ZRP-2 Chapter 6: Scattered

(James)
"Yeah, no doubt about that."
=The town on the map was Mount Vernon. A little bit bigger than Old Shawneetown, which had me a little bit worried. Bigger meant more walkers. And more chances of there being bandits=

(Sam)
=We joined them out on the deck=
"So much for our little cruise...."

"I know." Hibiki said. She looked annoyed too.

Eve just came behind Sam and hugged her from behind. Her bow in her room, only her Beretta was present, as well as a knife. Her arm was still hurt apparently.
She snuggled Sam's back. "Where are we going?"

(James)
"Mount Vernon, town along the river. We'll run a sweep for supplies, anything valuable, mostly we need fuel for the boat though."

(Sam)
"So we just sick to the boats by the river, or any cars."

(James)
"Petty much."

Eve peeked out from behind Sam.
"And keep close to the shore for quick escapes?"

(James)
"Pretty much. Though Hibiki......I think, just to be safe this time around, you should get the bike ready. Just in case it hits the fan and we all need to scatter quickly."

Hibiki nodded. "So...walk the bike around with us? That what you mean?" She asked.

(James)
"Yeah. Just in case."
=We finally pulled into the dock, and I tossed the rope over and then set up the ramp, walking across to tie the boat down=

Rtriving her hike, Hibiki rolled it off the boat.
"Alright. Let's go."

(James)
"Mark, Trevor, stay with the boat. We'll be fine on our own."
=They nodded, and stayed behind while my family and I headed into town=

"We should probably split up, cover more ground."

(Sam)
"Yeah. I'll take Eve."

Hibiki shook her head. "No Sam. Just once, alright? Let her have some time with her dad. I need to bond a bit with my stepdaughter, no?" She smiled.

(Sam)
=I grinned sheepishly=
"Sure. Sounds good."

(James)
"Okay then. Come on Eve, stay close."

Eve nodded, pulling herself off Sam and sticking close to James. Hibiki waited until Sam was with her befor she started to walk the bike down the street.
"Meet back in two hours?" She called to James.

(James)
"Yeah."
=Sticking close to my adopted daughter, we went one way while Hibiki and Sam went another. There were a few walkers around, but we were able to outpace them=

(Sam)
"So.....is this the part where we have a talk about me and Eve?"

"Yep. It's the part. So talk." Hibiki answered. "I'm listening.

Eve waloed silently with James, unsure what to say.

(James)
"So, how's Sam treating you?"
=My gun was out and trained on the ground, none of the walkers dangerous enough to warrant its use=

(Sam)
"Well, we've kinda.....been taking it slow. But also a little fast."
=Nad without going into too much detail, I told her about how we were going......Cinemax slow=

"So, no real intercourse, just.....well, you know. Light touches, kisses, maybe a lick or two...."

"Sam...I applaud your respect. But don't forget she'll be wanting more. Go slow, but not too slow." Hibiki kept a sharp eye out. "And when you start biting, there better be no blood. Alright?" She grinned. "Anyways. Is she everything you need?"

Eve blushed. "She...she's treated me well...was hoping she'd treat me more...then we ended up...here." she said slowly.

(James)
"We'll, I'm hardly one to say you should take things slow. But don't rush into this kind of thing Eve. You both need to go at your own pace, or else there'll be a lot of trouble between you two."

(Sam)
"I'm.....not much of a biter really."

"A girl told me that once. Then she got caught up in the moment and left teeth marks." Hibiki rollled her eyes. "Anyways. Just treat her right. She needs it more then anything." Hibiki stopped, checking one tire. "Though, if you two do get caught up in a moment, put a sock on your doorknob."

"I know daddy...I...I just wanna cuddle with her more..." Eve replied.

(Sam)
"Heh, I'll be sure to do that."

(James)
"Nothing wrong with that Eve. I just don't want to see the two of you get hu-"
=The sound of gunfire cut me off, and I turned around, it was coming from the direction of the boat=

"Shit!"

Eve drew her gun."Is mommy ok?!" She asked out of instinct, entirely unsure what to say.

Hibiki kicked the kickstand down, spinning around to raise her rifle.
"The boat!"

(James)
"I don't know. Stay close, but keep quiet."
=I broke into a small jog, moving back for the boat=

(Sam)
"Please be okay please be okay please be okay."

Throwing her leg over the bike, she grabbed Sam. "Climb on. Arms around my waist." She ordered.

(Sam)
"Got it!"
=I climbed on with her, wrapping my arms around her waist=

(James)
=Eve and I rounded the corner of a building, expecting to see a group of walkers. It was worse. There were people, armed bandits by the looks of it. They had killed Mark and Trevor, already dumping their bullet ridden bodies over the side as they took the boat=
"Dammit no!"

=They heard me scream, and took a shot at me. The bullet whizzed by, missing me and I pulled Eve with me as I ducked behind the same corner=
"Fuck!"

Hearing the screams and gunshots, she took a corner.
"We can't go there. There's too many." She gritted her teeth. "They'll be fine."

Eve screamed, as James had yanked her back by the wrong shoulder.
She collapsed onto her rear, holding hdr shoulder. She managed only dry sobs.

(James)
"Shit, I'm sorry Eve."
=I got down to check on her, but we didn't have much time. Walkers were already starting to wake up, and we were the first thing they noticed=

"Come on, we've gotta move.ill carry you if I have to."

(Sam)
"What about the boat, all our supplies?"

