A "Rise" Story- The Start of Something New.

No-one. They just didn't let me fly. That worries me if i'm honest. If i don't get to pilot soon, i'm going to end up doing something drastic.

"It's a good thing you're flying us over the drop zone."

I exit the shooting range upon hearing the news of my very recent second transfer. Was I that unwanted in this world that I would be tossed around like a fucking child at an adoption agency. I'm done with this shit, no more Mr. I try to get along with everyone. I walk to one of the ONI reception facilities in the ship. I walk up to one of the military personel at the facility.

"What can I help you with Spartan recruit."

Sir, I wish to change my assigned title. I no longer wish to be called by what I am now.

"Understood, please follow me while I get things straight."

I watch as she presses these buttons on the screen.

"Ahh Falcon, you were recently signed to Delta, am I correct?"

Yes.

"Ah so you want to be registered under a different code-name."

Yes.

"Can do. What do you have in mind."

I stood there thinking for a second.

Black Burn.

"Are you sure?"

Yes.

After about five minutes she smiled at me.

"All done, your commanding officer should receive notice of this shortly. You tags will be sent you to soon. Have a good day."

I walk away before she good day even thou I heard it. I took off the chain around my neck and examined it.

Falcon.

I walk up to the nearest garbage can and threw them away. I guess I should notify my new commander...Shroud if I remember. Ill head to the armory and see if he is there.

Well...I vaguely remember stories my Dad told me of when he was in the Airborne. They fascinated me so much that I decided to train with the Airborne, and here I am now. That, and the fact that a parachute is less likely to fail than a drop pod.

True, but at least a pod is meant to hit the ground fast and make you a harder target. Parachutes just make you an easier target. Or so I'm lead to believe.

At night, a parachute doesn't make you a target. And I will admit that a drop pod is a better method of going into a hot zone. In a situation like we have for this op, parachuting tends to be the better option.

"It doesn't matter, I'm just curious." I said to Sparrow, my tone neutral.

"You've been assigned to Delta Squad. Get to know Mimir, I have a feeling you'll become very well acquainted." I said to Markov.

Oh i'm sure he already knows the AI too well.

I sigh.

I turned to leave, but turned back around looking at the one sided glass, "Unlock his armour in the Armoury, he has a mission in less than two hours." I then nodded to Shroud and Sparrow and left for the Hanger.

Follow Shroud, he'll take you to the armoury. I need to get to a pelican. Fast.

I almost run out of the room towards the hanger, past Aegir.

I enter the armory and see no one I needed to know. I headed to my locker to check out my armor. I admit I got a little jittery as the locker opened. There it was, all clad in black, just the way I had imagined it. I took out every piece looking at it from every angle I could.

At put my armor on the way I was showed before. It fit snug, for some odd reason. You wouldn't think that an armor of this size be this comfy. I kept my helmet off too cool my nervous self down. I sat down on a bench and stared at the front of my helmet.

I reach the hanger way ahead of everyone else and comm Whisper and Trident.

Hanger boys. We're up.

I get in the pilot seat of a pelican and instantly i relax, calm down. Everything goes away and my fingers itch for the levers.

I arrived at the Hanger in time to see Sparrow running the pelican through some tests. It reminded me of the Aegis Fate. At least she was in her element now.

I brought a Trauma and Medical Kit near the Pelican as she was running tests, I would bring it up near the front and placed it in the cargo net when she finished. I remembered her becoming foul when someone was on her ship when she was running check-ups.
