Chapter 8 NAME "Shit Happens" Part 4

Fuck you, ONI. Why can't you ever just leave us alone.

Ever wonder what happens when you fall asleep for a really long time? Well, you get tired. By that I mean you get tired when you wake up. You know why? Well, part of it is that your muscles have begun to atrophy for lack of use. Then theres the biochemical processes etc etc.

I woke feeling extremely tired. It was hard getting up. I didn't need to go back to camp. All my patients had died. The Captain knew that too. He probably had a feeling that he wouldn't be seeing me again. I sat at 'Alpha base' asleep for sometime, standing up was a chore. I didn't know what to do. I had had thousands of teachers teach me their craft and for what? our ship to land on some strange planet with forerunner buildings and stuff. For all I knew this was a forerunner shield world. now that would be something. But, if this was a shield-world, there were ways of finding out. All I had to do was not take the medication...It could theoretically cause such a unique disturbance that any nearby 'teleporters' would reveal themselves. It was in the doctors' notes after all.

Theoretically.

I could perhaps only take half doses, the electrical effect would still be somewhat present and show up as an anomaly. Well, as a good scientist once said: "nothing ventured, nothing gained."

= I glare at the guy who called me ONI =

"Call me ONI when I don't have a gun pointed at me and I'd slap that smug look off your ugly face"

= I turn back to my interrorgator =

" And you think I'm crazy enough to try and leave with covvies on there way here? Not a chance. Besides that blackbox was ejected when things went bad. And even though your rebels I want to help you, not coz I like or forgive you, its because I enjoy killing aliens, I doubt anyone here can say they've engaged a covvie spec ops squad alone and lived."

You kill one of my men, knock out one of my medical staff, and even now insult us and threaten my friend. What makes you think I want your help?

(Dormii)
=i extend my arm blades and press them against his neck=

=Xazhi continues sitting there in the rec room of the Eirav Wing, bored absolutely out of his skull. He decides to play a video game=

(Fatet)

= I casually push the blade away=

"Don't call me ONI in a room full of weapons or you might find your self with another arse-hole, so lower the blade, stop calling me ONI and we can be civilised about this."

= I turn to the other guy =

" You'll want my help because I know how to fight and kill anything. You want to protect non-combatants here? Cuz the covenant will kill anyone here even while they're fighting your soldiers and trust me, those zealots will be down here fast, waving around their energy swords."

=stops and asks a passing soldier for directions to the other's locations=

=i snarled at him and retracted my blades with an audible click, shing, and click=
You're brave. I'll give you that. But I have killed Spartans, ONI, you can't win in a fight against me.

=i casually waved the "SMG"=
And I still have this. So stop talking like you are my equal.

Well, my non-combatants are not even on the surface, so they're better where they are. There aren't any weapons here, except for what I currently have right now, and the armory will most likely lock up. And as for your help, even if it was sincere, what possible reason have you given me to trust you with a weapon?

=arrives at the main base and ask to see the others=

(Fatet)

=I laugh=

"I'm not your equal because you have a weapon... "

= I sigh =

" That shows alot about what kind of man you are, you know? And if you think the thing with killing spartans scared me, think again. I trained with spartans, all it takes is one mistake on the spartans behalf and its over, they are humans after all. And for the last time, I am not ONI."

= I look back at the other person=

"You don't have a reason to trust me and I dont blame you. But in my home town, if you break a promise you're not much of a man."

Oh, I just know I'm going to regret this.
=I narrowed my eyes=

Alright then. Despite everything you've done, which I admit is rather small in the grand scheme of things, I'm willing to give you a chance, to help us. However, there will be conditions, and I would like you to agree to them. For starters, you will have guards, watching your every move short of a shit in the bathroom. Second, you can have a weapon, but it's going to be a standard, magazine fed projectile weapon. If you do anything, that betrays me or my people, then you will have no second chance. I will give the order for you to be shot on sight, are we clear?

(Dormii)
You are not my equal because you don't have the same skill as me. You aren't what I am. You aren't a Viking, or even a Spartan. You are simply human.

(Fatet)

"Of course, but is it possible for me to have the two silenced SMGs I dropped with? I'm quite attached to them. "

= I think for a second=

" I dont think we introduced ourselves. I am Corporal Fatet Thurell, but every other soldier called me Fade."

= I look at the" viking"=

" No... I am human but what makes me your equal is that I am unafraid to die, now if you were better than me, you wouldnt be bragging to an unarmed prisoner that that very thing.

=i put my hands up in a mock surrender=
Most humans are afraid of death. It is easier to assume the majority, than the minority. And I wasn't bragging, I was stating facts. Name's Dormii Fortuni. If you've heard the stories, I am that Dormii.

You can have your guns, but the silencers will have to be removed I'm afraid. As for my name, I am Jason Shepard. I know, I don't really have a title or anything, but the lovable light-bulb that monitors this place calls me Inheritor. Then again, I am very close to something of a Commander here.

(Fatet)

" Im glad we can be civil about this, It would have been a pleasure, if we weren't ready to kill each other a few minutes ago."

Yeah well, you kinda arrived at a bad time. ONI kidnapped and tortured me, then attacked my home and people. Then next thing I know, another Prowler arrives, and you crash on my planet, and kill one of my men.......basically, you just had some really, really, bad luck.
=I lowered my weapon, but just enough so that if he tried anything, I could raise it fast enough=

=waits to be let into the base=

" I dont believe in luck, bad things happen to me for some reason, maybe I did something in a past life, or I just don't deserve a happy, easy life."

