Dormii's sidarc: Journey to the beginning

Paarthurnax enjoyed the sound of that, but then did not find it that amuzing.

=i nod and we walk into the Informations building. I walked up to the clerk and asked, as politely as I could while still sounding Military=

I need to find one Joli Reprioski. Can you tell me where she is?

Spoiler:

Ms. Reprioski walked through the halls of the ONI laboratory building. She was carrying on as normal, even though she had every right to run home after the message she received.

The Message read:

We have your children.
Bring the money with you when you return home or we will kill them.
We want 1,000,000 Cr by the time you return home tonight.
Don't tell anyone or we'll kill one of your children.
Come home with someone behind you, or near you, and we'll kill one of your children.
Do anything out of the ordinary and we'll kill your children.
Come home without the money, we torture your children and then kill them, and then rape and kill you.

It was unsigned, but there was a picture of her children, and where she lived included with the message. She continued about her day, as calm as she could.

=the clerk wrote down directions after typing on a computer, speaking to someone else on a wireless headset. He didn't even look up at me or Paarthurnax. I took the note and gestured for Paar to follow me. As we left, the clerk never looked up, but sent a silent message once we were out of the building. It was sent to Joli Reprioski, telling her someone asked about her location=

Paarthurnax kept quiet. He was thinking about that Clerk and this target. He searched information about this Clerk. He had captured an image whilst his shoulder camera was recording.
He made sure he had taken a clear image of his desk, and things around his desk. He could see his face, it was rather shadowed, his eyes, were a light red.
He was watching as they left the building, he rotated his camera and saw the Clerk sending a message, with a sharp grin on his face.

Dormii believed the message was to the Target, but all in all knew something was not right.

"Dormii, do you have the feeling that something bad is going to happen, because I do?"

=I nod=
I do, but there is nothing I can do about it. We just need to continue on our way, and hope we can get out of whatever it is that's going to happen.

"Affirmitive"

Paarthurnax equipped his sword and rolled it between his hands, he knew a time would come where he would need it, he was just unsure when. His shoulder camera was still recording, every moment of it, and he was still scanning things, things unfamiliar to him. He enjoyed this world, and he enjoyed the company of Dormii, all this world he had not explored; all this world he set out to destroy.

"Wait. Which is the house, even better, are we near yet. I am detecting large thermal devices in this area, a tonne of thermal?"

Paarthurnax switched his helmet visor to thermal, and he started to scan the houses and buildings himself, he was confused.

=i looked at the directions. We weren't close yet, nowhere near it. I had no idea where we were in the city, like what district, I just followed the directions as much as possible, turning on the streets it said to and such=

We aren't close yet, and I have no idea where we are. We might be in the manufacturing plants, or the power plants, or something. I have no idea.

"Maybe, but I sure do detect a lot of it, not sure where though"

Paarthurnax continued to scan, nothing, not that he could see anyway. After a few minutes he returned his visor back to normal, and continued to enjoy the walk. He brought out his Nano-Pad again, and there it was, a message from his Admiral.

The message read:
' Arbiter, when I say so I wish for you to commense the Glassing Beam on Haven, no questions about it. When I command you to do so, you do it.

He was quite suprised at this, and he knew it was too soon, he opened up another from your father, this one a little more calmer.

The message read:
'Paarthurnax, I respect you therefore I shall respect your friends. I know you had the right intentions, I just did not know what to make of them. I wish to organise a meeting between your friend and I in the future, it is okay if you do not trust me, you have all reasons not to, I just wish to settle this soon.

Paarthurnax did not know what to make of this message, he closed it down and slid it back in his utility, he thought it was best not to tell him.

"You have strayed from the path of the righteous journey, you shall be disbanded and forgotten traitor!"

Paarthurnax fell to his knees and let out an angered yell. He was on all fours, and could not recall what had happened.

=i turned and kneeled down next to Paarthurnax=

What's wrong?

Paarthurnax could not answer, for he did not know himself. He quickly shook his head.

