ZRP-2 Chapter 6: Scattered

"True James. Least we showed the bed who was boss." she giggled.

Eve managed a shy smile. "Hehe..."

(James)
"Honestly, no bed is safe from us. That inn, the hotel, the boat, and now here....."

(Sam)
"So, wonder if there's going to be a celebration tonight..."

"Maybe." Eve said. "...I hope the women I saved are ok..."

Hibiki laughed. "Not even a sleeping bag is safe."

(James)
=I grimaced a little=
"Eh it might be. I mean, not that I'm calling you fat, but those things can get tiny. Not enough room for the both of us to do anything. And it would get so hot in there we'd probably cook ourselves. Death by hot sex."

(Sam)
"I'm sure they'll be fine Eve."

Hibiki just cracked up. "Death by sex. I'd die like that any day."

Eve sighed softly, leaning into Sam. "I'm glad they all made it..."

(James)
'Ha.....I think I'd choose dying of old age with you any day."
=I let that sit for a moment, before shaking my head=

"Nah. Death by sex would probably be better....if a bit of a mood killer."

(Sam)
"And they have you to thank for it."

Eve smiled. "Breaking the rules sometimes ends up ok..."

Hibiki sighed. "Buzzkill, yes. But at least we can tell Saint Peter we went out in a way that Captain Kirk would envy."

(James)
"Why would that make Kirk envious?"

(Sam)
"Yeah, but just remember: if we ever get to a point where we can actually rebuild the old world......we're going to need those rules. And we'll have to follow them."

"A bridge fell on him." Hibiki said.

Eve sighed. "I know..."

(Sam)
"Cheer up Eve. I'm mostly kidding."

(James)
"Kirk died while having sex by being crushed by a fridge?"

"No you moron, a bridge fell on him and he died." Hibiki rubbed her forehead.

Eve smiled softly. "Ok."

(James)
"Oh. Well....you didn't have to be so mean about it."

(Sam)
"So, what next?"

"You didn't have to be sarcastic. I said bridge. How the hell did you get fridge?" Hibiki frowned.

Eve shrugged. "No clue."

(James)
"Sorry, guess I didn't hear you so well."

(Sam)
"Well......this is going to get boring fast."

Eve didn't know what to do, so she just rubbed her temples and poked Sam. "So. Either have fun now, or find something to do."

Hibiki just laid her head on James' chest. "I'll get a megaphone."

(James)
"Heh, that would make things interesting. Though, not that you'll really need it, eh?"

(Sam)
"Oh no, that won't happen until later."
=I suddenly felt the need to pee. Great...=

"Uh, I need to go to the bathroom."

Hibiki smiled. "Not that I'd need it."

"...There's some bushes over there." Eve said.

(Sam)
=I arched a brow at her=
"Are you kidding me? We have a house with a bathroom Eve. It may not be working, but I'll be damned if I don't take a piss on the porcelain throne."

(James)
"Then again, we would get complaints from the neighbors."

"Then get water to wash it down. I love you Sam, but that doesn't mean I wanna smll your urine." Eve looked back, arms crossed.

"I have two guns." Hibiki said.

(Sam)
"Not into that kind of thing huh. Oh well, okay."
=Now to solve the issue of getting water. Well, we had some bottles of water inside the house, but it seemed like a waste. At least, that's what I was thinking until the need to pee convinced me it was for a good cause. I left Eve behind as I ran inside and up the stairs to where we had stashed the bottles in our bags, and then headed for the bathroom, closing the door behind me. The rest....well, use your imagination=

(James)
"We're trying to be good neighbors."

Hibiki laughed again. "I'm a good neighbor? Where did you get this funny misconception?" She stuck her tongue out at James.

Eve laid on the couch to wait.

(James)
"What, you want to be on bad terms with everyone next door to us?"

(Sam)
=After I finished, I left the bathroom and headed back down the stairs. Eve was laying down on the couch, apparently relaxed. I considered using the distraction to slip out the back, but then I remembered what she did in St. Louis when I just went to grab the truck. And that was when we hadn't even been a couple. That was when she was pushing for us to be a couple. Imagine how bad it would be if I tried backing out now=

"I'm pregnant. I'm lucky I'm not on bad terms with everyone." Hibiki joked.

Eve yawned and rolled over - right off the couch. She faceplanted the floor.
"Ow..."

(James)
"Well it's not like you've been hanging out with other people really. Honestly it's just been Eve, me, and Sam that comprise your social circle."

(Sam)
=Well, that was comedy I couldn't resist. I burst out laughing=
"Couch push you off Eve?"

Eve sat up sheepishly...then held her arms up in Sam's direction.

Hibiki frowned. "And Marcus, and Cooper, Andrew, Mira, Sarah..."

(Sam)
=I still chuckled=
"Oh no, you don't need my help picking yourself up Eve."

(James)
"Really? Marcus and Cooper maybe, Andrew and Mira sure. But Sarah? Last time I'd have thought you'd both kill each other."

"She's like Eve. I pity her." The woman sighed. "She deserved better."

Eve pouted, then grinned. She got on her hands and knees and crawled over. Purring, she rubbed against Sam's leg. "Meow?"