Well, either way, think of this as a type of......probation. Prove to me that I can trust you, and you will be allowed to either leave, or make a life here. No matter what though, your help will be appreciated.

(Fatet)

"Im at your disposal, Im trained to fight, scout areas, spot for a sniper or as as a basic medic. And I love to hate the covenant."

Looks like you'll fit in then. Now, I'll get you your weapons back. After all, they are currently locked up. After that, I'll assign some of my men to watch over you. Think of them as your probation officers.
=I turned, slightly, and headed for one of the doors out of the firing range=

So, shall we move on?

=got tired of waiting so he decides to head inside=

(Silver Light)
=I was monitoring the sensors for Haven, when an alert came up: a large mass was heading for the planet through slip-space. Upon closer inspection, the mass proved to be 250 ships, and they would be at the planet within the hour. I contacted the Inheritor=

Inheritor, the enemy fleet you warned of is coming. We have one hour, before they arrive.

=I was currently in the Command Tower with Dormii, Jeremy, and Fetet when Silver told me the Covie fleet was on it's way=
Awww shit. That doesn't give us a lot of time. Okay, contact the rest of the fleet, and tell them to take up positions between Haven and the invading fleet. Alert all ground forces, and have everyone man their posts. Get the new Sentinels out, and have them get in formation between both fleets. Have them spread out, so they won't attract to much attention.

(Silver Light)
Very well.


=All across Haven, and even in orbit, Haven's entire army and fleet mobilized. Sentinels swarmed out of the sky, and into space. The fleet, now 40 ships strong, had massed in a loose formation, outside the planet's atmosphere and gravity well. The new sentinels, rigged to blow as mines, moved at their fastest speed, for the space between fleets=

=sees the sudden activity and comms the others=

Yes. We have a plan, to counter the Covenant. We let the Covenant fleet get close enough, then send a small number of boarding parties. Once aboard, the teams are to access the Covenant battle net, so that Silver Light can get into their network, and take control of their ships, or at least the ship the boarding parties are aboard.

(Dormii)
Let me guess, lead a boarding party?

=gets no response so he heads back to his ship and has it start up=

(Jason)
Well, lead one of the boarding parties. You have more experience fighting the Covenant, than anyone in my entire army. You'll know how to fight the Covenant, on their own ships. Dormii, I don't mean to add more pressure for you, but this plan, may very well be the best chance we have at beating these guys.

(Dormii)

Don't worry, I'll get it done. I just need to get my armor and my weapons. My arma, preferably.

(Jason)
Understood. You'll meet your team, as well as the other teams, aboard the Silver Hawk. I'll have a shuttle set to take you up to it.

=Vera begins making preperations for the attack. All the ship's weapons were primed, and he was already in his battle gear. He went to the Hanger, and looked out into slipspace, hypnotized by the mass of color and light. He waits for them to exit=

=sends a message to jason asking if they need any help=

(Jason)
=I got the message from Zeru=
How in the hell does he know what's going on? I don't remember telling him anything.

(Dormii)
Is it possible to teleport me to my room on the Trophaeum? That's where all my stuff is. Well, my weapons, anyway. I forgot where I left my armor.

(Jason)
Technically, yes, so long as the Trophaeum is still within range of the teleporters.
=I checked the holo table, and scanned for the Trophaeum's signal. It was still within Haven's atmosphere, and still within range of the teleporters=

Okay, you're good, but since we don't know where your room is, we'll have to send you to the hangar. Is that okay?

(Dormii)
=i nod=
That works.

(Jason)
Okay, I'll send the shuttle for the Trophaeum then, and have it meet you there.
=I contacted Silver=

Silver, lock onto Dormii's life signature, and teleport him to the Trophaeum's hangar.

(Silver Light)
Very well.
=I accessed the teleporter grid, and locked onto Dormii's life signs. A few seconds later, I sent him to the hangar bay of the large ship known as the Trophaeum=

(Fatet)

" One question, can I join the boarding parties? I love it when the covvies have an advantage over me, spices things up. I also take every chance to fight shipmasters in the hope that I kill the ones responsible for New Jerusalem."

God I'm gonna enjoy killing these bastards instead of rebels for a change.

"Either way I'm gonna need my weapons. I'm pushing it here but... Can you see if you can fix my helmet? I'd rather not take a needle to the head."

(Dormii)
=i oriented myself and ran off towards my room. I picked up my arma and hooked each one to it's appropiate place; the flail-and-spear on my back with the flail up, the flails-and-mace on my thigh, the hook-cable-blade wrapped around my left arm (since my right has a few things in the way) with the forearm plate on my left, well, forearm, and the knife-ring on my left arm hooked under the forearm plate. I ran back towards the hanger, just to make sure nothing got in the way of my teleporting back, when I saw my armor in the workshop. I quickly ran in and put it on, taking the forearm plate off, and putting the arma back where they went, only on my armor and not me. After that, I set the forearm plate on the counter of the workshop and ran back to the hanger. I commed Jason=

All set. Teleport me back when ready.

(Jason)
=I commed Dormii=
Got it. Just call Silver, and have him send you to the airfield. The shuttle will be there.

=I turned to Fetet=
Okay, you're in. I'll have to assign the guards to join you and your squad. Also, unlike Dormii, you'll be under the command of the squads leader, understood?

(Fatet)

= I nod =

"I expect no different, just point me to my gear and squad."

(Jason)
Okay. You're weapons will be waiting for you over at the cell blocks, as will your guards. Once you have your stuff back, meet me at the gates.

Hey ,Silver, it's Dormii. Can you send me to the airfield?
