ZRP-2: Brave New World

Brook looked over at the Sheriff and then at the map. Not being the nosy type, she dismissed it and walked up to him shyly and carefully. "Yes.. i was wondering if I can get some supplies? and possibly a bed? i won't be a bother.." She was obviously very nervous when talking to the man, whether it was him or she was just nervous in general couldn't be seen from the outside. "But if I am not allowed, i will be on my way." She turned her head to the door expecting the boot to kick her out.

=I put on a silly grin=

I don't doubt it either.

=I look to Miranda=

And besides, Mira kinda turns me on with that rifle of hers and...DidIreallyjustsaythat?

=I shut up and turn bright red as Miranda gives me a dirty look=

*Marcus*
"Well, we've got a general store across the street that has some food and supplies, though you'll need to trade something of equal value for them. We've also got a local inn that should still have some free rooms. But if ammo is on the list of supplies, they're not in the general store. They're under lock and key somewhere else."


(James)
=I couldn't help but face palm a little=

"Thank you.." She said and turned to leave quickly so she could go and trade and possibly sleep. She went over to the general store and searched through their items. She ended up trading 3 knives for a simple short sleeved shirt that she would wear to bed. She nodded at the person and left to go over to the inn, walking in the middle of the street made her feel uncomfortable, like there were people watching her.

=I face palm and try to shake it off=

Sorry 'bout that. Anyway, I think we'll get better equipment than we have right now.

=My face is still red, even as Miranda's expression softens=

Real smooth, Andrew...real smooth...

"Men" Hibiki and Mira said in unison.

Eve blinked, the cat purring louder.

=I look to Miranda, an apologetic look on my face=

Sorry about that, Mira.

=I smile, my face still red from embarrassment=

Brook approached the inn and looked at a woman who was their and had a revolver which was nice and shiny. "Hello.. How much is it to rent a room for the night?" She asked, looking at the inn.

(James)
=I looked at Hibiki, a little hurt at the remark=
"Oh that's a bit unfair. When's the last time I publicly embarrassed you?"


*Marge*
"Depends. What have you got to trade for a room?"

"well, I have knives.. A machete.. Ammo.. I have my vest.. I don't have much." She sighed. "I'll just go." She nodded to the woman and turned to leave. She didn't have anything to trade the woman for a room and she wasn't going to beg.

Hibiki rolled her eyes. "Just now."
She sighed, smiling.

Eve just blinked and moved closer to Sam. "What's going on?"


Mira playfully slapped his shoulder. "Don't do it again, or you get the floor."

=I raise my hands in mock surrender=

You have my word, not again.

=I give a silly grin=

(Sam)
"I have no idea Eve. James, what's going on?"

(James)
"Just some good old stupidity Sam."

Brook wandered around the town for a while, checking out the area to see if she could help anything and saw a group of people all gathered. She shrugged and figured they were just talking, so she continued to walk, away from the group.

Eve blinked.
The cat purred.

Mira facepalmed.

Hibiki facepalmed. "Let's get back to work."

=I sigh=

Yeah...let's get back to work.

=I look to Mira=

Because I'm not looking forward to sleeping on the floor anytime soon.

(James)
"We'll, most of the work is already done really. I guess it comes down to a vote: wait until tomorrow, or leave now?"
=I looked from person to person, waiting for a response=

=I look to James=

I say move out now...waiting would just give the Shepherds an advantage.

=I rub my chin in thought=

And the faster we move, the better chance we have at beating them.

(Jason)
"Agreed. Though I doubt the Shepherdbwill attack the Elites, not yet anyway. Those guys tend to have the better weapons."

I take notice of a small gathering of people. Three women and two me, I hope. And since they're standing near the entrance they might know where the guy is.
With a bit of nervousness, less then that of the talk with the sheriff, I walk up to them. One question in mind.

"Hey, uh, sorry to interrupt. But would any of you know where a James Martin is? Or seen him?"

(James)
=When I heard my name called, I turned to look at who had spoken. He was a teenager, brown hair, but fairly tall by the look it. Maybe my height=
"Yeah, I'm James. Why are you looking for me?"

"Oh, you're James? Thatmakesthiseasier. Uh, Marcus sent me to see if the job is still open. And if I could take it."

(James)
"The job? Why are you interested in the job, when you don't even know us?"
=I wasn't being rude, but I wanted a sincere answer from the kid as to why he wanted to join up with us=

Well, this situation changed quickly.

"I um. I'm looking for something to do other then wander. And you seem like a good cause. Why not join?"

Yup, trying to be vague. Even when I have no idea what I'm getting myself into...

(Jason)
"Kid, you don't even know what we're going to be doing. Why join that?"

"Well, if you would tell me what you're going to be doing. I could answer that question."

