ZRP-2: Chapter Two, Paradise in Hell

Getting the zombies away from the ally would be simple enough. But it'd certainly be a dangerous job. Abel began feeding shells into his shotgun's tube.

(James)
"Okay, here's what we do. All of us take the street on the far left, and once we get to a far enough corner, Sam and Eve head around and towards the walkers. The two of you will need to get their attention, and I mean really get their attention. Don't start running until you're sure the majority of the horde is coming for you."

(Sam)
"Let me guess, and then we lead them to the corner where you guys are waiting to take them out?"

(James)
"Pretty much."

=I unsling my rifle and load the 100 round beta mag=

It's foolproof.

=I then gesture to myself=

Well...almost foolproof

(James)
"It still has risks. We have no idea how many more walkers are further down that way, and if there are the gunfire is sure to attract them. So what we do, has to be fast."

(Sam)
"Got it."

"Sounds like a plan."
Abel stepped forward, from his usual outskirts from the rest of the group.
"So, how about we do this while we're all still young?"

Eve nodded. "I nderstand."

Hibiki sighed softly, flicking the safety off and checking over her rifle.
Time to go kick ass and chew bubblegum.

And the world was all out of bubblegum by now.

(James)
"Okay then, let's move."
=Cooper started walking again, leading us to the left wall. No walkers at this one, which I was rather thankful for-- having to shoot any walkers on this side would attract more to us before we were in position. There was a small gate, built into the wall, probably part of the original evacuation plans; inspect the civilians for signs of infection, then let the uninfected through. And it was wide enough for a wheel chair!=

"So I guess you'll hang back Cooper?"

*Cooper*
"Pretty much. I'll give the all clear to the demo team, and they'll move in once the pressure's off."

Hibiki nodded. "Don't get yourself killed, Cooper."

The man merely smirked. "Gonna take a lot more then the u dead to take me out." He said.

=Cooper opened the gate for us, the key on a ring of other keys, and we all passed on through. When we were all through, the gate closed behind us, and we were now truly on our own=

(James)
"Okay, let's go guys."

=I can't help but grin=

If it's one thing I know about Cooper...he's one tough bastard...

=I head after James, racking a round into the 416's chamber=

Right behind you, man.

Eve squeezed Sam-s hand tightly, then drew her bow. "So. I demand a date. A quiet, nonviolent, romantic one at that." She said, her voice with a small amount of joking in it. Eve was keeping herself calm and focused by making a small joke. Well.
Mostly calm.

Hibiki kissed Eve's cheek and gripped Sam's shoulder before heading off to the ambush point.

(Sam)
"Heh, I expect roses...."
=Honestly, I was just expecting us to come out alive=

(James)
=We all went down three blocks, until we reached the corner of the third block, and turned the corner. Then before we reached, the end, I had us stop=
"Okay, Sam, Eve, you're up."

"Then I want some form of kiss, and you got a deal."
Eve smalled softly, then went....scary professional.
"Ok James. I'm ready."

=I grinned slightly as I thought of a joke=

Maybe I could give them a bit of raw meat to give the walkers some motivation...

=I keep my grin, keeping my little joke to myself=

(James)
"Just remember, get their attention, nothing fancy like getting up close. Make some noise, attract the bulk of them, and lead them back here. We'll deal with the rest."

(Sam)
"Got it James."
=Gone was my happy, casual appearance. I soon entered my calm, cool mode, the SMG from James cradled in my arms. I walked around the corner, and headed for the horde of zombies at the end of the street=

Eve ran after Sam.

Hibiki took position on some high ground.

(James)
=I took one look at Hibiki, perched on top of a car for some elevation, and chuckled=
"Sure, rub it in that I have no high ground."

(Sam)
=We didn't look back, as we jogged down the street. The moans and groans of the horde were becoming louder and louder, and I came to a stop at a blue mailbox. Waiting for Eve, I got out the gun, taking aim=

=I take position on a patch of high ground, flicking the rifle off safety=

Let's hope Mira doesn't shoot me by accident...

=I shake my head at the thought=

Yeah...that would be a bad way to go...

(Sam)
=In a hushed voice, I spoke to Eve, hoping she heard it over the moaning of the walkers=
"Okay, now."

=With that, I pulled the trigger, firing a short burst, the sound reverberating across the street, and the bullets tearing into the head of one of the walkers=

Eve let an arrow loose, taking another walker out. She fired four more arrows into the throng.
"I think we got their attention."

=I heard the braaap... of the SMG, and my grip on the rifle tightens=

That's our cue...

=I move my finger close to the rifle's trigger=

(Sam)
"One can hope...."
=Most of the horde turned to face the source of the noise, and it soon became clear: we had their attention. They all started to shuffle forward, towards us, a single mass of bodies determined to eat us=

"Okay I think we can run."

"No 'only got to outrun you' mentality, or I'll bring Nightshade instead of roses "
Eve turned to run.

