The Rise: A Post Covenant War Story: Mission Two

S bi looked to F'alas as he spoke, before looking back to the road ahead. He could hear movement, but could see no-one.

"It's possible, but they have not yet responded. I think it's something else..."

He sat there for a few more seconds, before readying his Plasma Repeater.

"Torix, how's thing looking on your side?"

"Clear S bi, what of yours?"

"Slight movement, we can hear it, but not see it."

"That's strange, somewhat extraordinary. We'll keep a lookout."

"As will we, good luck."

He peered across to F'alas.

"Be patient remember, also keep your eyes peeled."

He looked back and just remained calm, however it wasn't the humans, no chance. It was something else. He kept his weapon up and remained low. His heart beated fast, it got faster and faster as seconds passed. But all of them MUST be patient, it was vital.

^{Remember F'alas, take your time.}

F'alas heard S bi and tried to calm his nerves. It was working, but the footsteps didn't sound human...they were heavier, Insurgents? Perhaps. He remembered in the war, certain Brutes had obtained active camo generators, and were called 'stalkers'. He waited, readying his Focus Rifle.

S bi looked out of cover again and stared at the dusty hell infront. He thought about this area, the way Insurgents controlled it. He was quite afraid for a second, to think of how many controlled this area, and the thought of them coming down on top of the four Sangheili. He thought about this for a while longer, before brushing it away. A silly thought, it was most likely the wind playing tricks on them, or the Spartans.

He stood up a little before crouching back down, his back was aching.

F'alas kept hearing the footsteps, they circled around. He thought maybe the humans were playing a trick on them. He spoke to S bi, "What do you think the footsteps are, Brute? Demon? or Human?"

S bi looked to F'alas before getting out his Nano-Pad.

"It would not be Jiralhanae, due to the fact that-!"

Silence broke as he looked at his Nano-Pad, at the GPS Satellite which acted as a huge motion tracker.

"Fuck! Prepare yourselves!"

S bi slid his Nano-Pad back into his utility before standing up.

F'alas jumped up, weapon ready, scanning the area. He asked S bi, "What's wrong?!"

S bi looked across to F'alas before looking back.

"There are hundreds of targets on the motion tracker."

He looked back as Torix and Quna also got prepared.

"All forces engage Camouflage!"

His cloak slowly initiated until he was covered completely.

F'alas activated his cloak and waited for it to cover him fully. He waited, abit frightened. He gulped, seeing something rise across the hill.

It was there, that he saw what it was. His prediction as before, the Insurgents. They arrived in droves, appearing from the myst and hiding behind the oddly placed barriers and crates of boxes. He could see them, hiding behind them and entering buildings.

They were still some way away, but near enough. His heart was pounding, on both sides, the streets were filled.

F'alas saw them coming around him. And.....the Moniter. "Figures!" F'alas thought. Those humans better get here fast!! F'alas could always surrend- no don't think that way.

S bi thought quickly. He disengaged his Camouflage and threw a grenade, before spraying his Repeater grounding a few of the Insurgents. After this many returned fire, seperating.

"Makello yursek humano!"

F'alas deactivated behind the Moniter and stabbed an Energy Dagger into it. The ball of metal exploded. He then fired his Focus Rifle at the three other Insurgents near him and then evaded behind a sandbag.

S bi remained behind his sandbag. The plan was not to let the Insurgents breach the perimeter, so far, that was going to plan. He saw a random ball go up in flames, before he took out another few, before ducking down. He looked back and saw Torix and Quna also fighting, they were surrounded. He looked across to F'alas before crouching upwards to spray again.

"Do not let up!"

F'alas kept firing his Focus Rifle, until they began to surround him. He kept firing, yelling for help.

S bi fired a few more rounds, grounding even more Insurgents. He looked over to F'alas who started yelling. S bi offered a few bullets to him, killing his attackers.

"F'alas, do not let them cross the perimeter!"

He looked behind him and saw Torix and Quna fighting off on their side.

"Torix, how are you guys holding up?"

"We're doing okay, however they're not letting up."