"I'm fine, really"

He got back up before collapsing again.

"Your heresy will stay your feet...And you will be left behind!"

He started rolling around.

"Argh...These voices, make them stop!"

"That's right, you can hear me. You are nothing but scum, worthless, pathetic scum!"

Paathurnax got onto his knees, he removed his helmet and threw it away from him. He could still hear them, he reached for his sword, desperate to end this.

=i held his arm down, to stop him from doing anything with his swrod=
Listen to me. To me, not to them. Who are you?

Paarthurnax was really dazed, he could see Dormii, by his side.

"I am Erbo...Paarthurnax!"

"No...Do not fight me fool!"

"I am Paarthurnax...Erbo!"

"You cannot defeat me, not permanantly!"

"I am Paarthur...nax!"

Paarthurnax had shaken this spirit that was controlling him, at least a spirit was what he thought it was. He looked to Dormii, and smiled.

"Thank you human! Thank you!"

No worries. It happens to me sometimes.

=i made the smile gesture on my helmet and then handed his to him=

You okay enough to walk?

Paarthurnax nodded and grabbed his helmet from the human, he out it on and switched it on. They started walking again. He did not actually know what happened to him then, or why it happened, but he knew who it was, he knew that too well. He put the thought aside and continued on.

"What you have done, will not rid you of me Paarthurnax, what you have done is merely a delay!"

"For what I have done Erbo, is not herecy, but merely seeing the truth of this Covenant. Be gone, for your time has passed"

Paarthurnax walked on and blanked this problem, it troubled him more than anyone, this spirit is not welcome here, nor anywhere.

=we kept walking, and walking. I knew that the instructions weren't leading us in circles, but her home was still a long ways away. It was going to take some time, but I didn't mind. As long as I got her in the end, it was worth it=

Paarthurnax pulled out his Nano-Pad once again, the road was very long and tiring and he got quite bored whilst doing this. He looked at his Nano-Pad and saw an Emergency message, which was transmitted by the CSO Supercarrier The Shadow of Dismay.

Paarthurnax was stopped by this and was quite put off by the charge. He looked foward and ran to Dormii, he stopped him.

"Do you know of the Planet Haven?"

=i nod=
Yes, it is my home, as well as the home of many of my friends. Also, many more friends are visiting there, or were, last I was there. Why?

Paarthurnax showed him the message.

"My Admiral, just ordered an attack on Haven, with his entire Fleet"

He looked straight to his Pad, to make sure his eyes were not telling him lies.

=i struggled to keep the anger out of my voice=
Call it off. Now.

"I will need time, a lot of it. There are a lot of encryption codes in this"

Paarthurnax started to hack into the general message system, and the codes system. It was an extreme challenge.

Do it. Quickly.

=i stood there, waiting. The panels on my arm went flat in anger=

Paarthurnax looked up angrily, partly because it was hard and partly because he thought it could be done in two seconds. He was trying to do this quickly.

He had now finished all the hacking, now to cancel the order.

Reason for cancelling: Wrong Planet. This order is to be cancelled and not restarted at all. This is an outstanding ORDER!

He jumped up, and cheered.

"Done, it will hold them off for a while, I do not know how long it will take them to figure out it is a fake order, lets get going"

=I relaxed, slightly=
C'mon. Let's go find Joli.

=i turned and kept walking=

Paarthurnax resumed walking with Dormii, feeling prowd about doing this. He made sure his IP remained anonymous, so they could not trace them. He slid the Pad back into his utility and continued walking. His camera was still recording, he laughed when he saw it, for the past two hours it was on.

"What have you done. This is blasphemy, you have runied months work Paarthurnax?"

"I have saved an entire Planet, that is what I have done"

"The Spirits and Titans will come for you soon, if you remain on this path, you will be dragged under too, like so many others..."

Paarthurnax remained silent, what did he mean by the Spirits and Titans, who were they and what did he mean, drag him under. This confused him, he was unsure about what this meant. He walked on baffled by the previous comments of this lost Sangheili.