(Jason)
"We're headed to an Elite compound to barter for supplies, and maybe get some help to form an army."

"Do you mind if I also ask what an army is needed for?"

I might be heading where I shouldn't be going...

(James)
=I eyed him suspiciously. So soon after learning Eve was a spy (even if she sided with us) I was allowed to be cautious with new people, asking questions=
"Why so many questions? If you don't want to be part of this, then just say it."

It was strange to be looked at like that. It gave me some chills, to be honest.

"I was just wondering. So I'm in then?"

(James)
"I'm not sure. Knowing this, do you still want to come along? Because I'll tell you this, there's no going back. We're going to be waging war, so ask yourself right now if you're prepared for that."

Against who?

But I now know better then to ask those questions.

"Haven't I been fighting a war for the last years?"

It was one of those questions that aren't answered, but are answers.

(Jason)
"Not much of a war really man. The last two years was nothing but surviving. Now.....now it becomes war."
=We were both wasting time, beating around the bush with these questions and quasi-philosophical answers. Now I needed to know=

"We're going to war against the Shepherds. Are you up for that kind of fight, and the risks it involves?"

"The Shepherds?! Those bastards? Hell yeah I'm up for it. But..."

I scratch the back of my neck. I forgot to ask Wrex what he thought. And Jennifer too.

Brook wasn't sure of where to go. All she had gained from this area was a shirt, and lost a few knives of hers. She sighed and went back to the group she had passed by before. As she approached she heard that the people there were fighting Shepherds and she wanted in. "Excuse me.." She stepped in. "I couldn't help but overhear you are going to attack the Shepherds? Cause if so, i would like in if that's alright."

(James)
"But what?"
=Before he could answer, someone walked up to us from behind him. She was roughly my age I think, and looked a lot like Hibiki. From the looks of things, she was also armed, and she just asked to join us=

"Uh, I appreciate the offer ma'am, but if we take him..."
=I gestured at the nervous kid=

"We're barely going to have room in the cars we've been cleared to take."

She nodded and looked down at her rifle and machete. "Do you need ammo and or a gun? I can give it to you." She seemed sincere and willing to actually lend them her rifle for their mission.

(James)
"We have ammo and weapons......though honestly I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't mind having an extra gun along. I might be able to grab at least one more car for this trip, but if I do...."
=I looked from the new girl, to the nervous guy, and back to her=

"I want to be clear, I, Hibiki..."
=I gestured to Hibiki=

"And Andrew..."
=Gestured to him=

"Are in charge. You follow our lead, and our orders....... I promise, we'll be as polite as possible."

"I understand. I'm not afraid of taking orders, just tell me who you want me to kill, where you want me to go, and what you want me to do and I will do so the best I can." She nodded and looked over at the nervous looking kid. She flashed a smile his away and looked back to James. "I'm Brook by the way.. So it's easier for you to command or whatever." She looked down at her feet and kicked the dirt.

(James)
"Well, welcome to the group then Brook. You already know it, but I'm James. This is Hibiki, Eve, Andrew, and Miranda."
=I looked to the nervous kid=

"What's your name by the way?"

"The name's Tyler. But you could also call me Seth if you prefer."

I look at the new girl, Brook. Wait, who am I to say new? She looks nice anyway. Then I look back to James.

(James)
"Well Tyler, I suggest you get prepped. Gather your gear, and wait over at the inn for now. We're going to put it to a vote soon on whether we leave today or tomorrow."

"Well that depends, have you all had time to rest? If so we should leave ASAP, if not then we should all have a good night's sleep." She voiced her opinion and shrugged. "Just my thoughts."

"I'm ex-SWAT, so I know what I'm doing." Hibiki informed them.

Mira was silent.

Eve was snoozing in the back of the truck, the cat still on her head, still asleep.

(James)
"Well, I'm honestly good with waiting until tomorrow morning to leave. Gives us the rest of tonight to prepare and get some early rest."

(Sam)
"Same here. I vote for tomorrow."

"We all need as much rest as possible." Hibiki said.

Mira took Andrew's arm.

Eve murmured in her sleep.

"Meow" said the cat.

"Then I will vote for tomorrow. Give everyone a decent night's rest and then we attack tomorrow. it makes sense."

(James)
"Well, looks like a unanimous vote for tomorrow then. Let's finish up here, make sure we get the supplies loaded up, and then head back to the inn for some rest."

(Sam)
"But....I just got outside."

(James)
"Sam, I'll help you load the stuff in the trunk."

"Need me to help load the stuff up?"

I offered to James. But I had been silent for the vote because I didn't care which.

(James)
"Sure thing Tyler, that would be great. Sam, lead on. Anyone else want to help, feel free to join up."
=I followed Sam as she led us back into the warehouse=