"Same, continue on. Do. Not. Let. Them. Cross. The. Perimeter!"

He turned back around and continued firing at the oncoming waves of Insurgents.

S bi fired a few more rounds off into the oncoming waves. They seemed to appear from the woodwork, and they were tough. He looked across to F'alas and saw him trying his best, no-one knew there would be this amount of Insurgents.
He continued firing at the Insurgents that charged, many still hiding behind the crates and tossed sandbags in the distance. They were hiding in ditches and bumps in the road and occasionally popping out to fire at them.

They had not breached the perimeter at all, they were being held back on their side of the road. He just continued firing until his Repeater stopped. He looked down and realised it was dry on plasma.

"Reloading!"

He unloaded his previous coil and loaded a fresh one into it, before popping back up and opening fire once again.

F'alas adopted the Insurgents tactics. Popping up and down, reloading, and popping up to fire. He had taken three out, but he knew they couldn't hold out forever. He heard a Pelican way in the distance, but he knew it was probably Insurgent.

S bi fired more rounds off, before noticing a Pelican way off in the background. It seemed to be dropping more and more Insurgents off.

"More incoming!"

He continued to fire, dropping to more Insurgents.

F'alas saw it dropping off more Insurgents. He was getting tired. "S bi, we can't take much more!" F'alas yelled over the fire.

S bi looked over to F'alas and nodded before shooting a few more rounds off.

"Just keep fighting. We're Sangheili!"

He continued to ground the oncoming enemies, before reloading.

"Well i wouldn't mind some Demons here!" F'alas remarked and fired at 4 troops trying to cross the perimeter. He felt something behind him. He took out his energy dagger and stabbed the Insurgent behind him. "Stealthed targets have breached our perimeter!" F'alas yelled.

S bi looked to F'alas, and was about to respond before everything became a blur and he was lifted off of his feet and he felt lifeless. His body flew backwards, and he landed with a heavy thud rolling backwards. He tried to look towards the sandbag, as a lot of pain rushed through his body. He saw a massive hole where the sandbag was, and he also saw that he was a few meters away from the sandbag and that his weapon had been tossed some way away. What had happened confused him and he was unsure of what happened.

He tried to muster words out.

"Man...man down!"

F'alas heard a gurgle noise and ran over to S bi. He grabbed his body and dragged it into the Phantom, instructing the other warriors to guard them while he helped S bi. He saw the Zealot staring at him. He laid down S bi next to Paarthurnax and did his best medical methods to stabilize him.

Torix heard the call and sprinted to the Insurgents nearing the Phantom, he equipped his sword and sliced them to pieces, defending the Phantom, as did Quna.

"Quna, hold out!"

Torix, equipped his Needle Rifle and aimed at the nearest targets, lighting them up. He looked inside to see S bi injured. He was shocked and disappointed. He turned back around and continued firing, trying to stop the onslaught of Insurgents, from both sides. They both tried their best.

F'alas heard the battle outside and knew if help didn't come... they were gone. He patched up S bi the best he could before giving Paarthurnax his most valuable thing.. his Energy Dagger. "You deserve it brother." he quietly said and ran out firing his focus rifle.

i'm coming in with some stolen gear obtained from the enemy looks pretty high tech

=the pelican arrives and starts landing=

Zuka looked back to S bi and F'alas, and saw that only two remained. He ran back into the cockpit and grabbed his sword.

"Commander Aegir, this is Company Zealot, Zuka 'Ver Mazalokee. We need medical assistance at the Rendezvous Point. Look...if you don't get here soon, there'll be no pick-up, how copy?"

Zuka ran to the cockpit, picking up his other sword, he then ran to the maintenance hatch, he slid down the ladders and ran to the fuel tank. He slowly connected the opposite end to the sword and the other end to the fuel tank. He watched as the motion quickly took place, as the war raged on above.



He was turning at all angles, firing left to right, ducking and rolling. There were too many Insurgents, but they had to try.

"Keep it up Quna!"

"I will do so...or die trying!"