=a few hours later, we got to the right location. It was a small house, well, small-ish. It looked big enough to hold a family comfortably, but just barely. We walked up to the front door and I knocked on it, hoping she was home. I had no idea that on the other side, a hidden transmitter was sending a signal to her office that someone was at her front door=

Paarthurnax switched his visor to thermal, and scannerd for things on the otherside, there were a few suspicious things that he had noticed, but scanned the house. He could see no life signs, at least none that were visible to him.

"I sense...Two things, that are wrong with this door Dormii, and neither are good"

Paarthurnax equipped his Nano-Pad, awaiting Dormii's response.

=i turned my head to look at Paar=
And they are?

"One looks like a transmitter of some sort, and the other is a trip wire, or what looks like one. Both are attached to the door"

Paarthurnax pulled out some wires, and plugged one end into the Nano-Pad, and one into the alarm system. He looked up to Dormii, and he slid his finger across the Pad.

"I am going to try and hack into the alarm system and try and disable the transmitter and laser wire thing"

He looked down to his pad and started messing around with the two objects that he had in his hands.

"Unless you have another plan friend?"

=i nod=
Where exactly is the trip wire?

=i extend my arm blade and point it at the door=

"It is at the bottom of the door, although it is a laser wire, despite it being strangely placed, as though done recently"

Paarthurnax was decoding the alarm system, trying to stop the transmitter from doing what it was doing.

He had used his Pad to find the password, and was now deactivating it.

"Finished. That Laser wire is not hers. According to this, there is no other security object in her house?"

He removed the wires and controls from the alarm panel, and slid them back into his utility.

I mean I need you to tell me exactly where it is. I'm going to cut the door open, and I need to know how far I can go down.

Paarthurnax scanned once again.

"Twenty centimeters, from the bottom of the door. It is about...Ten centimeters big in height. Here"

He got his finger and scatched a marking in it. It showed were he could cut.

"It covers the entire width of the door"

=i nod=
Got it. Hold on to the top part of the door. I don't want this thing falling onto the wire.

=I stabbed the door, and started sawing my way along the bottom. I was hoping, praying that someone didn't walk along and see us. I really didn't want the authorities to arrive=

Paarthurnax nodded and grabbed the top of the door, he had turned off his thermal, and returned to his normal visor. He made sure no-one was watching, not that he could do anything if they were.
He watched the human fast at work, sawing the door off. It was a risky job, but a fun one at that.

=I managed to cut the door off rather quickly. I retracted the blade and helped Paar put the door off to the side. I stepped into the house and shouted=

JOLI!

"Do you know nothing of stealth?"

Paarthurnax chuckled to himself, Dormii always shouted for his targets, he never did it with stealth.

=i look at Paar=
Was never trained in stealth. It's not my style.

=I walked up the stairs towards the second floor=
JOLI!

Paarthurnax agreed with his comments, he remained silent whilst the human called for this target. He had his sword in his hands, ready for anything. His armor, went really well with the darkness that portrayed the house.
He looked like a real assassin, although he was one anyway. He lit up his blade as they reached the second floor.

"Come out you coward!"

Paarthurnax ran through a few rooms, knocking over furniture, when it was not necessary at all. Nothing, not a trace, not in his rooms anyway. He slowly walked out, disappointed with the findings.

"Nothing. Not a trace. What about you?"

=i walked back down the stairs, trying to spread my weight equally so they don't collapse=
Nothing. Well, fuck. I was hoping to get her now, as opposed to when she's at work, wherever that is.

"Wait, if she is not home yet, or has not been during the course of the day, well who put that laser wire there?"

Paarthurnax ran down to where it was and brought out his Nano-Pad, which was apparently useful for everything. He scanned the finger prints that were on the device, and it loaded up a match.
It did not match up, it was not the target.

"Dormii, it is not Joli. It says it is a Petrov Mellcanovi. Convicted three times, and liable for over three hundred crimes. Maybe we are not the only ones looking to kill her?"