(Sam)
=Not even bothering to ask her what that meant, I broke into a quick jog. The goal wasn't to lose them, we had to draw them out, towards the trap and this pace was the best way to do that=

(James)
=Cradling the SPAS, I got ready to unload into the hoard when they would come=

Eve kept pace with Sam, bow replaced on her back.

Hibiki tightened her grip. "Please be safe."

Abel took a position standing behind a car. His shotgun raised to where the zombies would show from.

=I switch my rifle to full auto, waiting for the horde to round the corner=

Alright, boys...let's dance...

=My finger hovered over the trigger=

(Sam)
=I chanced a quick glance behind us, and sure enough there was the horde in all their hunger coming for us. It sent a panic through me that made me speed up, as we got to the corner=
"Now!"

(James)
=Sam and Eve rounded the corner, and a few seconds later so did the horde. I fired the first shot, the SPAS roaring, and one of the walkers heads just exploded=

Eve saw Hibiki, and smiled. Her flying hand found Sam's, and she sped up as Hibiki opned fire, just spraying bullets at zombie head level at full auto because fuck it, HOW COULD YOU MISS WITH THAT MASS OF UNDEAD FLESH?

=I take a deep breath, and then squeeze the trigger=

God...I haven't felt like this since I was 16...

=I keep firing at head level into the horde=

Well...fuck it...

(Sam)
=Turning, I got on one knee, P90 in hand, and squeezed off more shots, taking more of the walkers in the head. And still they kept coming=

(James)
=Shells flew from the side of the gun as I fired off round after round, blowing their heads to pieces=

Crack... pump... crack... pump...
Shot after shot, Abel dropped zombies in the streets. If he didn't have a clear headshot, then he'd hit the creature in the leg causing them to drop into a slow crawl.

=I keep firing until the gun clicks, the beta mag out of ammo=

Hot damn...it's like a shooting gallery.

=I then load thirty round mag, and continue to fire, grinning like a schoolboy=

(James)
=The horde kept getting closer, even as more fell. It was starting to get cramped here=
"We need to fall back! Let's go!"

=Placing the SPAS in my lap, I gripped both wheel and started to wheel myself backwards=

=I pull back with James=

Right behind ya, man.

=I fall back, firing back occasionally to keep them back=

Eve started to pull Sam back, bow held in a tight grip.

Hibiki stayed on the car, covering the others.

(James)
=There was a loud boom sound, muffled a little from the buildings, no doubt Clarissa's men sealing the hole=
"Okay, distraction is no longer needed. Let's run like hell people!"

(Sam)
"What he said, move!"

=I sling my rifle back over my shoulder=

Don't need to tell me twice.

=I follow, running like a bat out of hell=

"Making sure you heard him over the gunfire!" She retorted.

Hibiki kept firing, waiting for Sam and Eve to get past the card.

(James)
=Not surprisingly, they all ran past me, not even giving me a second glance. Hey they were running from a horde, instinct took over: not about outrunning the horde so much as outrunning the guy next to you=
"Uh, are we forgetting something?"

Eve tugged Sam past James as Hibiki dropped down behind James.
"Next time save yourself." She said, pushing him forward quickly.

=I look back and sigh=

My goodness...

=I keep moving, my mind focused on staying away from the horde=

(James)
"Hey I was saving myself......I'm just slower now is all."
=We rounded the corner, and the wall was in site. Cooper stood by the gate, ready to open it once we were close enough=

"Let's go!"

(Sam)
=I let Eve guide me, too pumped on adrenaline to actually focus=

"Don't get shot. You realize how bad my hormones are when pregnant, right?"

Eve led Sam, nearly sprinting towards the gate.

(James)
=It was kinda comical, arguing with her as she pushed my wheelchair as we outran the horde of zombies=
"You want to have this discussion now?"

(Sam)
=Most of the adrenaline wore off enough for me to hear James and Hibiki arguing, or at least verbally sparring=
"Time and a place you two!"

=The irony of that, was not lost on me=

=I yell=

Hey, get off your asses and book it...

=I sigh=

Your lover's quarell can wait!

(James)
"Get off my ass? I'm in a wheelchair you prick!"
=We got to the gate, and Cooper had the door opened for us. Running (in my case, wheeling) through it, he quickly shut the door behind us, barring the horde from entry. They still stuck their arms through the bars though, as they tried to get in=

*Cooper*
"Cutting it damn close there."

=I put my hand on my legs, panting a bit=

My god...that was a rush

You don't say.

=I wipe the sweat off of my brow=

"Sure."

Eve rolled her eyes. "I could start a similar discussion. Please focus on escaping impending doom."

(Sam)
=I bent over a little, panting deeply, eyes closed. The run was certainly intense, not just because of the horde. Sad but true, I was probably out of shape=

(James)
"Maybe not in public Hibiki? How about when we get back to our room."
=Before she could answer, Cooper walked over=

*Cooper*
"Good job. The team managed to seal the hole, and Clarissa is sure to take credit."

(James)
"Great.....so can we get some rest?"

*Cooper*
"Sure."

(James)
"Thank you......take five people."