"We have no advantage. We need to track the boat Sam." Hibiki turned. "Now. Keep an eye on he river."

Eve panted, waving him off. "We...need...to go."

(James)
"Can you walk?"

(Sam)
"I'll see what I can do."

"It's my arm daddy." She stood slowly. "I'll be fine."

Hibiki slowd down. "We might be able to ambush them. My rifle has a scope. Any little bit helps."

(Sam)
=As we neared the bridge, a decent ambush point, I looked down and saw the boat was moving. Whoever had her had untied the boat and was now moving=
"Uh....looks like they plan on leaving with the boat."

(James)
=Before I could assay anything, I heard a groan and spun, firing my gun into the nearest walker. There were two more=
"Come on, get up Eve! We've gotta move!"

Stopping, Hibiki gotmoff and leaned on the railing, rifle ready.
"Keep an eye out."
She breathed easy, waiting.

(Sam)
=I heard a faint splashing noise, and saw a few rippling effects in the water behind the boat. Then I saw the bags=
"They dumped our luggage?"

=Then the boat turned around, going back the way we had come. I couldn't see anyone out on the decks=

(James)
=Pulling Eve behind me as I shot at more walkers, we ran for it. We weren't that close to the center of town, but there were walkers appearing between us and the water. So we had to move away=

Hibiki frowned. "Track our stuff." She took aim at where the bridge windows are. "Cover your ears."
With that, Hibiki flicked her rifle to full auto and sprayed the windows with the entire clip before rushing backwards.
"On the bike, we need to grab our stuff."

Eve flicked her knife out. "Where do we go?"

(James)
"We need to get out of here first. Too many walkers around."
=The road ahead was mostly clear, filled with cars and more walkers, but we could make it through if we ran=

(Sam)
=I tracked the bags as they bobbed in the water, but at the same time I noticed how the boat seemed to be moving faster, speeding down the river=
"Uh, I think they're still alive."

"They won't come back." Hibiki said. "Let's go get our stuff."

Eve nodded. "I...I can run."

(James)
"Then run!"
=I kept pace with her, but we needed to move faster=

(Sam)
"Got it. What about James and Eve?"

"We can meet up later." She mounted the bike. "Get on."

Eve ran faster. "What are we going to do?"

(James)
"We need to get out of town. Sam and your mom will either meet up with us, or try and make a break for the lockdown town. But we should get out, head for somewhere out of this area."

(Sam)
=Getting back on, I got ready for a ride=

Driving off, Hibiki toom back streets, arriving back at the river. Stashing her bike, she led Sam down to the river.
"See our stuff? If so, go get it. I'll cover you."

Eve panted. "Daddy...my bandages...do you have any to change them out with?"

(James)
"Dammit.....yeah, but I need privacy for this. Too many walkers around."
=I searched as I ran, for a place to hide from the walkers, as well as to change Eve's bandages=

"There, quick!"
=I pointed for a bar, the door open=

(Sam)
"Great....."
=Spotting the bags, I jumped into the river and swam for them. If I did it one at a time, they'd be carried too far down river. So I had to gather them and slowy swim back. My arms and legs hurt, from so much hashing around=

Nodding, Eve turned to the door, opening it, pistol raised.

(James)
=When we got in,I shoved the door closed. The sound of thumping, banging, and moaning became clear as walkers on the other side tried to get in=
"Eve, get a chair!"

(Sam)
=I got back to shore, tired and sore. I was never a good swimmer, and because I spent so little time in a pool it was easier for me to get tired out=
"Just....just so you.....so you know, I don't think we're going to be able to carry all this with us."

Hibiki helped Sam get comfortable. "Just grab what we need. Underwear, few extra clothes."

Eve sat on a chair, then took her shirt off, covering herself with her other arm. "Tighten them at least. Change when we're not gonna die."

(James)
=I stared at her, dumbstruck for a moment while the door still jiggled as walkers slammed against it=
"What the fuck are you doing? I meant grab a chair for me to bar the door!"

(Sam)
"That makes it easier."
=Then I started opening bags. Most of the clothes were soaked, but I took them anyway, stuffing them in my own backpack=

Standing, Eve slid a chair over, but soon was forgoing modesty.
Blood was running down her arm by now. She tore something, and she stumbled against a table, in a lot of pain by now.

Hibiki grabbed some clothes for James and Eve, then all of her underwear, as well as a few more shirts for Eve.

(James)
=Barring the door, and locking it for good measure, I fell upon Eve, stumbling around with blood from her shoulder=
"Hold still, I have some bandages."

=Opening my pack, I got out some of the bandages. I didn't have a lot, so we'd need to use them sparingly=
"Hold still while I replace the old ones."

(Sam)
"We should be good to go. So lets move."

Kicking the stand up, Hibiki got ready to move.

Eve was crying a bit, holding still. It had to hurt like hell.
"I'm sorry daddy...just...it hurts."

(James)
"Shhh, it's okay Eve. I've got you."
=Removing the old dressings, I cleaned up the area around the wound and wrapped the new bandages in place=

"But we can't stay here, we've gotta move now."

(Sam)
=Climbing on behind her, I was easy to move=

Eve nodded. She slipped her shirt on.
"I-I'll be ok daddy."

Hibiki roars off.
"Where were we going again? Shawntown?"

(Sam)
"No. I think we were headed for Owensboro."

(James)
"Thats my girl. Now come on, we're going out the back."

Hibiki checked for signs, moving fast.

Eve nodded, then drew her beretta.
"Is mommy ok?"