He looked up to Dormii, confused and hoping for an answer.

=i shook my head=
I don't know. I really, really don't know.

Paarthurnax looked down and saw the address on the Pad.

"We could visit this person's house pay him a visit?"

Paarthurnax put his Pad away, he had wrote the address on a scrap piece of paper and gave it to Dormii.

=i shook my head=
No. If he's watching Joli, then he may be watching us. So far, we know we haven't done anything to alert him. Let's wait, see if Joli comes back.

"And see her door ripped open and see her house turned upside down, she will run for her life?"

Paarthurnax stood up confused, not knowing what was going to happen.

That's why we wait. We put the door back in place, and wait nearby. When she arrives, we take her inside before anything happens.

"Give me a minute. There, the wire is disconnected, lets hope this plan works"

He sat and waited.

[within the few hour time lapse that it took Dormii and Paarthurnax to find Joli's home]

Joli left the ONI laboratory she worked in and went to the bank to pick up the money after she got off at her usual time. She was slightly unnerved by the message she received from a clerk a while ago. The bank clerk asked if anything was wrong, she said there wasn't anything wrong, but that someone was looking for her and she didn't know who. The clerk didn't know what to say to that and just nodded, she knew he didn't know what that could mean. It was also obvious he was attracted to her.

She left the bank with the money. It wasn't much for a person of her standing within ONI, but it was enough to make her wary of who she was dealing with. She had had several security plans around her home, but they were ineffective against whatever means the crooks used to get into her house. Also the fact that they got her children out of school was another concern. Moreover the fact that the school hadn't detected anything suspicious about the children being picked up that early in the day.

Her back-up plans failed. That unnerved her more than anything. For once her plans and her fall-back plans failed. She walked to her home deep in thought. Which was typical of her, and the neighbors didn't pick up on the potentially dangerous situation. She got home and found it empty.

"Hello?" she said weakly. She walked around the entirety of the house and found no trace of anything. No bugs, no wires, nothing. She looked around the house some more, repeating herself, not knowing what to do. A ball rolled down the stairs and she nearly shrieked in surprise, but she caught herself. Her heart was racing, pounding against the inside of her chest. She went to the base of the stairs, and found a metal ball with a strange symbol on it. The symbol a strange resemblance to the notebook she kept. She examined the ball some more, but she couldn't, the ball began to roll back up the stairs. She stair in awe as it did. It was a metal ball, about the size of a kidney. She followed the ball up the stairs and to her room.

Her room was empty. Her bed, mirror, drawers, desk, everything was gone. The ball rolled into the middle of the room and stopped. She walked closer to it. It was then that she noticed a pattern in the floorboards. The pattern was unfamiliar. But she recognized a few of the symbols. She heard a creaking sound and looked up, the door had closed. She heard the click of the lock and ran over to the door, she couldn't open it. She looked over the room, and noticed that the ball was now floating 4 feet from the floor. She walked over to it, confused, frightened and fascinated. She looked up, she didn't know why, but she did, and she saw that the ceiling matched the floor perfectly.

Before she had bought the house, years after the Viking Programme and years after the Juggernaut, the latter she was not apart of. It had been owned by a family, or so the neighbors thought. The family was said to have moved out for no particular reason, they just got up and moved one day. She wondered then, if that was true. The symbols began to glow, and she recognized the Slip-space crystals that were interwoven in the ceiling and floor. How they got there and who put them there was a mystery. The money was left at the base of the stairs, so was her purse and her belongings.

She awoke in a dark room while a black van came by her house and forced entry, searching the house and taking the money and leaving a note behind.

=I started to move out of the house, when I saw a note. I picked it up, and saw that it said that she was on a business trip, and would be home within a few days, if not weeks. I crumpled it up and threw it away=

Gods dammit. Let's go pay this person a visit.

Paarthurnax looked confused, and he walked over to the leeter and had a look.

"Who, this Petrov?"

Paarthurnax put his sword away, and got out the address.
