The Rise: Mission 4

Nurse - "You better wake up! You're late for today's meeting!"

(Wielder)
"How do you know there's a meeti- briefing?"

Nurse - "I was told to tell you... half an hour ago. It's already started now. You best start heading there. But carefully."

(Wielder)
"Well. Shite."
I start getting out of the bed while the nurse gets out of the way. Once I'm out of it I realize I'm in the hospital dress thing.
"Um?"

Nurse - "Here's some decent clothes. Should fit."
I hand him some fatigues, underwear and boots all of which are neatly folded.

(Wielder)
"Thanks"
I slip on the underwear and pants, take off the gown, put on the shirt and the boots. Once down I rush towards the briefing room.

Nurse - "Don't run! You're not fully recovered!"
I don't think he heard me.....

"ah, so you are part of alpha too. So whats your specialty?"

=I look to Rubble=

Pressure getting to you, yet?

=I give Rubble a lopsided grin=

"Well then you and me are probably going to get along. Im a heavy weapon specialist slash support gunner. "

I jolt awake, finding myself on a bench in the armory.
I must have fallen asleep here again.
I see the time and kick myself up and I start to sprint to the briefing room.

=i look at hawk=
Shush you.

=i smile a bit and give a playful push=

=I only grin, looking at the new people that have arrived=

Well...looks like we getting newbies coming out of the woodwork

=I just look around the room, silently watching=

I enter the room full of Spartans. I was 'Over dressed' to say the least. I was still wearing my power armor from when I was in the shooting range the night before. I look for Echo's new squad leader, with one of the Spartans fitting the description, I approach him.
"Rubble?"

And now we wait for Wielder...


I trail my voice off into the room.

"New to the group maybe, but definetly not new to combat."

I say looking at hawk.

=i nod to the spartan=
Hitman?

I give a nod back in response.
"That is what they call me... So this is Echo?

I turn back to the spartan I was originally talking.

"Agreed, what do they call you? I'm boulder."

Me, Hawk, Lyra, and you, yup. Welcome to Echo. By the way, don't let these shakes fool you, I'm as insane as everyone else here.

=i grin a large wolf grin and laugh a little=
Now we're just waiting on Alpha's Medic to get here so we can begin this briefing.

=I look to the new guy and nod=

=I give the rookie my best smile=

I give the old Spartan 'thanks' gesture on my helmet and sit down.

"Well, it would be appropriate for what you do right?"

I burst through the briefing room's doors. Sweat just beginning to run down my face.
"Damn. Sorry 'bout that. I took a wrong- nevermind."
I look around the room, taking note of the new faces and sit... somewhere.

Is it just me? Or am I always late to these?

It's fine. You're with Echo this mission anyway. Rubble will explain to you. Hitman, Whisper, Boulder. Come with me.

I stand up, bringing the folder and head on out of the room.

I get back up, not saying anything only following the other Spartan.

"Waitwaitwait what? Don't they already- nevermind."
I glance at Rubble with a confused look before looking back at the ground. Taking deep, long and silent breathes in a attempt to calm down.

First day back into it and I'm with a different team. What's it matter anyway? Are you missing your squad members or something?

Welcome to Echo, Wielder. You're with us on Evac. Everyone gather around, I don't like repeating myself.

=i open the folder and spread it out, putting the pictures where everyone could see=

We pass through the mess hall.

Hitman. Did you get breakfast this morning?

"Huh?"
It had completely slipped his mind.
"Uh, no I haven't."

I simply nod, my mind racing.

Grab something quick now. You can eat while we walk.

I stop and wait for him.

"Will do."
I run over to the mess hall and grab some, bread pastry thing.
I didn't really pay much attention to what it was, but it was something.
I then run back to the group.

I begin my walk again towards the armoury.

Alright. So the reason we traded over our medic for Hitman here is because we've been assigned an assassination target. Turns out the Athena got an anonymous tip-off about a meeting between some of the GTC leaders in a city not too far from here so we're being sent to take them out.

I turn a corner into the armoury and begin putting my armour on

We'll have a Falcon as our insertion and extraction vehicle. Specialised equipment will include but is not limited to: Gliders, Ziplines and parachutes. All designed for our special weight of course.

I slot my helmet into position, locking all the seals in my armour which is all now in place.

I'm not going to lie. Even if this tip is real, it won't be easy. We have no recon of the area so we're going in blind.

"We have nothing? Not even info on the terrain?"

We know it's a metropolis. High rise buildings. Some construction sites around the target building. But that's it.

I take a sniper rifle from the rack along with a Silenced DMR.

=grabs a pair of silenced pistols and places one on left upper leg and the back near the right shoulder blade before grabbing a silenced smg and putting it on his lower back=

good to go

"Hope there's some good cover."
I grab an M45 shotgun from the rack, along with a bandoleer full of eight gauge shells.
I also grab multiple knives and slide them into areas all about my armor.
"I'd like to be able to get up close and personnel."

I look at him.

We'll be going in silent. Hit the board room and get out again. Boulder will be in the nearest building with the Sniper providing us overwatch.

I take a deep breath in.

I want to do this as quickly as we can. No mistakes. The GTC can take us out as easily as we could kill a marine and I don't feel like losing yet another Spartan.

Echo's being sent in to extract some eggheads. For those of you who were with us last mission, same location, that damned ruined base. The scientists went in to examine and excavate, and now the GTC forces want their base back. That's the GHAN Technology Corporation forces if you're new here. Various portable barricades and turrets are in place, both in the manned and unmanned variety. Two Elephants are issued to the science team, both being military issue with one being outfitted with excavation equipment in the cargo bay, the other outfitted as a mobile weapons transport. Both have the built in weapon near the pilot’s cabin, so we have that going for us in terms of firepower as well. We're being issued some special equipment ladies and gents, some good ole' prototypes. These are portable energy barriers, AT Mines, and auto-turrets, and one auto-drone. The AT mines, from what I read, are a two step cluster charge. Basically, one charge goes off to take care of any possible armor plating or reactive armor, and then five smaller shaped charges go off to burrow through the armor and vaporize whatever else is in the way. Now, the autoturrets, are a bit interesting. Folding turrets with 360 degrees of sight with IFF detector. From what I read, they won't hit anything on our side, are easy to carry and are really lightweight. Currently, we only have enough available Pelicans to get us down there, then get the science team out. That means we're going to have to hold off the enemy until the birds can make their way back. Lyra, Wielder, it should be obvious what you're going to be needed doing. Hawk, I'm going to need you to take over the auto-drone. It has maybe two small caliber MGs on it, I think three grenades, and a suicide device. This document isn't really clear, but it is clear on one thing. Don't break these things. Anything we see on this op will go to improving their design, and I can tell you from experience, intact is better than broken.

I pick myself up and look at the pictures.

I listened to sparrow as I followed the group. once we hit the armory I started to put on my leg armor and work my way up. once all my gear is on besides my backpack I grab my weapons. Listening to sparrow as she explains. I grab a magnum pistol and slide it in my holster. Then I grabbed my backpack and lumber over towards the side with the heavy weapons. I start putting box mag after box mag in my back pack.

"No. Just point me to my gear."

"Actually, I do have a question. Two in fact. Where's Ægir and why was I put on this squad?"

Personal reasons as far as I know, and because you're a medic. We're going to need a medic on this mission more than on an assassination one. Any more? We need to deploy asap.

I wait by the door for the squad to finish up.