He unloaded his clip and added another one into his rifle, before shortly opening fire again on the enemy forces. They seemed to just get bigger and bigger every time. They kept pushing on however. They not even getting their shields down, yet. All it was, turning and doing their best.

"We cant keep this up much longer!"

Torix looked into the Phantom's deck when he said this.

F'alas burned an Insurgent with his Focus Rifle before his shields went down. "I need cov-" before he could finish, he was hit with a sharp object in the back of the neck. He quickly passed out.

He saw F'alas drop to the ground. Torix barrel rolled over to him, before grabbing him with one hand and firing with the other, he dragged him back to the Phantom quickly. He placed him inside of the Phantom and rested him near to S bi. Paarthurnax looking shocked at this. Torix jumped back out and started fighting.

"This is it brother!"

"It has been great!"

"Indeed so!"

He span around melting someone's skull with his blade. He continued firing, he got clipped in his left shoulder, knocking him backwards. He quickly got up and fired upon the enemies, holding his rifle with one hand now. He unloaded his magazine and loaded a fresh one into his Needle Rifle.

"Last magazine!"

He shouted and received no reply, he turned around to see Insurgents beating Quna. He dropped his weapon and equipped his sword he leapt through his side of the Phantom and out of the other side. He landed on the Insurgents and sliced around a little, cutting them into two. He checked Quna, he had been cut up, but he was okay. He could stand, Torix helped him up and gave him his weapon, true bravery...

Zuka continued screwing the bolts around and around on the fuel tank, as the sound of firing filled above. He could hear screams, both human and Sangheili. His other Energy Sword was now unusable and demanded more energy, whilst he filled the tank with what was left, which was very little.
He knew that the humans would need to get here soon.

"Commander Aegir, this is Company Zealot, Zuka 'Ver Mazalokee. We need you to get here, quickly. We cannot hold out much longer, how copy?"

He grabbed his Plasma Rifle and ran to the ladder. He gripped the ladder with his usable hand and started pulling himself up the ladder, slowly. He push the hatch as it opened, and he slid through it. He looked around and saw Torix and Quna fighting off the waves of Insurgents. Quna seemed to be holding his chest and Torix seemed to be using his Plasma Rifles now. Zuka headed into the cabin and awaited a response from the humans.

Rendezvous Point

He kept firing, his ears rang with the sound of bullets and rounds dropping to the floor. He kept evading and rolling, him getting tired now. He knew he couldn't let up however, everyone else were either injured or dead, and the rest of the team were depending on him and Quna to defend the Rendezvous Point until the humans arrived. It wouldn't be long now...he hoped. But then again, nothing was real anymore, for they had lost too much, too soon.

"Keep it up brother!"

"I'll...try!"

He looked back to Quna and smiled, as he held his chest and scurried about. The Insurgents poured from everywhere, they had easily gone through a few hundred by now, but they kept arriving from everywhere. The Sangheili were low on ammunition too, for they had been fighting for a while. But surrender was not an option...they would rather die first.

A lot had happened, his vision was blurred but he continued fighting, the ramps of the Phantom were dropped and Torix was sitting down with his back resting on the ramp edge. He was still holding his Needle Rifle, sort of. He was trying to hold off the Insurgents, the waves had kind of died off, but there was still a lot of Insurgents attacking. He kept shooting at their heads when they appeared, his shields were only recharging a little bit, and his health was in the yellow, nearing the red. He felt drained, and injured. Whatever they had...drained their shields fast. He didn't know what had happened to Quna, but no fire came from him, only the Zealot with his Fuel Rod and Plasma Pistol.

His vision was blurred, but he could make out the targets easily. They would not last much longer...he had twelve spikes left. This was the last stand...

F'alas was in an unconsciousness realm.. until he woke up in pain. He took out the knife in the back of his neck. He knew he had to help, he grabbed a Carbine and limped out, starting to shoot the Insurgents.

He kept firing using another two needles, he was placing them carefully into the Insurgents. He knew not of Quna's status, or S bi's, or Paarthurnax', or F'alas for that matter. All hope seemed lost, the humans were nowhere to be seen, and they were running out of supplies, and warriors.
