skirt carefully around them, to avoid waking them, before stopping at the one furthest away.

I wait for the others to get into position, before snapping the little bastards' neck.

I slowly move towards the building, drawing my knife as I approach the last sleeper.

I plunge the blade through it's skull, killing it.

I take cover at the door, clearing the room for hostiles. Clear, I step inside and wait for my squad.

=I head in with my squad, stepping over the dead Grunts that were in our way=

Can't get much more silent than that...

=I then swing around moving as I watched our six=

I look at the injured civilian.

He looks like he was interrogated... Covenant bastards...

I move to his cage, and start to pick the lock, with the intent on patching him up a little.