(Sam)
=I backed away, a nervous look on my face=
"Eve.....don't ever do that again. Seriously, it kinda creeps me out."

(James)
"Maybe. But even then, she does a piss poor job of getting people on her good side."

Eve looked crestfallen. "I was just having fun..."

Hibiki shrugged. She had no answer.

(Sam)
"Eve....that's one method I'd rather you didn't try."


=Back at the gas station, Cooper and most of the caravan had stayed behind. While the gas and prisoners had been taken, they wanted to look around in the vehicles, check for anything else. Plus there was the station itself to check, in addition to the garage. Plenty of usable tools in there they'd need=

Pouting, Eve stood up. "Fine..."

(Sam)
=With a sigh, I wondered what was left to do. Honestly there wasn't much. Sad but true, boredom may very well be on the list of things you can die from in a zombie apocalypse=

Eve sighed, resting head on Sam's chest.
"Bored."

(Sam)
"Right there with ya Eve."

(James)
"So....guessing we just lay here for the next few hours?"

Backing up, Eve pokes Sam's belly.
"Tag. You're it." She moved out of reached.

"Sounds good." Hibiki said.

(Sam)
"Oh really, we're playing tag now?"
=I moved to tag her=

(James)
"Sounds.....boring."

Eve ran behind the couch and out of reach, giggling.

Hibiki kissed his neck. "Get some rest?"

(James)
"Maybe. Though I'm not sure how long that'll last."

(Sam)
"Get back here you!"
=I ran after her, attempting to get around the sofa=

Laughing more, Eve dodged around the other side, keeping it between them.

Hibiki decided to close her eyes. "Then wait till the celebration starts."

(James)
"If there's a celebration at all."

(Sam)
=Instead of going around, i climbed onto the sofa and started going over it to get to her=

She laughed, running around the table. She was clearly having fun.

"We can hope babe. We can hope." Was all Hibiki said.

(Sam)
=Before I could grab Eve, there was a knock at the door that drew my attention. Giving Eve a look that said "take a break," I walked over to open it. Marcus was outside=
"Marcus, hey. What's going on?"

*Marcus*
"Sam. Is James in? We need to talk."
=It was then that Sam noticed Clara standing behind Marcus=

(Sam)
"Uh, yeah sure just give me a sec."
=I turned to look up the stairs=

"James! It's Marcus, he wants to talk,"

(James)
"Called it. Get dressed."
=I got up, heading for the door=

Hibimi groaned, slipping on her pants and a shirt before padding after James, barefoot.

Eve sighed and plopped onto the couch to silently wait.

(James)
=Treading down the stairs, I soon saw Sam standing in front of the door, and outside was Marcus and Clara=
"Hey, what's going on?"

*Marcus*
"James. We managed to talk with the prisoners, the ones that...."
=He hast a glance at Eve=

"Someone managed to rescue. So far they're........okay isn't the right word. They're barely holding together. The wounds on their bodies will heal but their minds.....I just don't know."
=He sighed=

"However, we have the other prisoners, the Shepherds, secured. They're keeping tight lipped, but we're considering......enhanced interrogation."

(James)
"You want to torture them?"

*Marcus*
"I don't want to, but they may have information we can use."

Eve looked uneasy. "I...I'm going to visit the girls we rescued."

Eve slipped between Marcus and Clara, making to run off.

=Marcus beat James and Sam to the punch, reaching out a hand to grab the collar of Eve's shirt=

*Marcus*
"Not so fast Eve. I'm not that stupid; I know it was you that got them out. And I wanted to say thank you, both on their behalf, and from me. It was a brave thing you did."
=He let got, trusting her not to leave=

"However, I'd rather you didn't see them just yet. They were sleeping when I last checked on them, and after all they've been through, they more than deserve some rest. And privacy."

(James)
=I was a bit opposed to Marcus grabbing my daughter. But then again.....a) he wasn't grabbing her in a harsh manner, nor b) was he being mean about it=

Eve shrugged Marcus off. "Then I'll go for a walk. Either way, I'll leave the torture discussion. I don't need reminders of what the Shepherds do to anyone, especially children, when they want something."
Saying the last but rather viciously, Eve began to walk away.

(Sam)
"Eve!"
=Without giving the others a second look, I went after her. Besides, I didn't want to be part of this talk anyway=

(James)
=I shook my head, slightly agreeing with my daughter=
"She's got a point you know. If we stoop to torture, we're no better than them."

*Marcus*
"I know. And I'm hoping it won't come down to that. But they're bound to know something we can use."

Eve kept walking though, leading Sam around the house and down the street. She kept just out of Sam's reach, until finally she was at a tree.. She turned to see if Sam had decided to keep following her.

(Sam)
=Somehow, I wasn't surprised to see that Eve was headed for a tree. Big surprise though....=
"Planning to climb away from your problems?"

(James)
"And if they know nothing, we'll be torturing them for no reason."

*Marcus*
=His eyes took on a hard, cold look=
"Not entirely. It would make for decent payback for all they've done. I'm sure the women your daughter rescued would agree to that."

(James)
"Maybe maybe not, but if we do this solely out of revenge we'll be as bad as them."
